Back in the 80"s my mom bought an old pop up camper whose canvas tent was rotted. On an old singer sewing machine, she made, by hand, a new canvas tent complete with screen windows, metal zipper flaps, triple seams throughout. I would go to see her and find her buried in the midst of a mountain of heavy canvas and that old machine going whirr-whirr-whirr. She sanded and painted the wooden box portion too. She was amazingly creative. Your camper is adorable and you and your dad did a great job on it.
This camper conversion was a pure joy to see. The best way to tell you how much I like what you've done is to say that I wouldn't change anything about it. You and you dad deserve a ton of praise!
This by far the Best conversion from a pop up I've seen. Absolutely enjoyed watching it. Love the inside just a total master piece. Would be so cool if you documented beginning to end this build. Nice job
@@caitlynbritten what a great job you and your dad did!! Really well done. I hope you enjoy many, many trips in it. 🧡 Was this an old Coleman Colorado that you converted? Just curious.
Your Father and you should be extremely proud of what you've achieved in this build! You've created a beautiful, compact travel cabin that's light, bright and airy, and which looks really comfortable, cosy and very welcoming! You have everything for life support, nutrition and hygiene and have made it neat, roomy and uncluttered. I love what you've done and the huge improvements you've made, subscribed.
Doing or building anything with my father is very sentimental. I hope she cherishes this perfect tiny building. It's all a person needs. Outdoor shower and toilet but I can make do,I'm sure she can too.
So nice to hazard upon your video. I had an identical Coleman which really was a joy. Your conversion is so much better and your dad's guidance supreme. It was a pleasure to listen to your thoughtful and pleasant voice. I feel almost as though we'd met for the tour. I'd definitely encourage you to do more videos. Your voice, personality and logical nature are a great combination for such efforts. I'm sure you could have great success as your style is very comfortable.
Amazing! I love it! It is definetly a master piece! It's obvious your father is very gifted. Such beautiful work. I have a 1996 Coleman pop up trailer that I purchased a few months ago. It had no refrigerator, , toilet, or sink.. I have purchased a dorm room refrigerator, a porta potty for my wife, a free used propane grill from the curb that I cut down to a double burner grill instead of the 4 burner. It looks so cute being miniturized😂. I added two small pneumatic tires on one end of the grill and a handle on the opposite end to lift and pull it around easily. I have a propane hose so it can be used indoor if raining or outside when no rain. We love being able to use it either way. I just got in my miniture stainless steel sink that Im going to add to one end miniture BBQ pit so they will stay together as a unit. . My wife prefers them outside of the popup on nice days so we have more room inside. Our porta potty has its own tent for when we put it outside of the trailer. We just got finished rebuilding the roof. Man was that a job😒 but that repair is now completed. Our pop up was gutted when we bought it. I'm retired now so this has been the project I do when its time to get away from the TV😆. We have been using a tent for years but the last time I put it up it was hard on my old knees so we decided to buy a used pop up camper to restore. We are both 60 y/o and I just retired after 30 years of welding for the same company here in Tx. Everything we have is paid for. So now its time for some enjoyment in life🙂.
This has been one of the most enjoyable videos I've seen in a while. Small spaces fascinate me, and you've done such a great job - on top of the skills you've developed while building this! Keep it forever -
So cute, I LOVE the tiny bubble window, haha. It's perfect! You seem so sweet and down to earth, thanks for skipping the unnecessary overly loud music that can sometimes ruin a great video. I appreciate the simplicity, new sub!!
Very nice conversion, but I have a couple of suggestions. 1 you should make some kind of rigid lockable cover for your propane tank and your battery , batteries should not be exposed to the elements because moister will drain your battery and a lockable cover will deter theft.2 it might be a good idea to get yourself a small portable cassette toilet they are easy to use and they can be stored under any cabinet plus they are not very expensive ,look on line for the different models, and price ranges. This will help if you have inclement weather, also will be safer for you at night. That is all I can think of ,so good luck ,have fun and may the Lord bless you .
