Thank you for providing me with my daily LAUGH, Slave! 😂 Because there are literally tens of thousands of academic “philosophers” who adhere to the above misconception of what is an ACTUAL philosopher, I am loath to nominate a single person of whom to make mention. However, because the former University of Oxford scholar, Mr. Colin McGinn, claims to be the “best” philosopher in the history of humanity (a claim he has repeatedly made on his own website), I therefore have no reservations about using that fool as an ideal example for my position in relation to academic “philosophers”. In order to preface this case study, it should be noted that Mr. McGinn’s area of expertise is in the philosophy of mind, and he has written extensively on the subject. However, near the beginning of a videographed dialogue posted on the Internet, Colin admitted that he was unable to even proffer a cogent definition of the word “mind”! The fact that Colin garnered a Master of Arts degree in psychology from a prominent English university did not seem to help with his understanding of the mind, despite the fact that psychology is concerned entirely with the psyche! I am quite certain that there are several teenagers in Bhārata (India) who understand the topic more clearly than Mister McGinn, since they have been trained in Vedānta (see that Glossary entry). In fact, there is very little doubt in my mind that my precocious youngest daughter, Sītā Anna, would have much more fully understood the concepts of mind and consciousness by the time she had reached the age of TEN YEARS, had she not been (effectively) kidnapped by a devilishly-wicked, evil, demonic, violent, criminal organization, known as the “Federal Government of Australia”. In the same video, Mr. McGinn claimed that homosexuality was not immoral for the reason that most persons (though I am sure that he meant most persons in the decadent Western countries) accept perverse sexuality to not be immoral - a very blatant example of the logical fallacy known as the “Argumentum ad Populum” (appeal to popularity argument). Also, Mister McGinn claims to be a supporter of animal rights, although whether or not he is a genuine vegan is, at the time of writing this chapter, unknown, since he has either not received the Emails I have sent to him, or else he has not bothered to reply to any of them. At the risk of sounding presumptuous, I would guess that he is not an actual vegan, judging by my vast experience in the (so-called) vegan community on the Internet. Very few of those who claim to be vegan are, in fact, vegan, sad to say. Most are either plant-based eaters (in other words, definitionally-strict vegetarians) or they do not adhere to the one and only definition of the word “veganism”, as coined by Mr. and Mrs. Donald Watson, and when asked for a definition of the term, in virtually every case, tender a rather inaccurate explanation of what constitutes “veganism”. Is it possible to be a vegan if one does not know what is a vegan? Yes, indeed it is, but highly improbable, since only one who resides in a very remote region of earth would be unfamiliar with the word. Apart from his claim to be the greatest philosopher in history, Colin believes that his writing style to be among the clearest of any philosopher in history, despite his articles and books containing copious syntactic and vocabulary errors. There are a number of other truly idiotic remarks and assertions of Mister McGinn that I can quote, such as his inane positions on free-will, metaphysics, and politics, but those mentioned above should be sufficient to convince an ACTUAL philosopher of his abject ignorance in relation to all branches of philosophy and psychology. Furthermore, Mr. Colin McGinn’s books on morality and ethics would have seemed far more authoritative if he had refrained from sexually-harassing one of his female graduate students during his tenure at the University of Miami. Rather tangentially, I have personally sent Emails to literally HUNDREDS of academic philosophers (most all of them, professors at major Western tertiary “education” institutions), yet not a single one of them, including Mr. McGinn, has accepted my generous offer of a free electronic copy of this book, “A Final Instruction Sheet for Humanity”. Just see how incredibly closed-minded are the so-called “thought leaders” of our society! I honestly believe that the “problem” with these academic philosophers is that they are members of the working-class, which implies that it is their nature to work for a living, whereas actual philosophers are members of the Most Holy Priesthood, who, by definition do not “work”, but who are impelled to teach truth to humanity, with no regard of the cost to themselves. In my own case, I have been subsisting entirely Providentially for almost four decades.

Abstraction has a subjective - objective * connotation and from this, you could argue that an idea number-numeral matter linguistic semantic-syntactic pair world depends upon accepting that different representations of a number-numeral from two people implies that 'the thing in itself' is unknowable, constituting a conceptual framework for including non-numeric infinity in number theory. * In a general sense exists, independently from us.

He missed my category: material and abstract entities exist irreducibly, but so-called 'mental entities' are reducible to the other two (material + abstract), much like software on hard disk, which is a combination of abstract plus material entities.

The metaphysical and even paranormal are ripe for new discoveries and surprises. The study of the metaphysical and paranormal through the lens of science is a core principle of Theosophy. This should be their Golden Age but they seem do have been taken over by stuffy hermits and academics. I know this is blasphemy for scientists but I believe the scientific exploration of these frontiers does require a different set of questions: “why can’t this be repeated & measured?” “Why can this person levitate and bend spoons, see invisible entities, and remember past lives but not me?” We are in an era when the unseen, unknown, unexplained and unmeasurable lurk around every corner with back holes, dark matter, the nature and role of consciousness, artificial intelligence and a bunch of other stuff. Maybe scientists aren’t the ones to take on these mysteries and paradoxes but artists and mystics performing rituals and magic that resemble science?

We know for a fact from detailed, repeatable psychology experiments that human beings are terrible witnesses. We imagine things that didn’t happen, forget vital details, misidentify things, are highly suggestible and flat out make stuff up all the time. Not just bad or foolish people, all of us, just some people more than others. So, knowing this, what’s the best approach to coming to reliable conclusions about the world?

...It seems to me that with the great rise in our understanding/knowledge, and observing from the Inside of events, we are shooting ourselves in the foot, so to speak. Attempting to put All Every & Every All into present categories, there is so much more to learn/understand. In the scheme of Man it has been a minute period of Time. Please know this, there is nothing new, because it is the reorganization of old facts which creates additional understanding/knowledge. We have not even scratched the surface. Open our eyes, ears, minds, & hearts, respectfully, Chuck...captivus brevis...you tube...Blessings...Ponder this, we are born as babies, no knowledge, yet we grow, live, & learn to great heights. So when we die, we just become a pile of dirt on the floor? We all have different fingerprints. Whether you agree or not, GOD & all Science coexist in a beautiful harmony, & we have much more to learn...Blessings...

There are 2 ways to spend money. First is to make money on the money (investing). The other is for entertainment. Cutting edge physics is a major, major sink of American tax dollars because a few people find entertainment in such things. Cutting edgy philosophy is relatively cheap. You pay a few salaries and you don't need lots of equipment and technicians. And 1000x the number of people can understand philosophers over theoretical physicists.

is there any necessity in science?
@simonhibbs887
@simonhibbs887 Месяц назад
Depending what we mean by necessity, no not really. There is just what we observe to be the case. If on investigation what we had found was phlogiston, crystal spheres in the heavens and planets moving in epicycles, or even a moon made of cheese, that’s what would be in the text books.
@seanpierce9386
@seanpierce9386 Месяц назад
The only necessity is that things are not self-contradictory. There are no square circles, nor could you ever conceive of one because the axioms and definitions used to construct it contradict. Beyond this restriction, anything is possible, but only what we observe makes sense to think about. With that said, it’s my belief that physics is not so different from mathematics and that breaking physical laws is precisely the same as self-contradiction. We can only interact with other logical systems because Turing-Completeness bridges this gap.

They don't give the Nobel to discoveries in metaphysics. Maybe that will happen when such a discovery is made. They will have to come up with an actual experiment first...something that can be tested.
