Chris H I'd love a Jonny Smith type idol chat series with Chris C, Manish, Neil and Edward. The Idol chat you did with Jonny is epic and it would be great to see you be the host unearthing the backgrounds of you podcast colleagues!
Edwards 911 story! Mine is the 944 as a kid. Probably what instigated the love of cars. Also best rear seat, primary school, back in the 90s dad had a 750il with a tv in the back with a VHS slot 🤣🤣
Enjoyed this in person on Sunday, thank you. Against a back drop of stunning machinery / the odd start up and not forgetting a certain woofer keen to join in… 😂 There were no retakes - was impressed it’s as relaxed and genuine as it appears - friends chatting / others enjoying in a ‘safe space’ - top work 🏁
Thanks so much for joining us! Glad you enjoyed. The next live podcast will be at our Coffee Run on the 16th September at Bicester Heritage - register to attend for free here - collectingcars.com/events/uk-saturday-16-september-coffee-run-bicester-heritage. Hope to see you there.
Also a new defender driver is the sort that doesn’t move over on a country lane where an old defender driver would drive halfway into the hedge to let you past.
17:00 Manishs psychopath test happened to me, lady in front still had the engine running, looked me in rear view mirror, laughed and decided to turn engine off instead of moving forward! When she was in paying the other cars to the right moved off and I moved to the pump in front of her and she got blocked in and absolutely hit the roof! Karma.
Neil: you say you aren’t able to love a Japanese car. Have you seen in person the Toyota 2000GT? Style, grace, performance, c’mon mate that has to be the one.
My wife enquires why the start time is now 9am. Mrs M, usually listens to it whilst applying her make up and now has to wait until 6pm as she, like many others will be at work. Please can you see fit to amend this. Regards, Mr M.
I had the pleasure of attending. Very fortunate as I was already coming to the Sunday at the Concours. Great live show, lots of fun. I listen every week. Best podcast by 'miles'
2024 Car companies should offer a base spec, luxury spec, sport spec and a 1980's spec on all the cars they sell. The 1980's spec would have no screens, no electronic aids. Just all analogue and buttons with pop up headlights.
Those troosers are outrageous I wondered what had happened to my old Grannies table cloth ! Love pop up headlights , I bought a 944s2 twenty odd years ago loved that car especially driving it at night , it was an event turning the knob and seeing them rise out the bonnet . That last statement sounds slightly weird .😂
Pay at the pump. I prefer a coffee to a Costa, In 10 years time we will just be filling up with Ammonia . Remember the forecourt sign "Free Nelson Mandela - with every 4 gallons " ! The rear of a Phantom. 'Space ,Grace and Pace ' (Jaguar brochure slogan for years ) The McLaren F1 had an onboard toolkit with solid Titanium spanners included. Cinderella was OK with 'Buttons' . The instruments in an XK140 the white needles swept past the black face with white numerals of the huge dials.
BMW trunk lid mounted tool kit was awesome, had it in the E39, no longer on the E82. Would add, spare tire, full size ideal, but even a mini spare is a nice to have with complete lifting/jack set.
Yep, I don't get the Alfa Romeo 33 Stradale either. A cynical play on one of the most beautiful cars ever. The building of supermarkets in petrol stations (whilst useful) totally interrupts the refuelling process. Its total chaos whilst someone does their bloody weekly shop! My car has the filler on the ns, which is an advantage and often pushes me up the waiting list. I have noticed that if you do move your car to the benefit of others, you usually get a snide remark from the attendant ( who has probably already alerted the police), making you feel like a criminal. Shadow still the best rear seat, although in my youth good experiences in the back of a Maxi 😉
Adding to the pop-up headlights discussion, how do we feel about modern interpretations of those headlights ie the “eyelids” on the Ferrari SP3 Daytona?
This #podcast goes from strength to strength! It is soo good! I look forward to it each week! Keep them coming and you guys need to go on a road trip together and film it!😅❤
I hate it when I agree with Harris. But I completely agree on everything concerning the Alfa 33, I Also don't like the "new" 8C, but in fairness it's a well designed car and I understand why many say it's beautiful, it just doesn't do anything for me. And I'm almost embarrassed, but I even concur with him on the 911 Targa. It's gettin' worse, but even regarding the 275 (SWB) he has a point.
