Colin's Last Stand: Side Quest great video... I really do like the way you did your list, maybe you could do a 1st half of 2018 version of this. That being said, I REALLY think you should put more time into a zelda than what you did. There's so much there.
Colin's Last Stand: Side Quest Happy new year man, hope you’re enjoying ya 2018.So many good games if yet to play, havent even finished Ni no Kuni yet..Oh did you get the chance to play some Battle Chasers:Nightwar? It’s just a love letter to the old Squaresoft rpgs, definitely recommended, maybe keep it in mind.I did back the game so think what you will about that..
Love it. This ABSOLUTELY connects with an adult gamer like myself who hasn’t obsessed over EVERY game from EVERY genre last year. Just the games that a 80’s baby more than likely played or wanted to play last year.
I really really liked the way you presented this. I like the clarity and separation between things you finished and things you didn't. Thanks as always
I love how you dodged the Nintendo copyright claims with those amazing drawings made in paint. Incredible how far you're willing to go for a new video, because it must have taken hours alone to recreate that iconic moustache of Mario, and weeks to perfect every pixel in those amazing pieces of art. Absolutely mindblowing
I'm really digging side quest Colin. We don't always agree when it comes to politics but your voice in the games media was something I've always respected and largely agreed with. Happy to see you back old friend.
Collin my boy. Man is it good to have you back talking about games. I just found out about it and it nearly brought a tear to my eye. I havent been able to keep up with cls or many other chanels i follow so i didnt hear when you first anounced it. But man is it good to hear from you again in this topic.
Good vid Colin! Wanted to say that having the three categories was definitely a great way to do a GOTY list. I wish more RU-vidrs and the like actually pick up that idea because I keep trying to tell others in the comments that just because a RU-vidr doesn't have your favorite game on their list doesn't mean they think it is crap. There are so many games worth playing these days that nobody can possibly get through all of them. Anyways keep up the good work and I hope 2018 will be a great year for you!
Sony exclusives usually hover in my top 10 of any given year... but they rarely crack my top 3. Certainly not ALL three of them, lol. I think you need to branch out more and frankly, play better games.
isturbo1984 All three games have been on lots of critics' games of the year list. It's a solid list. Fact is Sony kills it most years. They certainly aren't Microsoft which at best has one contender for game of the year, if that.
+Abraham Yeah, I mean, I said myself all their exclusives crack my top 10. They make solid games. But fact still remains, the games are still limited. You can shit on the likes of Microsoft and others all you like.
I just beat Cuphead two days ago, and I couldn't help to think "Man, Colin would adore this game." The game is so charming and wispy but it has a mean challenging bite. Can't wait for you to try it. It plays like a dream with the ps4 dualshock too.
This was a nice “best of” list and the format was what helped it most. I much preferred it instead of another “top 10 “ of the year. Maybe I’m just a sucker for list based media but please do more videos like this- summing up your lists but with your own spin on them. Also happy new year Colin, very happy to see CLS (and Sidequest specifically) going well and strong into the new year.
I actually really like the way you split the games up into different categories taking games that you haven't played but are interested in into account I hope this is a trend that catches on
I think you nailed what makes Zelda BotW my favorite with "It lets me do what I think I CAN do". I love seeing something in a game that seems like I can get there and, after figuring out how to get on top of the building or whatever, finding the devs put something there knowing I'd go there. There's someone looking out for ppl like me in Borderlands and Zelda. I love it.
Colin. You are an amazing person. I started watching you on IGN many years ago when I was in university. You always stood out to me as a really beautiful person. You have an aura to me that is both wise and gentle. Your sense of humour has colour and your opinions are well thought out and have depth. You give me a feeling that reminds me of an older brother and I absolutely love you Colin. From the bottom of my heart. I'm not very vocal on the internet but I just wanted to tell you. You beautiful beautiful man. I have been through very hard times and your videos have cheered me up. Thank you so much Colin. I truly love you as a brother. I'm glad you are here on Earth =). HAHA=). Peace out Colin! I love you!
my top 5 1. Persona 5 2. Yakuza 0 3. Horizon zero dawn 4. Pyre 5. Shadow of war Have just started nier automata, so too early to put that in but i suspect it will be in my top 5 by the time i finish it
Michael Sala I feel bad about myself reading your comment I’m 37 and haven’t got around to any of that stuff yet 😭. I’ve been playing far to many games over the years.
"My suspicion is that I'm going to fall in love with this one." Cuphead is one of the few games ever that I've truly fallen in love with. Studio MDHR is wonderful Canadian story. Two brothers with a dream made a legendary game from under the roofs of their own homes. I hope you enjoy.
Hey man I've been following you and your content for I don't know 5 years now I'm really happy to see that you found your Niche that makes you very happy keep up the great work and I hope 2018 treats you and yours well also thanks for all the content.
