Love that deck! I agree with the ladder. Grrrrr! Did y’all struggle putting the horizontal bars in? They fought us so much! Might have been the humidity. The portholes only leaked on the first gen. U should be good!
No we didn't have any trouble at all with them! That's good to know about the port holes! I saw your pool video after we put this one out. I hope ours does half as good as yours!
Thinking to go intex to Coleman this year. Struggling to figure out which series of Coleman is the stronger series? Which series is stronger against salt corrosion? Trying to compare intex ultraguard against the better Coleman series. Ty Ty. Did I mention ty
@@mischafellner2892 any of the non inflatable pools will be fine. They are intex pools they just make them for Coleman so Coleman gets their name on it. You might want to look into a beefier pump tho. All the ones that come with the pump are.... lacking.
Coleman is a great pool. I retired from the largest pool supply company in the world and you did a really good job on this review. The foundation is key to how those pools will sit. And, lastly it is imperative to upgrade to a larger pump and filter, making sure it’s hooked up to a GFCI plug! A pump should run an hour per every 10,000 gallons of water per every 10 degrees of temperature to keep the water healthy and have the proper turnover rate.
Your channel is EXACTLY what I need to learn the ins-and-outs of dyi above ground pool installation and care. And I love that you're a team. So excited to find you!
This is my third year with my Coleman pool. No leaks and no problems. I winterize mine with a full pool of water and covered the past two winters. I too have the little windows in my pool.
We have this pool. A little smaller. This is a great review. I have had the pool for 3 years and 3 summers of high school boys jumping and and playing basketball. Very tolerant of rough housing. I agree. Leveling the pool is the most important thing. This is our third season and one of our port windows just sprung a leak.
Bought the 18' 48" and it's easy to set up there was no pegs it had push buttons to slide poles in. Pump works great. Coleman Powersteel pool is great. We love it
Absolutely...3rd year bought used...sturdy strong and no problems at all! My water was clear, for about a month this summer, suddenly July 4 it has been cloudy and I can't remedy it. Tool test water to Leslie's Pool, had to increase alkaline, but it's still cloudy. So frustrating!
Have you tried Clorox Algacide and Clarifier? If you have the same pool as this one, use the whole bottle. Backaash before, add the clarifier, run for 8-10 hours, then backwash again. That is what I typically do to clear it up.
@@The5MFamily I don't have that kind of pump. It's been raining sooo much. I keep adding Alkaline Up according to water test it is too low. I am so ready to drain and start over.
I'm glad someone has had a better experience than me. I'll never buy anything from Bestway usa corp / coleman again! Purchased my 18'x48" pool 5/19/21 it is 6/25/21 and they still have not sent my pump for the defective one that came with it. They now are saying it's out of their hands and is being shipped from a company they will not provide me information on. Looks like I'm out a great deal of money and I'm furious! Over 400 complaints against this company have been filed this year alone and summer isn't even over. I have filed a complaint also with the BBB . I'd be careful purchasing anything from them if I were you. If you ever have a problem you are on your own because they do not care
You can get a 24x54 summer waves pool. We had one for 5 yrs. We did switch to a Coleman pool this year 22 x 52 so we can put a border around it. Thank you for all your info on the Colman pool. Happy to know you like it better than the Intex.
Great video review fam. We have the Coleman 22x52 Ultra Steel (Grey colour) pool; and we love it. Your video was one of the best i have seen on these pools this year. We did the salt water route; and it's great on the skin. I hope you guys try it to. It's so easy to maintain. Your deck looks amazing. Can't wait for more vids. God Bless, and happy swimming :)
Prolly a little late but at 3:25 those pins you put the rubber part on the bottom it’s suppose to go on top. Slide the rubber part on the pin first then put it through.
By the way, I bought my Coleman 18 ft pool in Sept 2020, set it up straight from the sealed box this summer and it’s already leaking at 8-10 areas around the inside where the poles are. Tried getting the warranty to cover and they said it was out of the 90 day warranty for the liner. Gorilla Glue Vinyl underwater tape saved the day. Applied the tape to all the seams where the poles are, so far no more leaking.