Nice job! I did something similar to the pop up camper that I acquired for free. It was the perfect setup for 2×2 stud walls to fill in where the canvas was. I kept the rear pull out and made solid foam walls for it. Happy camping!
Trying to figure out how the foam walls work when you take it on the road. We have a pop-up we need to do something with. Weekend camping trips are almost too short for all the trouble of a pop-up
I love your style, absolutely adorable. The idea of converting to a hard shell was a great idea. You're going to have a blast. So many memories will be made. Wondering what happens in the middle of the night with no private potty? Yikes. You have planned plenty of spare space under the bed. Lots of ideas out there. Best of blessings to you.
At first I thought it was too small, but after seeing the inside I think it’s a great use of space. Very cozy. Your very fortunate to spend time with your Dad on a worthwhile project.
Greetings from England , what a beautiful camper, I've converted a 6x4 utility trailer to a sleep pod , it is nowhere as good as yours, yours us stunning ! God bless you as you travel the road, remember the journey is as important as the destination .
Absolutely loved it! So kind of Dad to lend a hand! And I like that cute bubble window too, so Cool! Only thing is, I guess I'd buy a cassette potty. PERFECT. 👍♥️☺️
Looks like something my daughter and I would do! Glad you have the same relationship with your dad as I have with my daughter ❤️. Fantastic build! Happy travels my friend 😊
So cool ! I love it, & such a great job designing it. Love the Lil windows & the Lil yellow & white curtains😁 only thing wasn't mentioned was a Lil potty, but I'm sure that's private. That corner cabinet was a lucky find! Medicine cabinet was neat idea. Can't wait to see the building & the walls how they were done. Thanks for sharing, I know your proud ☺️👍
What a cute little camper ! its funny because before you said it was a pop up !... I wanted to get it! you and your dad did a great job! love it and I really think I'm going to look for one to convert it my self as well. thank you so much for sharing ! amazingly great job!
I have a pop up camper but the canvas is wore out , and I never would of thought about doing this. That's a cool idea. I think I'm gonna have to get my old pop up out and give it an overhaul. Thanks for sharing .
Owned what looks to be the same model pop-up for the better part of 20 years. Great camping memories. You and your did did a real cool conversion and I wish you lots of great memories too.
That’s so cute!! I’d have loved to have something like then when I was younger. Especially as a teenager- it would have been amazing to have my own separate space. I didn’t even realize people could do things like this to pop up campers. I feel a new rabbit hole coming on. 🤦♀️😊
Hell yeah!nice! props to you and your dad. You can tell you and your dad are close I raised both my daughters on my own and we’re all very close I cherish every moment I hope y’all get many more 😎
The vinyl stone piece is awesome! In the 60’s in upstate NY there were SO MANY houses that had stone foundations. This looks just like them! Just goes to prove what we say in the Zentangle world: there are no mistakes; only opportunities!
This is such a sweet little space you and your dad have made. I love the ingenuity involved. Great job! I’m part of a group called “Girl Camper,” you should check this group out. We have so much fun! Women get together and tow their RV’s. We enjoy going all over the states seeing the sights!
You should ask your dad to put blinds on the windows for added security. Also a better door lock on the inside, again for security. Inside small solar generator for back up use. You both did a good job, looks good.
With my family we used to have a Star Craft pop up camper while we were camping. It was really fun in camping. Only one summer we went camping almost the entire summer. I was 6 years old going on 7 years old during the summer that my family did that. We did take our first cat camping with us. That cat wanted to go outside a lot. He was a pain while we were camping. He always came back to the site. My dad boarded him at this kennel in the town that my grandmother lived in so we went camping in Minnesota with my grandmother. She stayed in the van during that trip. This was her 2nd time in camping with us. It was fun with her. She was my father’s mother. I think that my other grandmother won’t handle camping. My father sold it towards a friend’s daughter with her family to enjoy camping in it. My last memory of sleeping in the camper was during the summer of 1990 just overnight. We didn’t take our 2nd cat camping with us. He would have been good in camping. He would’ve stayed very close to the camper and even slept with me or my sister.