I think the best way to play Zelda is by going in knowing what you want to do. I knew I didn’t want to do all the seeds or shrines so I just go the ones I found along the way. It was still 40ish hours but loved every minute of it and didn’t burn myself out looking for things I didn’t care about.
felt the same, Horizon was very good but by the end the gameplay got repetitive and i wasnt digging the side stories to much. By the time i got the platinum i was happy it was over. Persona on the other hand had me hooked for months on end and when it was over i felt sad because of the great story and the connection i had made with the characters
i thought it was pretty overrated, i don't see what makes this game any more fun or interesting than other open world games, it felt like more of the same to me
I own all of these games but Danganrompa (but have also heard good things) and must say they are fantastic! Damn, I'm glad you're back to talking about games. There are a lot of voices out there with similar tastes as my own but for whatever reason I've always appreciated your voice above all the others. Also, I'm glad you got to play Bloodborne for longer than a few hours! Rather late than never ;) Cheers, my dude! Keep up the great work and, as you would say...keep on learning!
Thank You! Thank you for putting Nioh on your list. I think that game has been severely overlooked and it's a shame because it is such a fantastic game. It's my personal game of the year. Great job Colin!
Hell yes, shout out to Transistor! After I finished playing it last year I went to check what people thought but generally it seems like it was overlooked. Definitely deserves more praise
Colin! Happy New Year!! I hope many good things to you sir.. Evil Within was surprisingly and pleasantly good.. I will highly recommend playing through the first game AND it’s DLC in order to truly enjoy the story. This is a game franchise that pulls at story more than most survival horror games and Wow, they have not disappointed with the sequel. Enjoy! It’s one helluva ride! Props to Prey as well! Amazing game!
Nice video Colin! Enjoyed it heaps man, would love to see you do a panel with you and other ppl in the industry like back in the day! Watching you on a panel and speak your mind unscripted used to be my favourite thing to watch on RU-vid man
When Horizon was revealed I remember saying I’ll play it regardless because I had a feeling Guerilla was gonna blow me away. Killzone always looked great and Shadow Fall teased what they could do with open worlds. Then Colin talked it up a lot and said “I played it and yeah, it is that good”. Alas, everyone I know bought it day one and loved it- even those who never heard of it. Truly a gem.
Hey Colin, Another great episode! I really like the format of your games of the year - I think the discussion of best games of the year is far more interesting than the choice of which is the single "best" game. Keep up the excellent work - your fans all appreciate it!
"How often do you laugh out loud while playing a game?" I did that last night when I played Accounting+ for the first time. Seriously the funniest game I've ever played. Give it a try!
I liked the list you posted last year on twitter better. It introduced me to some great games that were not even on my radar like Headlander, which was one of the most enjoyable experiences I've had on the ps4. This list was the opposite. I knew and already have opinions on all the games on this list. Glad to see you show you some love to TFBW however. I really had a great time with that game too and would also put it among the best games I played in 2017.
It was? Maybe you can clear something up for me. Am I insane for thinking "oh my god I'm spending way too much time fighting and not enough fucking around with the south park kids"?
Gean C totally agree with you. I loved the game but the last 3 hours dragged on, and i actually had to force myself to beat it. The first one was funner and funnier. Still a great game though.
Everything after Mephesto’s segment towards the end wasn’t very good. It was actually pretty bad. Went on too long and wasn’t fun. Some good story bits though. Everything before that was excellent. Stick of Truth is undoubtedly one of the best games I’ve ever played, so comparing it to that is slightly unfair but Fractured came close.
Dee Kay I'm gonna have to disagree with you there friend. Fighting the Stick of Truth versions of all the characters was incredibly epic and Kyle and Cartman straight up CHEATING over and over was just amazing because kids do that shit all the time. But yeah the butt mutants was very very random.
Horizon was my personal GOTY. While I had been over the open world style of games Horizon was a game I found myself being fully down the Horizon rabbit hole. I found myself exploring every inch of the map and wanting to collect every single collectible and complete every side quest. It definitely helped me fall back in love with the open world genre, and after over 50 hours (and I don’t remember the last non-Pokémon game I’ve put that type of time into) it’s definitely on my top games of this generation.
I'm glad you finally got around to the "soulslike" games. I remember you saying you weren't into them a while back, but I always felt they were right up your alley due to their punishing but fair nature.
I just found cls side quest and I'm so glad. I 100% agree with you with Horizon zero Dawn in South Park. Now I have to binge watch your channels. I missed hearing you opinion on gaming after you left kids funny.
Loved what you did with this video. I thought having the three categories was original and actually very interesting, not sure i would have liked the video as much had you just had your top 5 games of the year. Plus i loved your choices and was so happy to see you finally gave bloodborne a real go!. awesome video keep it up!
My 5 favorites 1. Super Mario Odyssey 2. Yakuza 0 3. Xenoblade Chronicles 2 4. Uncharted: The Lost Legacy 5. Resident Evil 7 Never would've thought I'd have a mainline, numbered Resident Evil game among my year-end top 5 ever again as the series had fallen hard after 4 but 7 is phenomenal. Loved every minute of it.
