Collecting KISS Cassettes 

Wow, this is the stuff that makes me want to live in a different time! Cassette tapes are always fun to collect! I have Dressed to Kill, Destroyer, Love Gun and the Forever single on cassette and I could’ve had the Creatures with the 1985 cover but I never got it, foolish mistakes. And one of the coolest things in my opinion about collecting cassettes is seeing the color of the tapes because Destroyer and Love Gun have a pink tape, Dressed to Kill and Forever are a translucent light blue

I ❤️ your love for cassettes. My fist Kiss albums were cassettes between 1984-1989 I got my first cd player in 1990. Maybe after I finish the 8 track rabbit hole(probably won't ever get cotn-animalize) I will move back to this nostalgia. Thanks Ric, great video as always 👍!!!!

Thank God above we have stellar KISS fans like you. It's always a pleasure to view each of your episodes and see how you have taken such good care of all your memorabilia. Now I have to go and gawk at my cassettes. Love the variants you showcased. I have some 1997 Remasters . So refreshing to come home after a hard day at the office and watch your episodes!!! A friend was leaving town and had a combo of his and his older brother's cassette collection to give away back in '99. He emptied a closet with many Kiss tapes that I took and still have. Destroyer, Rock and Roll Over, Love Gun, Alive II (no cover), Double Platinum (first Vol. only), Dynasty, The Elder, Killers, Animalize, Smashes Thrashes and Hot in the Shade. Quite the haul for free. I was doing him a favor as he was needing all the room in the trailer to take him to Dallas. Also, I got the Elder as well in that sound saver package in '94.

Ahh yes..the cassette era. Much better than the 8-track era. Cassette tapes lasted longer, and (usually) kept their recorded sound integrity long after they were frozen in your car in the middle of a Canadian winter. Oddly, commercial cassette tapes from KISS were only found in limited quantities in the cassette tape section of the alphabetic 'rock bands' bins at the record stores. "Sam the Record Man", "A and A Records" and "MusicWorld" comes to my mind. I remember the 'Sound Savers' promo. Did Large Marge ever hear of the 'half-back' promo exclusive to Canadian music? It lasted somewhere between '78 to '82. Your KISS Dynasty cassette would have cost $6.99 Cdn. back-in-the-day. I can't remember seeing anything commercially produced from KISS on cassette until 1985. I have a fairly large KISS cassette collection myself. I have all the cassettes from KISS 74 to the Detroit Rock City Soundtrack, including the KISS Remasters from 97 on cassette. I also have cassette singles, post solo album cassettes, and a few special gems. I remember I had to get the CD to play in the house and the cassette to play in the car, too. Lol Take care.

Cool collection !! Sweet!!!!!!! The only cassettes I have are KISS Alive lll , Smashes,Thrashes, and Hits and Hot in the Shade... also Ace's Trouble Walkin' and Live +1...I wish I had them all on cassette!! Cool video and I love your couch as the presentation table...like all your vids. That wax night couch means so much to us all now..lol

Another Great show. Still love your Canadian collection version best out of all the dynasty tapes. The front cover with the layout and fonts of the collection just have the aesthetics of this Christmas feel vibe. Have a Great weekend man.

I remember those longboxes well.the absolute worst squealing copy of Hotter than Hell I've ever had..😁 but I'm so glad we had those.remember when The Elder popped up out of nowhere on CD in 1989?

One of these days I'm going to donate something to the Basement man👍✌ edit: the one thing I have left from those days is a four CD set called First Kiss.it has the 1st 3 plus Destroyer in a four pack clear plastic box.one little red round sticker has the title.i remember working all summer at my Dad's moving company and special ordering that and Alive 2 from Record Bar in the mall.when I went to pick it up with my 13 year old self they stopped and asked "do you really have enough money to buy all this?" 😁hell yes I did🔥

Excellent video Brings back great memories of a more simple time. Last year are community has having a yard sale. I saw this 15 year old boy with his friends walking down the street. He was holding on to a bunch of cassettes he just brought. The one I saw was Kiss. I ask do you like Kiss and his response was who doesn’t. I was floored. So I went into my house and brought out stacks for cassettes. I told him to pick some out. And gave them to him. His eyes light up like a kid at Christmas. Kiss Army

Rick, what a great throwback with these cassettes.........love the Case Logic cassette case, I had the same one I kept under my car seat & I had them filled with cassettes........a huge amount of them were of course KISS. What I did when I had my first new car with a cassette deck was tape my KISS discs on to cassette & play them in my car. So I had CD quality in my car. Of course once my next new car had a CD player, so my cassettes went away.....great memories Rick as always buddy..........see U tomorrow on my stream buddy!!!!!!!!!!

