Advance Wars: "For your Technique, you are awarded 0 points." Colin: "I think upon review you'll find that I didn't lose any units, and thus my technique was perfect."
I bet I know what's going on. Lash's AI must be programmed to prioritize terrain advantage over everything else (given how her passives work). Unfortunately, they didn't think to maybe put capturing properties higher on the priority list than seeking advantageous terrain. So the AI won't give up the HQ, which has the highest possible terrain advantage in the game.
I think it's much simpler than that. In lieu of units to fight, the AI units are simply directed to head towards the HQ. The tank gets there first and has no reason to leave since there are still no units to fight. The infantry then can't move onto the HQ to capture it.
@@aapjew18 That's the thing, units are able to move off of properties to let Lash capture them. But not the HQ. I think its star value takes priority over capturing it, because her AI is coded wonky and to prioritize the terrain advantage game.
@@driumissimo Hmm, the tank moves off of that factory a turn before the infantry can capture it though. It moved to a spot closer to the HQ and it was moving the turn before that. So that's still just explained by moving to HQ.
"Sir! There's bombers flying overhead and tanks rolling through the street outside the HQ! Plus, they just built a Medium Tank in one of our own factories! We have to do something!" Colin: "Nah, I think we'll be okay. Since you're here, wanna join me for a quick game of Advance Wars? I brought a Link Cable and everything." *Meanwhile, outside...* "Oh, COME ON! I wanna get inside this HQ to capture it, but this tank that some RANDOM GUY left sitting here is blocking the street! Now what do I do!?"
Sturm: Lash, I've read your last mission report and I'm both very angry and very confused. How is it you've completely failed to capture the enemy HQ in 14 days while having unit superiority AND meeting absolutely no resistance? Lash: There was a tank in the way! Sturm: A tank? Lash: Yes! It was in the way so I couldn't capture the HQ! Sturm: You mean the tank you control...? Lash: Erm...Why can't tanks capture enemy HQs anyway!? Sturm: That...That is a good question. Get out of my sight while I ponder on this.
Lash on Day 14: "...Y'know, in hindsight, maybe capturing a bunch of properties out in the middle of nowhere when even the enemy doesn't care about them was a dumb move. Lets' bounce." Colin: _*Climbs out from under his desk_ "...Are they gone?"
Veteran Soldier: "Yeah, I've fought in the Colin wars." Grandkids: "Wow cool, how many bad guys did you kill?" Veteran Soldier: "None." Grandkids: "Oh, so you performed more undercover tasks etc?" Veteran Soldier: "Nah, not really, no..."
"My officer employed a brilliant strategy: he gave us all paid time off so we wouldn't enter battle." "That sounds really dumb." "That's what I told him, 'till our enemy rolled up to HQ and were too confused to attack before reinforcements came."
Why 0 technique?! This is by far the smartest move ever!!!!!!!!!!!!! Not even Sun Tzu can think of this!!!!!!!! Heck, I feel stupid for not knowing this!! Einstein would give this a Noble prize if only the game did not give it ZERO TECHNIQUE!!!
@@ethanwhitehead2085 Yeah that's a shame, given how some levels have deliberate tactics you're supposed to figure out and use. You'd have thought this "secret" option would get you the best marks, but then again it's more likely a bug in the AI.
Rts game logic: Invading enemy: starts off with a fully functioning base with control over half the territory to be captured Defending force: a pistol and a full tank of gas
It's a very simple tactic. You're leaving your base undefended and allowing your opponent to advance freely until they run our of fuel. Once air support arrives It's all over.
*Tank:* I have claimed this HQ as my own, and I will not move for anything! *Infantry on Day 13:* Uh, y'think you could get off the HQ? I kinda need to capture it. *Tank: I. Will. Not. Move. For. **_ANYTHING!!!_* *Lash:* Yeah, leave the poor tank alone, you big dummy! *Infantry:* **sigh** It's official. Black Hole is led by idiots. No wonder Sturm got his ass royally kicked in Cosmo Land. Bet he did real stupid shit, too, like going after APCs for no apparent reason. *Sturm:* You don't understand! They were just _sitting there._ Looking so _juicy!_ You would've done the same thing!
@@aboveaveragegaming5503 The infantry thar the factory produced on Day 13 would have finished capturing the HQ on Lash's final turn if only that tank had moved
Hawke: "so... you had them dead to rights, not a single shot fired and basically every property was under your control..." "...yeah..." "...and you didn't capture the HQ... why?" "the terrain advantage was for my tanks!" *gets bapped with rolled up report*
Given that Colin's supposed to protect these properties you'll expect them to already be in his control, and if he's given a couple of pre-deployed units he probably could've stand a fighting chance
@@butteredsalmonella Because this mission does not care if you are routed. The only thing it cares about is if your HQ gets captured or if 14 days pass.
Colin: I suggest you leave immediately. Lash: Or what? You'll release the dogs? Or the bees? Or the dogs with bees in their mouth, and when they bark they shoot bees at you? Well, go ahead! Do your worst! (Slam) Lash: He locked the door!!!
I'd like to think the tank that's parked in Colin's HQ is commanded by Flak, who's just sitting there twiddling his thumbs wondering where Maximum Dumb is.
Standing here... im standing here, he was standing here but whos to stand, standing to wrong when our standing is down i think we can both agree standing breeds standing, but it has to be standing.
Lash: C'mon my monstrous little minions, fire at will! 14 days pass... Lash: I took a 2 week nap to find the enemy's HQ uncaptured. WHAT THE HELL? Minion: you said to fire at Will. Lash: Yes, so why didn't you? Minion: Well, Lady Lash, there was no one named Will in the enemy army. Lash: Why did you not take their HQ? Minion: You said fire at Will. We spent the time doing as you asked, we searched for someone named Will to fire at. Lash: ..... I'm out. I'm surrounded by IDIOTS!
@@eduardobonilla3178 aún una clase de videos de Mario Party, en las que Luigi gana sin hacer nada, por incompetencia de la IA, por eso es conocido el Meme de que Luigi gana por hacer nada
Well if I am right technique counter is based on units that you have lost .if % of loosed units is small then technique counter is high .In this case technique meter says 0 beacuse there were no units produced . Same like with power meter which is based on how many units you had destroyed .
@@lordbekon6133 dude this comment is three years old. Also reminds me of a tactic I did in a similar level except I hit and run a few units amd then hid in the corrals to get s rank by waiting it out lol.
Nah, because then all it would take is a couple black bombs and battlecopters to completely cheese victory. I’ve literally wiped out entire fleets before in multiplayer, and they’ve came back to kick my ass too 🤣
"All I'll gain now are more casualties." Wait, MORE casualties!? How is it that you already have casualties? Did one of your troops trip on their way over here, or something?
I bet Reboot Camp will fix this by ensuring defeat once all your Factories and other Deployment Tiles are captured if you haven't deployed any units yet.
We knock on this, but I think it's impressive the AI is doing so much without an opponent to work around. A human would just get bored or wait with no enemy.
