I have had the Coleman 6 person Instant Tent for many years. I also have experience of the Core instant tents. Both have the same waterproof properties, and Core have a number of extra features. The one important difference is the poles on these instant tents. Coleman have metal poles, whereas Core have a less durable hard plastic poles. This became an issue in high winds where both tents were in use. The Coleman tent survived the night intact, whereas the Core tent suffered a broken pole. I do like the Core range for the extra design features, however Colman tents are in my opinion are a better build and better able to withstand high winds. Great reviews 👏🏻👏🏻

@Flagstaf Up Thank you so much for the input and sharing about your experience! I didn't get to test them in strong winds (don't have much of those around where I am), so I'm really glad that you could get that done! Wow I didn't think that the Coleman would survive better than the Core - that's good to know! Thank you so much for your comment and your kind words, they mean a lot 😊

Core now has a blackout version of their tents, which is something I like. Would love to see a review from you on that. It seems that both & coleman have similar quality, I bet weather and knowledge plays a part in people's experiences. The door on the coleman 10p seems pretty cool going between Core 9p blackout and coleman 10p. From your reviews I am leaning toward the coleman.

I have an Ozark Trail tunnel tent with two rooms and two doors. There are several windows and I usually leave a bit of both doors open at the top so there isn't condensation. It is great in even a wind storm. Noisy, bit really great. The front room is also a screen room. I can fit two Queen air mattresses and bags etc in there. I usually just have a double and single air mattress If I could put it up myself, it would be even better. I didn't bother testing it for water resistance. I added water proofing because it seems most tents will leak. The rain fly is a long one so it goes almost to the ground. It also provides privacy if we leave the windows open at night. I have been thinking about getting an instant tent though because I would be able to put it up without help.

Your videos have been so helpful, I'm glad to have found your channel! I've been looking for a tent that my daughter and I can use to go moto (dirtbike) camping with. Even though it's just '2' of us, I'm looking at the 9 person Core easy up. That would allow us room for sleeping plus all our gear. And it also seems relatively easy to set up myself if I decide to go alone. I did have several questions. All the Core/Coleman tents I've watched you review seem to have slight leaking, particularly at the bottom seams and corners. You mention sealer; is there anything I can watch that shows how to apply to the seams/corners properly? Would also spraying the outside fabric help with the inside moisture you note, especially toward the bottom portion on the inside of the tent? Finally, can you tell me where you got the Coleman foldout (stool?) you are standing on at 6:38 of this video? I'm 5'6" and I could probably use this! Thanks for all the info you provide!

@CampingGuidance Год назад
@TheHoovercm Hey Chuck! Thank you so much for your comment and all the kind words, it means a lot. I'm really glad that you like the channel! 😊 And yes the Core 9P easy up is a great tent for lots of space, and an easy set up. It's really really long though, so I recommend keeping that in mind as well! As for your questions, I'll try to answer them as well as I can. Here goes: 1. I actually learned how to seal seams and waterproof the tent using REI's resources. I'll link an article here for you to check out: www.rei.com/learn/expert-advice/how-to-waterproof-a-tent.html This article covers not just seam sealing but also waterproofing spray! And yes, spraying the fabric will definitely help with the inside moisture, and I would recommend it if you're expecting tons of rain! 2. I used the Coleman Folding Bench and I bought it off Amazon! I tried to see if I could get the link for you but sadly I think it's not available anymore :( Don't worry I don't think you're missing out too much cos it's not the most comfy chair I have. I'd recommend going for regular camping chairs instead. I hope this helps! 😊

@@CampingGuidance Thanks for all the information, I really appreciate it! Still undecided on which tent will be best for us and me individually. I will be going by myself sometimes so still on the fence between the Core and Coleman offerings. If you were going to pick one that you had to put up and take down by yourself, and wanted plenty of extra room for gear or just to hang out inside out of the sun, which would you get? I do like the Weathermaster tents as they do have a steel pole structure as opposed to the Core's plastic structure; however, not sure if I could handle (or would get frustrated) putting up the Weathermaster by myself? Thanks again, you do such a great job reviewing all these tents! - Chuck
@CampingGuidance
@CampingGuidance Год назад
Hey Chuck! Thanks for the reply! I really appreciate it too 😊 hmm if I had to always put up tents on my own I would recommend at most a 6p tent for myself. I think 8P and 10P tents start to get a little too tiring especially because I’m not very tall 😅 that’s why I like to use the Coleman Sundome 6P quite often. (I don’t have any smaller Core tents at the moment.) It’s super easy to set up, there’s plenty of space for 1-3 people, and it’s super affordable. Packed size isn’t so big too. But that’s just my personal preference! I know you prefer something bigger and you’re taller too so you could go with something bigger. Feel free to let me know any other questions that you may have! I’d love to help you out 😊
@CampingGuidance
@CampingGuidance Год назад
Oh and for the WeatherMaster, I was able to set it up by myself but ONLY after breaking the tent in good. Some of my viewers told me that they couldn’t set it up by themselves! And I set it up without any wind too, so that made it easier. On your first go and if you camp in wind, it’s gonna be a bit of a nightmare I think 😅