Does nobody have a reverse gear in their car! - f*cks sake get on withit! Chris is 1ft 7inches shorter than me!!!! all my years in the motor trade and the 'heightest' crap I hav hear...
RU-vid is flawed, you should be able to 'Like' something multiple times. Post-Diablo Lambos, Esso glassware, pop-up headlights, Neil's elegant description of Cycling Mikey, the accidental f-bomb, anything Manish says - I could go on.
I hesitate to criticise the best motoring content by far, but it is true, it works better in the conference format. The team members look far more relaxed and there are no restriction on Anglo-Saxon language either.
@@gordonsimpson3235 Totally agree, I really cherish this show and I look forward to it each week. It's like a gift. Two car garage is a modern classic.
I'm guessing it's stopped because it doesn't make money. 20-30k views per episode is possibly decent for the genre but it's not going to make you want to do it continuously for no reward. I don't want it to finish btw, I enjoy the chat.
That's much better Chris Cooper mic not working , that's why you have diffent colours (make sure orange goes to Chris c guys ok) Epic as always, don't worry Chris we could hear you and without all of you yhe POD would be the same.. thanks for your efforts guys. Epic
I would love to hear you lecturing automotive designers about their tendency to design agressive front grills. Why are they pandering to the neanderthal, unfortunately among us. Isn't there already enough agression without adding more to your car? Audi used to have normal sized grills until the naughties. They had understated elegance. Now they're just like Chryslers. Don't get me started on Beemers and Lexi.
Completely agree with Chris C on the 33. It’s a shameless ploy from a dying brand capitalize on their history and if I were to choose a reimagined car from the past, I’d go with the Vision 111. Mercedes did a way better job reimagining the C111 than Alfa did with the 33.
The French definitely don’t have the forecourt etiquette right. This past weekend, we sat behind an empty car for 5mins, eventually beeping so the guy came out to move, at which point he drove round to the other side and started filling up! He had just parked next to the pump and walked inside to use the toilet or something.
Hand held microphones awful. Could barely hear some of it. Live show only half as good as conference mode. Latter is more relaxed, better interplay, less stilted.
We had a car salesman that went to bmw bristol when hartwells rover where I worked closed , I suspect he may have worked with Edward , and another story I used to get the bus to work and had to get off and walk up the hill to Clifton a mechanic would pick me up in his 950 fiesta and handbrake round the sharp bends up to Clifton and his party piece was he would handbrake into the parking space at the top .😮
Watched this in the early hours, per my "normal" at the moment. Congratulations on the 34th episode. It was nice to see that the virtual chemistry you 5 have is also seen in the physical world where you are all together..... and the relaxed conversation/content is SO different from the prescribed and obviously scripted TOP GEAR days of the Clarkson era and more recently, I hope the "show" continues to adapt and develop and endure. We need to know the story of Neil's trousers! Raised before....will you be filming and releasing a video of the forthcoming track day? CC launching a Classified section....what took so long? Finally, would you consider doing a coffee run further south west [Exeter?] - it's a long way up to Bicester and back in a day
Best rear seat was been driven back from the pub by Paul Horrell in a brand new E39 M5 on a country Lane 5 up. It wasn't his and he hadn't been drinking!
This is how you fill up at UK petrol stations using automatic-mode (not having to hold the trigger the whole time): ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-xq8O535hLsw.html
Fantastic as always, gents. The Classifieds sounds great - would love to see 'Interior colour' in there as one of the possible search criteria, if not at launch then perhaps in a later update? Keep up the stellar work 👍🏻
Bugger, I'm racing at Snett on the 16th or I'd definitely be at the coffee run event. Maybe publish a calendar of live events for the year! Give us a chance to plan?! ❤
I think the hand held microphones have ruined this episode. Very hard to hear and understand. You should have worn head sets with face mics for clarity. Next time.
Neil, the serial phone user behind the wheel, thinks that someone who catches people using their phones behind the wheel is a "dreadful individal". Now there's a suprise... 🤡 37m 20s @cyclingmickey
The moving away from the pump scenario… doesn’t the pump remain inactive until payment has been made anyway? Moving to the space outside wouldn’t necessarily help in this situation, in fact it could cause more frustration with someone trying to use an inactive pump. I take the point about easing congestion but ordinarily, I’ll leave my car at the pump and try and get whatever else I need in the shop in double quick time. Keep it up lads, highlight of my Friday morning!