I had a large (4'x9'x17') for years with a large sand filter. After 6 years in the Arizona sun, the material that holds the pool up, around the top frame, dry rotted & I had a tsunami in my back yard. I would suggest getting that foam pipe foam or pool noodles, split & slip them over the top where the fabric is. Just a suggestion.
Hi there. I'm new to your channel 👋👋👋 this will be my 1st purchase of a above pool. Yay 😁 my question is is the plug long enough or would I have to get an extension cord?
I love the look of the pool because it matches my resin patio furniture. What do you think of the durability of the material? It looks like it's kind of thin.
ours has been up three years and no issues with windows, I think a lot of the issues were with the first run of pools, they didn't have as wide a seam around the windows, they had like a 1" wide seam and ours has a 2" wide seam, I've also noticed some people who had leaky windows stated they took their pool down, folded it up and store it away for winter so I'm thinking the folding it up wasn't good for the seams around the windows
I want your deck. I don't think my husband thinks I need one. Or...could it be that he would have another honey do on the list..ha Interested to see what vacuum you use.
Yes, the ladder was the absolute worse!!! Make sure you take the ladder out after every use. We made the mistake and left ours in, and it rusted all in the pool. We had to drain the entire pool and start over.
I’ve had a pool for over 20 years put a piece of copper fittings in your pump, hydrogen peroxide, food grade in your water, and also use salt and baking soda and black charcoal to filter out the water for Clearwater. U thank me later
I just watched all your videos on this pool. Thank you for adding these!! I do have a question I kept seeing what looked like a skimmer that fit maybe over the side of the pool. Is that correct and did that come with the pump you upgraded too?
That is an Intex Skimmer that we bought on Amazon. It will not fit on the rail of the pool, it wants to slide off, so we just screwed the plastic to the deck.
Just ordered the intex 16 inch sand filter/pump combo. Bought the 18ft version last summer & it was a couple hundred cheaper than this year I see. The pump that comes with it is complete crap. Unfortunately our psycho Southern Winter busted the used sand filter/ pump I bought last year. This year not so lucky on buying used.
In our latest video about the pool I talked about this exact thing. With the Texas Storm in February it busted my pump as well. When I originally bought the pump, I spend maybe $200 for it. So, when the pump busted I assumed I would be in that price range. Wrong! Like you said the prices are insane. So, I spent a week searching Facebook Marketplace everyday. Finally found a brand new on about an hour away for $175. They had only used it 1 summer. I couldn't agree more about the pump they provide. I have no idea how that small pump could effectively filter the pool! My advice would be check Facebook and see what it out there. Hope this helps!
@@The5MFamily it cost around $600 for a new combo. With this past winter I felt it was a huge risk buying used. At least it comes with a warranty. This year it will all be taken down & stored just to be on the safe side.
We are replacing the intex we had as the posts rusted from the salt water. So we just got a coleman 18 x 52. We have the frame up now But notice that some of the poles are at an angle whereas others are straight up and down. Was this the case before you filled your pool? If not any ideas as to why?
As you add water, straighten the legs out. When there is about 10-12 inches of water you can move the legs to straighten them and they will stay. Until you get to that point you will be straighten the liner and poles as it fills. After about 10-12 inches of water everything should stay put. However, if your ground isn't level you will see the legs leaning as it fills more. If that happens, drain it and relevel the ground. Otherwise, if the ground isn't level the weight of the water will bend the poles.
Well shoot! We just happened to stumble across this one at the peak of them being sold out. Although, I have head great things about the blue wave brand. Hope you can get it up and enjoy it before it gets cool.
We have the same pool. Are pump stopped working after 4 days coleman kept giving me the run around about getting a new one. They told me to take it back to Walmart and Walmart told me to call them because they where completely out of the style of the pool and the surrounding Walmart where also out. Also we would of had to take the hole pool down to return it so my husband fixed the pump. But then we had to change the filter cartridge like everyday. So we bought a sand pump. over all the pool is great but the pump is horrible that comes with it. The pump that comes with the pool is to small and not capable of filtering that much water.