I can’t decide between the Colman 10 person weather master tent and the Core 9 person instant cabin tent. On one hand I really like that hinge door with the Colman and on the other hand I really like how easy the Core goes up and it nice ventilation. I plan to do light camping with my three kids (10,7,4) and wife. Which would you recommend between these two?
@CampingGuidance
@CampingGuidance Год назад
@T Ly Hey T! Thanks for the question. 😊 Hmm, I spent a few minutes thinking about this, but it's so hard to pick between the two! You're right on all the points though, the WeatherMaster has a neat hinged door and the Core has instant tech and great ventilation. But IMO I think if the only thing you like about the WeatherMaster is the hinged door, then I think the Core tent is better for you. The doors on the Core are MUCH bigger, and there are more features like the instant set up and lots of ventilation. What do you think? 😊

would be nice if you compare the weight and the time to needed to pack up their instant tents. I notice that most videos talk about how quickly those instant tents pops up, but never talk about the hassle of putting them back in the bag when you need to leave. Also, since you did the rain test, would it be possible if you show us which is easier to dry? What methods did you use to dry the tents when you're packing up and leave?
@CampingGuidance
@CampingGuidance 11 месяцев назад
Hi there! Thank you so much for your comment and all the feedback 😃 Ah, understood. I guess because I wasn't really focusing on just instant tents in this video so I didn't mention everything I could have mentioned. I am planning a "Best Instant Tents" video sometime within the next few months, and I'll be sure to talk about those points. I felt like both the instant tents I featured in this video packed up equally easy. The 9P Core took 9 mins, and the 10P Coleman took 10 mins. I'll probably elaborate on that next time in the Best Instant Tents video. The materials both tents are made out of are pretty much very similar, so the drying time was about the same for both. To dry the tents before leaving you can use rags to get as much water/dirt off the tent before getting them into your car. Then when I'm home, I pick a sunny day and take the time to dry the tents completely under the hot sun for an hour or so, before packing them up for the long term. I hope this helps! 😊

@@dcfavorite No worries! I'm here to help as best as I can. I'm usually here once a day so you'll get a response anytime between 24-48 hours. So feel free to ask me any questions you may have 😊 Hmm I don't think cleaning the tent shortens the lifespan of it, as long as you do it gently. And also, don't pack it up long term if it's wet, or it'll get moldy. How are you cleaning your tent nowadays after using it? 😊 Oh and also, if possible, I do recommend taking your time to roll the tent up and fold it up. Once I was quickly packing up a tent because there was some rain incoming, and I accidentally forced micro holes into the polyethylene base of the tent :(
@dcfavorite
@dcfavorite 11 месяцев назад
@@CampingGuidance what you've said is exactly what I was worried about lol. I usually brush off the dirt or for a smaller tent (2 people instant pop tents) just flip and over and drop the dirt on the floor. My concern about packing up and about wet tent came from a bad camping experience. I once had a major downpour coming in the middle of the night that collapsed our tarp above the tent, we didn't have a rain fly the tent and I knew the rain would get into the tent in an hour or so. With several hours till day break, I had no choice but to move everyone into the car in the dark. By the time it was daybreak, the whole campground was like half an inch in the water. While the inside of the tent was damp and had some leaking, the problem was how to get everything back in the car when my tent is soaked. I couldn't put the tent back into the bag, just quickly tied everything up and threw it in the back of the car. Ended up with a muddy, wet, and overall very disgusting tent that I had to clean up afterwards. That's why I think it would be nice to know if there are some tricks to clean these tents, maybe make my next disaster less...disastrous? 😅
@CampingGuidance
@CampingGuidance 11 месяцев назад
@@dcfavorite Ohhh man I'm so sorry to hear that. That definitely is a really bad experience :( Could you maybe have packed up the tent before the campsite was completely flooded? Maybe that would have helped made the tent a little less muddy. Otherwise, I'd recommend just washing the entire tent down with a hose when you get back home, to get rid of all the mud. And pick a hot day to dry the water off your tent after that. That's usually what I do and it's fairly low effort, just leave it under the sun most of the time haha 😅

