Yeah. OK. Here's how I make coffee. Put water in a coffee pot (or kettle if you forgot a pot). Boil just the water at high heat. When it reaches a boil turn the burner down to low to medium (just enough to keep the water boiling). Add your coffee and pull the pot off to the edge of the burner so the whole mess does not boil over onto the top of the stove. Let it boil for a couple of minutes. Turn off the burner. Add a little cold water to help settle the grounds and slide the pot to a cool burner. Put it in a cup and enjoy. Repeat as necessary. Never, NEVER, wash your coffee pot. Coffee needs to have BODY!! The best way to break in a new coffee pot is to add, to the first pot, a used sock in addition to the coffee and when done discard the sock. Or wear it after it cools.

Just add extra water at the start to get the carafe full. And you can keep the coffee warm by turning down the stove flame as low as it will go without going out. For those that melted theirs, you forgot to turn off the burner when the brewing stopped! I have owned and used mine for over ten years, when it was first introduced. It's the best camping coffee, (without resorting to a French press or vacuum pot).

Beach er thanks, was going to ask if I could keep the coffee warm with the flame down to a simmer.

I also own this Coleman Coffee Maker for about 9 yrs. I do not normally make 10 cups of coffee--more like 4-5 cups. Makes a good cup of coffee.

I have this exact set up. But I found that by putting the heat on hi then when it starts to make the coffee turn your heat back down it will continue to make the coffee at the same speed and won’t get the hole thing so hot.

Great thorough review. After years of camping and instant coffee and percolators, I'm excited about this coffee maker.

Lynnsey L: Important to remember with the Coleman Coffee Maker: 1. Use only with two & three burner campstoves. Never use with a single burner stove. 2. Never use on a Gas or Charcoal grill 3. Never use your Coleman Coffee maker on a stove burner rated in excess of 15,000 BTU 4. Clean with mild, non-abrasive detergent only

@@HJKelley47 wait why not a single burner? That sounds odd. Also why not on a gas grill? It’s meant to be used on a gas grill is it not?

Holy Moly... RIP to us headphone users @ 2:31 lol. Thanks for the review!! I went with the Coleman 5007 Portable Propane Coffeemaker with the stainless steel carafe instead. :D

My coleman drip coffee maker only works about 50 percent of the time and that is disappointing to say the least when in need of coffee first thing in the morning at camp. Ive cleaned it, made sure the levers are working, I've placed the carafe in the exact spot to trigger the lever, loaded it up and all the water gets stuck in the drip basket, very little dripps into carafe. Then , after a long while , i am forced to empty the drip basket which is now full of coffee water and floating grounds. This has happened nearly every other use this past camping trip!!! I finally gave up on it. But before i toss it, you got ideas on how to fix?

I have one for my canoe-camping. The problem with this coffe maker is the fuel it takes. If carrying fuel is not an issue for you, this item does the job. If not, a good old fashion perlocator is better.

I have a vintage peculator that has a wide bottom, not straight like most. It perks a bit faster than this unit. Personally, if I'm camping I want the taste of perc, I've had it camping since the 70s. I do bring a french press for other folks that can't handle manly coffee!

Wow. Great video. I do have a question. How long does the pot stay hot after you turn off the gas? Thanks.

One of the problems with the camping coffee makers is using too fine of a grind of coffee. The finer the grind, like Expresso, the more the coffee absorbs the water so less gets to the pot and the brew time is longer. I have my heat between medium and low. Try timing your coffee maker at home using different grinds and see how long it actually takes for your regular coffee to brew. It might be longer than you think.☕️

Thanks for posting as I like my coffee!!!! I have bought this model plus the Coleman Stainless Carafe meant for the propane version and was given a second Stovetop Coffeemaker and sadly, I've yet to use them. Now that the weather has cooled off, I need to break out my Coleman stoves and make some coffee!!!!

+shootandfish2 Sounds like your addicted to coffee like I am. I have used a percolator for years while camping and have always wanted coffee like you get at home and never had it till we got this Coleman coffee maker. You definitely need to get your out and put it to use. Thanks for watching.

I don't believe it was mention here or in the comments. When you set up to make your coffee be sure to shut the top container with your ground coffee first before you set the carafe in place. The reason is that the little device the starts/stops the coffee from flowing to the carafe needs to be in proper position or it may not allow the coffee to flow into the carafe. The coffee will fill up the container and overflow and the water and grounds will be all over the place. The reason I know?? So just remember to set the carafe in place last before brewing.

Does this thing make the water hot, before it hits the grounds? Or is it cold brewed, then made hot in the carafe

Have you had any problems with the materials? I have seen reviews complaining that the metal base and plastic are prone to warping and/or melting.

I have not had any issues so far, the only thing that I've noticed is the sticker melted off of the back of the coffee maker. We have used it a lot too, thankfully no issues.

+Cjn Cjn you're welcome, I am curious about those issues now, wondering if the issues are caused by too high of heat.

Got this and used it for a week long camping trip. Worked great. Made pretty decent coffee in about 10-12 minutes. I didn't have any problems with the metal or plastic parts melting. I was careful about the heat though bc my Coleman dual burner stove is rated 22,000 BTU and I think the coffee maker is rated 15,000.

I got mine at Walmart. The plastic is not heat resistant enough to keep its shape. So it tends to dorm and lose a lot of vapor.

Lol, I do like the old way better, probably because thats how I watched my dad brew coffee all those years. The reason I said I like this coffeemaker better is because of the taste or quality of coffee. Like Danny Schacht said, too many grounds in the coffee with a percolator. Thanks for watching

Wow, what a waste of money, I wouldn't buy it! I always knew the best way to make coffee is to do it the camping style! Not the lazy rich people style.
