This was a really good video. I was about to buy this tent, but I had a bunch of questions and you answered every single one of my questions saved me a purchase that I wouldn’t have liked. Thanks!
That is wonderful that you were able to set up the tent by yourself. I have a Coleman Carlsbad 4-Person Tent and I hope to set it up by myself following your video. Thank you.
@guatehikes Thank you so much for sharing and taking the time to leave me a comment! 😊 Let me know whether you're able to set it up on your own! If you're not able to, feel free to ask me any questions and I'll do my best to help and give you whatever tips I can 😊
I must say I think this was the best review I've seen on this tent. Thank you so much! I liked that the review was snappy, kept good pace and you have a terrific voice for this. Great detail! I need to find your review of the 6 person dark room Carlsbad if you have one. Deciding between that or the non dark room version.
Thank you so much Tom!! I'm glad that you liked the review, and you didn't mind my voice! (Hahaha it always sounds cringey to me) It means a lot for sure 😊 I'm probably not gonna buy the 6P Carlsbad though, but I'd definitely recommend it over this 4P version! Cos I can't stand in Coleman's 4P tents, but I can stand up and walk around in the 6P tents, so that's an upgrade for sure! 😊
This is the one I’ve been waiting for. Sadly, I was let down. I was hoping it would perform better. Oh, well 🤷🏾♂️ the search continues! Looking forward to the next video. You’re the best! 🙏🏾
Thank you so much as always Romulus! Really appreciate your kind comments 😊 Sorry to keep you waiting for so long before releasing this video. I was a bit disappointed too, cos this was my first dark room Coleman tent, and I didn't realize it was defective earlier! Just one last Coleman tent to go (Skydome) before releasing the Best Coleman Tent video! 😊
@PartNinja You're most welcome! And thank you so much for your awesome comment! I'm glad that you liked the review, and found the measurements helpful too! 😊
Bought Coleman Carlsbad 8P. This review influenced my decision ofcourse. 8p is more like 6pm. actually just enough room for me and my boy when he is playing VR and I am playing guitar inside. I like the not so dark room technology. Just enough darkness to sleep comfortably even daytime.
Very comprehensive and helpful review! I've used mine just once (no rain) and agree with everything you stated. I already had a good 4 person Spinifex Shoalhaven and bought this one primarily for the Darkroom tech as I enjoy day naps so I was extremely disappointed. For those reading this in Australia I recommend the Spinifex Shoalhaven over this as its been in 60km/h rain without a single leak, and its has a lot more ventilation.
Hi Andrew! Thank you so much for your comment and your input! I really appreciate it 🥰 Oh man I'm so sorry to hear about that though! Did you receive the same defective dark room tech that I did?
@@CampingGuidance I just remember when I first pitched it up at dusk, went in and can see where moon is, I was apprehensive. I would have been satisfied if it was like the 6 person. Someone posted a photo where you can clearly see their silhouette, from the inside, at night, so Coleman really dropped the ball on quality control
@@andrewrumayar3103 Ooof that definitely sounds like a defective dark room tent then. I think it was worse than mine! I think that their Carlsbad is the only defective tent, the other 2 dark room tents I got from Coleman were really great. I hope you managed to return your tent though 😔
Thank you so much! 🥰 I'm really glad that you liked the review! Feel free to reach out if you have any questions and I'll do my best to help k? Btw, thanks so much for having my back there with the other commenter. I really do appreciate it ❤
@@CampingGuidance Thank you, I will! We've entered into the cold seasons where I am so I'm actually doing my research for the upcoming spring (maybe I'll be able to catch some good deals as we head into winter lol). When I have time I'll be sure to check your other videos too (I’ve subscribed 😀). Also, no problem ❤☺. Sorry you got that comment at all. Hope you have a wonderful day ☀ and great job again. The review was thorough and very informative!🙂
@@halleyscomet1123 Oh yeah! Maybe you could get some deals in the upcoming BFCM as well. I'm actually looking forward to that hahaha 😅 I hope you manage to find the tent that you need! And sure, take your time to check out the videos, I'm not going anywhere 😉 Thank you so much for subbing too! 🥰 Ah, it's alright. I actually got so many of those comments that I decided to move away from the mask 😅 Thank you so much again! 🥰 I'm just a comment away anytime you need me!
Another thorough and entertaining review Liz! Your camera work and attention to detail is exceptional! Even the small little ‘pop’ sounds when on screen writing comes on is entertaining! You would be an awesome person to take camping! Do you think you’ll ever review Bell tents?… keep up the great reviews!