You got your pegs in the wrong way. The little rubber piece goes on top. Look at the pic on the box, we had to because we did the same, but corrected it!
Great info, thank you. I'm about to pull the trigger on getting one this size and I wanted to see if it was difficult to put together but it sounds easy enough. I also appreciate the "insider" tips you provided about everything. I AM curious about something; you said this is your THIRD pool in 5 years. What happened with the Intex pools? Like did they fail on you disastrously? Thanks again. I'm SO in on getting this pool now.
Nothing happened at all with the Intex. As our kids grew so did the pool. In fact, we had planned on putting our Intex back up, but it had developed some holes when we stored it. This Coleman was the only pool available, and I am so happy we got it!
Hi..I just came across your video and wanted to ask what did you use to go around the pool couldnt view very well since there are video pop ups..Looks very nice🙂👍
We used large river rocks for inside the border, and then the border is darker stone that we cut into 8-10 inch pieces. We bought it from our local stone store, as it was cheaper. :)
Hi, a ? QUESTION for you : Did you do sand on the bottom of the pool & how far in did you put the rock on the edge like is it under the pool itself or just the outside? Thanks :)
I do not recommend any type of rock under the pool. It will poke a hole in the liner. We put sand between the liner and ground, so we didn't need a pool pad.
@@The5MFamily Sorry that’s what I meant! Sand not Rock lol. Thank you for clarifying for me. I’ve been following all of your videos. You guys are the reason for my purchase. Thank you for all the great tips! All the way from New Brunswick Canada ❤️
we are looking to get this same pool. Questions: how is it after 1 year? Did you remove it for winter, if you are in a cold weather state? If you did not remove it for winter, how do you prepare it for the winter season?
Check the BBB on Bestway usa /Coleman co. Over 400 complaints have been filed against them. I have just filed one myself. I bought an 18 foot coleman pool and the pump is defective. Many others have had this problem purchased 5/19/21 and after many attempts even after my claim was approved I'm still without a pump. 6/25/21 When I call they pass me onto a mysterious 3rd party they have yet to give me a name or number but claim it's out of their hands. If I were you I wouldn't buy from them
Yes, but I don't allow to much rough housing like that. They have never broke, but ai can imagine with enough force they may. So, big intentional waves probably aren't a good idea. 😄
There's a lot of variables but you will need to either take away dirt from the high side or ad dirt to the low side or a combination of both. A tractor is best but we have also used a tiller and shovel
We laid the water hose over the top frame of the pool. We put about 12-15 feet on the bottom so it wouldn't come out. Then we used a clamp to clamp the hose so it wouldn't come out as it filled.
One video review i saw saysthat those pools are all made by same company Bestway and that they sell rights to companies like intex and coleman and they just put their own name on the pool i was just wondering if you can co firm that info
The bricks were all different sizes, but averaged 8-10 inches. We went to our local rock place, and told them the size of our pool, and they figured it out for us. Sorry that isn't much help!
I assume you mean a fence for safety purposes, like for kiddos. I'm not sure, but hopefully someone will see and comment the answer. This is a great question!
We kept it up through the winter. I typically take my down as well, but like you said it is so big I didn't want to fool with it. I didn't winterize it. I just ran my pump everyday, and added chemicals as needed. It made it through the snow/,freeze Texas had in February.
That is great! We ended up having to throw it out after one summer. The bottom of the legs started flaking off, and it rusted all in the pool. We ended up having to drain the entire pool and refill. So, just keep an eye on those legs. 😊
Hello, Actually i have a small quick question and I hope you will answer me, I just bought a new bestway 10FT round pool so do you think the filter that comes with it is enough or do i have to upgrade it to a large or sand filters? Thank you
😂 Wow $50 dollars is all it cost you, I'm Jealous!! are water bill is $175 a month every month for a fam of 4, I'm guessing it's gonna cost us around $200 hundred dollars extra on top of our $175 a month bill. we're looking at $375 to $400 hun..
