Yes!!!!!! I go to Alabama every year. Everybody both white and black can throw down in the kitchen down south PERIOD. Even the Chinese food buffets that aren't corporate down south have that zest of the south to it. It's true!! I looove my southern roots all four of my grandparents were southern.
Then my ass needs to become southern cause that sounds good as hell

Reminds of the time I made biscuits and gravy for my team when I worked for Sears. There was this older black lady named Barbara, I called her The Saint, she was from the Texas panhandle. I made her a plate, of course asked her for feedback if she had some. A half hour later she walks up to me with an empty plate and I just said, "Did you like it Ms. Barbara?" All she said in response was "Oh baby" and she walked away. One of my favorite moments in life.

As someone who grew up and lives in the South, this here peaks my interest and would probably make any Southerner happy cuz you got good wholesome sides along with the epitome of southern cuisine, fried chicken 🍗 and you stuff that goodness into the fried chicken?? This is exactly how I felt the first time Auntie May had the neighborhood kids over for Summer Break BBQ. The first Saturday of summer break, Auntie May would cook the biggest soul food spread, ever. Black, white or purple, if you were under 18, Auntie May had a place for you at her table. She’s been gone for 30 years, but every time I watch this clip, I can hear her yelling from her porch, FOODS ON, COME AND EAT!!!

Lol I used to have a southern black woman as a resident I helped out a lot. I had to come over one day to her apartment for something and she was cooking up something delicious smelling and it was ham hocks and collards and she sent me home with some and it was SO good! About a week later she cane into my office with fresh ham hocks and collards you can only get on base and told me how to make it. Grateful to that sweet woman. This looks divine ❤️
