This video is awesome and super helpful! I just ordered one of these fans and I’ll be using your video to walk me through the install. It was nice to see it done on my same camper. I’d love to see the other modifications you did. I just added solar to mine and so I’m hoping between that and this fan I can go Boondock easier.
2:13 In the automotive side of things you can use dry ice to help remove sound deadening. I wonder if that would help with the removal of the old sealant? Just a thought
Hi Charlie. I also purchased a 2023 17b. Your correct, there are no outlets on the bunk end side of the camper. If you could please, at your convenience please put together how you did your outlets. Our vent cover also pops open when we are traveling.
Here is a link to the exact one I got on Amazon. That’s where I bought it so it was easy to find. It’s a few dollars less than I paid currently. It’s a big purchase though. I’d search camping world too. See who has the best deal. MAXXAIR 0007000K MaxxFan Deluxe Fan with Remote and White Lid a.co/d/bbIb28X Also note: you can install any rv fan you want like I did in this video. They are all 12 volt and the size of our opening. I just really liked the features of this particular one and am still very happy with it.
Actually no. The wire I tapped into was probably running to the light over the sink or the 12volt fridge. They did leave a ton of slack in it. You will have to cut into it and splice the fan in. If you want to ad a porch light. Behind the tank gage panel there is a three way connector on a positive and negative to tap into. Another easy access to 12 volt power for adding things. I put a 12 volt usb charger on it. Can charge phones boon docking now. Good luck. If you have any more questions let me know.
I’m 180 and it feels pretty solid to me. But it does give a little. I’m not sure if it will support you or not. If you feel safe physically getting up there. I’d get a couple pieces of 3’x3’ plywood squares. Put one where you will step off your ladder. Then move them around always standing on one. That will distribute your weight over a wider area. Just make sure not to tear the roof moving them around. Hopefully someone else sees this that can give you an experienced answer. I don’t Facebook. But there’s supposed to be a large Coleman 17b group on there. That might be a good place to check for an answer. Good luck!