I love what you & your father have done with your vintage Coleman! Absolutely 💯 functional, homey & much more secure than fabric pop ups. As a female who loves vintage Rv’s & campers this is the best pop up conversion & remodel I’ve ever seen. I’ve had several pop ups & my favorite was the 1972 Hard Side Apache Ramada which like yours was much more secure than canvas sides & that’s important to me. The only things I could respectfully suggest to you would be getting a cassette toilet or something similar to have inside so you don’t need to go outside at night. It’s not nearly as safe as it used to be camping as we all know. You could also put a little cover & cushion on it & have a little chair when not in use 😊I always carry several different types of personal protection..ya never know 😐 I also have a couple of cameras on the outside of my Rv trained on the doors & windows. You can pick up this stuff very reasonably. Beautiful Work, I’m Subscribing & Look Forward To More Camping & Camper Videos!! Thank You!!
Wowza, you both sure did make a great team getting this little cutie together. I’m sure your ideas 💡 & hard work mixed with your Dad’s skill. What awesome memories you created….just adorable. So many fun details. 💕
Without a doubt, the COOLEST tiny camper I have ever seen..... Caitlyn, thank you for sharing and taking the time to film this YT video. Amazing job! Your dad should be proud!!!! Hey dad! WTG dude, awesome camper and brilliant kid!!!!! #Blessed
From the outside it looks small, but the open floor makes it look so much larger, by far this is one of the best pop up conversions I have seen. Enjoy it, see you down the road.
That is the cutest little cozy camper!! I hope you enjoy it for many years and make lots of good memories and the one especially with you and your dad building it! A priceless memory itself! You are blessed to have a father spend such valuable time with you. Happy trails! ❤
More than perfect! Although I have a Porta potty probably under the bed that I would use as a chair when need it. Excellent arrangement! 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻Big hug from Argentina!
This is so great!!!! Im glad you got to do something so intimate with your dad... every corner has a memory. I really love it. Fairy lights and a vine or two always look nice... or some bunting 😁😁
Kick ass! Big things do come in small packages. It's so twee, but so practical. There's two handles on the sink faucet, but I assume no hot water; just plug the sink and heat water on the stove. Those three vertical cabinets in the corner are very handsome. Very thoughtful use of space and I'm sure the more it gets used, the more like home it will feel. Eeeeee, I'm so excited for the travels and adventures you'll go on with your little camper! ✌️💚🌟
I’m not sure if she has hot, probably not. Could fix that easy with a small 2-3 gallon inline (on demand) tankless heater using LP/propane. Or even electric. People use them to make outdoor camp showers real easy and she could even hook up a shower hose for outside to take warm showers outside/next to the camper! That would be a fun and worthwhile project id like to watch on here and I’m sure others would as well?
I saw this video intro and the camper looks so cute and homey on the outside, and then I thought I have to see how she is even possibly moving around in that small space let alone try to sleep in it! What a pretty, well thought out, welcoming space! You and your Dad did a super job! Happy and safe travels!
Very nicely done, it looks fabulous, such a good job on the build... I hope you have lots happy adventures and make many happy memories... Best Wishes👍👍
I used to own this exact model of trailer when my kids were small! Unfortunately, I made the huge mistake of storing it one winter next door to an orchard. Mice got in and ate a hole through the tent fabric and made a huge mess with droppings everywhere. I also stupidly left 2 rolls of paper towel in the galley which the mice completely atomized. When I opened it up the next spring it was full if white fluff up to my knees! I completely cleaned it up, patched the hole and sold it cheap to a nice young couple with a baby who were just starting out.
Wonderful build. This personifies practical planning on a budget combined with a little bit of hard work. Anyone saying they can’t afford a camper should refer to this video. Roll up your sleeves, above all take your time, and you can have something great like this.
