Do you want to learn how to grow your own native plants from seed? Dr. Larry Mellichamp breaks down the fundamentals of collecting, preparing, and sowing native seeds so you can get started at home. From large fleshy drupes to small fluffy seed heads, knowing how to harvest, handle, and plant your seeds is crucial to successful germination!
Though we will all miss Dr. M's presence, we are fortunate to continue learning from him. Many thanks to the UNCC Botanical Garden for recording the footage used here. Check out some of his previous presentations below.

The Charlotte region is home to the Southern Piedmont Chapter of the North Carolina Native Plant Society. Our mission is to promote the enjoyment and conservation of North Carolina’s native plants and their habitats through education, protection, promulgation and advocacy.
The Southern Piedmont Chapter meets the second Sunday of most months during the year. Our meetings are both virtual and in-person open to the public as well as members-only hikes and other events.
