Good show, I think that if he was allowed to play through the slump or was given the opportunity to play with better players, he would have come through to perform like he was in the first half of the season. I fault Bones for not helping him get through the slump quicker. Just one of several questionable coaching decisons last year in the second half
Misused by Bowness. Bowness misused Ehlers too. Bowness did some really good things last year, but he definitely dropped the ball regarding certain players.
The Jets would be foolish to sign him long term at this point in his career. The safe way is a short contract. The jets don't have enough info on him to sign him long term to big $ with all that uncertainty about skating, durability and other question marks.. If he blossoms into a Scheifele like player...Then sign him for 6 million plus long term.. I cant see him turning out to be another 55 over the next 2 years
I agree that the short-term option is safer, but not necessarily better. Mark Scheifele's second contract was an eight-year extension. So signing Perfetti long-term right now would be very similar to the situation Scheifele was in, where the Jets signed him to the bargain contract that he was on from 2016-2023.
I was pissed they passed on lundell. This guy is not worth anywhere near the contract some fans are calling for. He needs to prove he can play 82 games. Right now he's a overvalued 3rd liner