I wear a tent out in a year! For 40 years! If you don't waterproof your tent the first time you set it up and let it cure your going to get wet! Water is just one issue and it's not the most important. The wind is your Number 1 enemy. Add the weight of water the force of the wind it brings you to the poles, connectors, and tie downs! Plastic has no place playing a part in poles! Ever! Fiberglass poles are like slinky's in the wind and tie downs are a must yet puts all the stress on the point of attachment. It's just a lose-lose situation. Then there's uv rays! Tents no matter how many windows heat up like s human oven. This brings me to my tent! It's a one piece hot welded impossible to rip white material in a 9 x 10 cube with extra wide window coverings that rain has no chance to get in. All seams are welded, floors walls and ceilings! It reflects 99% of uv rays keeping the tent cool during the day. After a cool night shutting the tent up it will stay cooler than outside temp. For quite a while. You can touch the walls and ceiling during a heavy rain and will withstand 3/4 heavy hail. I made a inside frame of 3/4 inch conduit. If placed on water it will float and it can set in water 10" deep and still remain dry! I welded ears on the corners for staking it down and for tie downs I've never had to use on the top corners.

They never seem to discuss pole quality, which is a major factor.
@CampingGuidance
@CampingGuidance Год назад
Hi Robert! Thanks for the feedback 😊 hmm for this video I felt that there was hardly any difference between Coleman and Core tents for their pole quality. All of the tents that I compared in this video have steel poles of about equal quality and thickness. Not as great as some aluminum poled tents that I have, but definitely much better than regular fiberglass poles (which are what smaller Coleman tents are made of). What are your thoughts on the pole quality of Coleman VS Core? I’d love to hear it! 😊
@CampingGuidance
@CampingGuidance Год назад
Oh! And the poles of my Coleman instant 10P failed on me, so that’s why I recommended Core instead for instant tents. I didn’t quite like the poles of the Coleman instant 10P. I think I should have mentioned that in this video 😊 my apologies if I forgot to mention this!

Both are horrible at making bags to put the tent back into, sure it can go up fast, sure it could be windproof or weatherproof but when you are or the customer and you want to put the thing back in the bag it's like a full on struggle. the Core 6-person tent we have is great. But the bag is goes back into, really? the fixed polls are 42" long and the bag it goes back into is 43" long. I finally got the tent tight enough to fit back into the bag only after a few times of use and the zipper is broken. How can companies who make tents be so horrible at making bags to put them back into?
@CampingGuidance
@CampingGuidance Год назад
Hi Casey! Haha you're definitely right about that! The bags that these tents come in - not that great. Although my Core 9P tent was pretty big and it went back in easily! The rest, not so much, like you mentioned. Thanks for the input, I really appreciate it! 😊 I find that taking your time to slowly let the tent 'deflate' really helps the ease of pack away. Alternatively, a replacement duffel bag would work too!

All you have to do is put a tarp up above your tent. I’ve been doing it for decades these tents are not $800-$1000 tents and even if they were put a tarp up it helps you out if you’re wilderness camping you’re not going to use this tent anyways this is car camping .

Hi Bret! Thank you so much for the suggestion! I really appreciate it 😊 And I totally agree - the tarp definitely helps with the rain for sure. I could definitely be wrong though 😂 But yes that's definitely a great tip that I should have mentioned! 😊

@@CampingGuidance ok. also keep in mind, this tent fabric tears to shreds in your fingers after a couple weeks of sun. the mesh snags and tears extremely easily it's very delicate. the cordage falls to shreds and dust. the walls rip apart if you touch them. the poles bend and warp, destroying them, and they break and shatter in mildly strong storms. also the whole tent is unstable and collapses under wind and rain. it is a living NIGHTMARE. their weather system is B.S. and their advertising are lies. stakes rust and are destroyed in less than one season. absolute garbage all around.