Hi James! Thank you so much!! You're always too kind 😊 I really appreciate your comments, as always! Glad you like the details and even those little pop sounds too hahaha. I had to add them in one by one but I guess it's worth it!! 😊 I'm sure you would be an even more awesome person to take camping! 😊 Hmm bell tents are actually out of my budget for now sadly, but I have definitely thought of renting one just for the experience! If I do, I'll probably record it and let you know 😊
@@CampingGuidance I already have a 4M Bell tent and I love it. So, do you actually keep all those tents, mats etc. you review? I just thought it would be interesting seeing your perspective on the Bell tent ⛺️ I’m sure you would be very meticulous in set up and take down, plus showing all the features 😉
@@jayspot4 Thanks for sharing James! I'll definitely keep that in mind if I ever do buy bell tents in the future 😊 And I will definitely do my best to be as meticulous as possible! Hahaha. And I've just started selling some tents actually! As I'm downsizing to a much smaller place at the end of the year. I usually end up selling these tents at about 20-30% loss so that really eats into my budget a bit :(
Thanks so much for the comment and input Zeenia! 😊 And yeah those tips will definitely help with the rain! Hahahah I hope you like this tent! Let me know how it goes 😊
Since the mesh wall can’t be zipped up, it seems like it would be a bad experience in colder weather. Did you find this mesh wall to be a problematic?? Thank you so much for this video 🙏🏼
Hi Andres! Oh I replied you in your other comment! I'll copy and paste it here just in case! "Yeah the back side is pretty much open and it won't be good for cold weather. Personally I'm not a cold weather camper (I live in perpetual summer climate 😂) so I can't test that out for you, but Coleman tents are usually summer camping tents rather than off-season camping tents. I'd recommend going for something else that has at least zippable mesh and a longer rainfly!"
Thank you so much Mike! I'm glad you liked this review and found it helpful, that means a lot! 😊😊 And the screen room's attached to the rest of the tent so there's no way to remove it sadly :( Although if you don't want the screen room then Coleman's regular dark room Sundome tent is exactly what you may need 😊
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder! Cheer up and stop wearing the mask! By the way, I'm in doubt between Coleman Carlsbad 6 people and Coleman Atacama 6 people (I don't know if the latter is available in your country). If you can make a comparison, I'd appreciate it!
Thank you so much Alvaro! Hahaha I'll definitely try to stop wearing the mask for my future videos for sure 😊 And thanks for the tip on the Atacama tent! Sadly it doesn't sell in my country, and I can't get my hands on it :( But it looks like the Atacama has much better rain protection! (I Googled it hahaha) But this might cut down on ventilation, so it really depends if you're expecting really heavy rains. Also, maybe you can check out whether the Atacama's screen room has rainfly protection (it doesn't look like it does though). Hope this helps! 😊 Please feel free to let me know if you have more questions!
@Thanh Binh Nguyen Thanks for the input Thanh! I have a few tents from Decathlon (the 2 Seconds variety). I'll add Naturehike to the list! I didn't know Naturehike was popular in Asia as well. Thanks for the input! They won't be out that soon though (cos I still gotta save up and buy them hahaha) but I'll try! 😊
I was looking something to dark room tech instant pop up, , 11 min is not bad. Would you recommend these with poles over the instant pop up ones? Which do you truly recommend for easy setup but with great peak and entrance where you dont have to bed over as much?
Hi Guillermo! Thanks for the question 😊 Actually, Coleman has the 10-person instant cabin tent, which took me just 16 minutes to set up alone, which is not bad for a 10-person tent. If you're looking for a dark room tech instant pop up tent, I think that may be one of your best bets. But the entrance area isn't great for this tent. If you don't mind not having the dark room, I quite like the Core 9-person instant tent. Great entrance, higher peak height, still instant, but no dark room. Hmm honestly I would go with non-instant tents, because I'm super used to setting and tearing down tents on my own, saving a few minutes on an instant tent isn't really a big highlight for me. But that's just my opinion, and I know a lot of people may not have the same experience with many tents that I do. Hope this helps! 😊
Thank you so much Justin! I'm really glad to hear that I could help make your decision easier 😊 Let me know about your experience with this tent if you have the time! I'd love to hear about it 😊
Hi Duane! Hmmm the Carlsbad has dark room tech, a regular Sundome doesn't, and the Carlsbad also has the screen room (shown in this video). Overall not too many differences though 😅 This is more like just a Sundome + added screen room hahahaha
So from the door to the back wall is 9 feet without the screen room. With the additional 4 foot screen room it's 13 feet deep total? The width (side to side) is 7 feet regardless. Is this correct? Thanks!
Hey Duane! Hmm door to the back wall is about 6'9, and yep the screen room is about 4' (mine was 3'10). And side to side is about 8'8. Yours might differ slightly, plus or minus a couple inches. I hope this helps! 😊
@lasjjakkro Unfortunately, it does. The rainfly doesn't cover it at all :( You could set up a tarp over it, which will definitely help with the rain, but of course that will increase the set up time as well. I hope this helps! 😊
Hi Brandon, thanks for the question! Nope I didn't waterproof it, so the rain test in this video was based on Coleman's original waterproofing + about 3-4 years of age, so some of the original waterproofing would have degraded some. Once you waterproof it with spray and sealant, it'll definitely hold up a lot better 😊
You're most welcome Brandon! I'm always here to help if I can 😊 Oooh let me know how you like the 6-person tent! I hope your dark room isn't defective like mine!
You're most welcome David! I'm glad that I could help you out with your decision 😊 Hope you find another tent that better suits your needs! And thank you so much for your comment, I'm really glad that you liked this! 😊