I think I seen that dynasty tape you was talking about that was $100 if it was on eBay ! I think it was u k version! My first kiss tape was the 78 solo compilation! Still have the carry case their in from the 80’s! You know how I mentioned mr speed unveiling the fox! After I had told you that! I went on their site and was looking at the tour dates! To my surprise they are coming here June 2nd! They are playing the same place where I saw the hot in the shade show! I’m like (yes🤘)! I took my mom to the ace show and I’m gonna take her to this to ! She’s 79! I can’t wait ! This year is starting off awesome !!!! Space ace ron⚡️⚡️⚡️

Sophomore year was around the time I got my first CD player too, 1991. My first two CD's were the Lemonheads and Toad the Wet Sprocket, haha! You can also chalk me up as someone that enjoys the new tunes on "Smashes"! That was the last KISS album I bought on vinyl before moving to tapes..👍🏼

I love Smashes and the extra songs as well Ric. I have a few Kiss cassettes I've found out there. I have a Hotter than Hell sealed with TG&Y sticker on it. Kiss collecting is fun.

Nice collection! There are cassettes available You Wanted The Best and Greatest Kiss, and Psycho Circus.

Heck yeah I love the two new track and the whole album as well. It was my fist introduction to the KISS classics. The Cassette bug has got me too. Sad par i got rid of my KISS cassettes about 6 years ago, before the podcast and I kicking myself!!! Unless they are still in the garage somewhere but i got rid of a lot of cassettes.... ugh. Sound Saver!!! The Australian cassette has a great cover!!! I' that way with Revenge as you are with Dynasty. Sure I'm picking uo some other things but the majority of my (Rob's) collection will be Revenge.... and Carnival of Souls... and all things Eric Singer. Thanks for another great video!! Plus thanks for this kind shout out!!!

I don't know how hard to find they are, but I got Unplugged and Psycho Circus on tape.

Still have my cassettes on my bedroom walls,all 450,ALL metal...and,of course my treasured KISS tapes from "KISS" to "Psycho Circus"(not including all my KISS 8-tracks,LPs,and 45s)....The only KISS tape I DON`T have is "The Originals"--have no idea why,but I just never came around one to buy...Anyway,I had a dozen ,maybe more(80s memories one big blur,if any I`ve got left)from the "penny"deal--that`s how I bought my first RATT,Crue,WASP,Scorps,Metallica tapes,in `84........Thanx,from Class o` 89-the Youth Gone Wild....

The Japanese versions are so great! Took me a minute to get those! Great vid☺️

You're gonna love Alice Cooper's - Da Da album. It's different, but it's cooler the more you listen to it. My favorite all-time album in my collection is Project Infinity by Man Or Astro-Man? ( Sci-Fi Surf)

That's a lot of Dynasty, I never had this on cassette but I do still have the 8 Track and as with a lot of 8 Tracks the song order is different, the lead off track is 2000 Man into Magic Touch , good stuff I always learn a lot watching

When CD's came out, I tossed out all of my KISS cassettes like an idiot! 😭😭😭😭😭😭

Do you have any KISS 8 Tracks? You should do an episode dedicated to the mighty 8 track. I've been trying to talk the guys from KISS My Collectibles into doing an 8 track episode which would be BOMB

Did you have Kiss on Vinyl before your first cassette Gene Simmons? if an album is only a penny and although this isn't todays times it's around 1989 why weren't you allowed the albums? if you went to a record store cassettes back then would probably cost about 5.00 dollars or so but this was 1989 ?

Not gonna lie, never liked anything about cassettes. Sound sucks, small cover art, they crumpled way too easy. But there's that one thing about cassettes that kicked ass......MIX TAPES 🤘. All that said, i kept just about all my cassettes, can't seem to part with them 🤷‍♂️
