Ms. Maslin is older, wiser, and has had a very long career at the Times. She is experienced, so there was no need, really for her to unravel in his presence. For the most part, she just let's him talk, which yields a lot of intriguing information and insights about this man. What intrigued me about this segment, was what he said about trust. He has mentioned the dynamic of trust before, and it is another interesting, revealing part of him.
