I did something similar with a Space Hulk 1edition (and expansions), I purchase old metal terminators to replace the plastic figures, librarians and grey Knights, take a lot of time, specially because I was looking for Space Wolves figures were was possible. but was worth it.
Nice. I also have an Advanced Space Crusade project on the go where I am trying to get one of each type of unit from the extended roster. I am not replacing any of the original plastics though, as I love those too, and I am actually using original plastic Space Hulk terminators for my terminator contingent there.
That's a crazy project you've taken on there! Admirable but crazy. I've just recently dug out my Advanced Heroquest again and am really enjoying it. It was the game that got me hooked on Skaven. I have all of those minis and quite a few more from that era - most of them with truly appalling paint jobs 🙂
Advanced HeroQuest is one of the greatest games ever made, so I thought "why not take a stab at getting examples of all the lovely miniatures?" I may never get them all but I am happy with my collection so far.
There has been a lot of speculation about whether there was some sort of cloning accident. Regardless, it always brings a warm feeling to see those good ole molds.
These are awesome, congrats for the good finds. I recently had an interesting project with Ashish the Black: got him in an ebay lot, but the legs were broken off at the ankles. I used the net as a pinning anchor point to the base, and an unlucky clanrat donated his plastic feet which I then glued and putty-ed for my Gutter Runner. An involved rescue operation, but worthwhile for an old Goodwin model. Definitely looking forward to seeing more rats on this channel💪
If anything, you got some classic stuff for whatever purpose you want to use. At least, unlike current GW products, there is a excuse for these being pricy due to them being out of production.
I presume the other advantage of the models having a “flat” style pose (from making single piece casting easy) is it makes them easier to rank up for warhammer battles?
I have a similar goal although realistically I am only picking out some favourites - very admirable as I have some of mine from the 90s too!! I think I’m most pleased at having the Chaos Sorcerer myself
I like seeing how your collection of older models is coming on, and it seems to be going very nicely. After a conversation with you about the C47 Skaven I also set myself a long term, and maybe impossible target - to collect at least one of each C47 models except for the standard bearers and musicians (because they are not used in Warhammer Quest 1995). I think there are 46 that I need, and I have 24 so far, not bad but a long way to go. They will be used as characters, leaders, and champions in WHQ 1995, to add a bit of interest to the various Skaven missions (there are quite a few). It is good to have a long term project, even if it may never be complete, so please show us some more when you get some new additions.
That's a decent chunk of the collection! Well done. Let's hope the ones you have are the ones I've got, and we never have to quickdraw each other on an eBay listing!
I definitely hope we don't bid against each other, and push the price up, but it may well happen. Do you know how many of the Advanced Heroquest Skaven you have now, and how many you still need? I particularly liked the poisoned wind globadier with the spear, even though it isn't a C47 one. Really nice, that one.
Given as I understand Gutter Runners are Assassins in training… Does anyone care to shed light on Adv Heroquest rules where Assasins have a special ability, that allows the GM it seems, to place them, not in the room where heroes discover them but in a corridor in a position where they still have a line of sight on the heroes?? If I’ve even got that correct..?. I don’t really understand this ability, as it’s not as far as I can see given much explanation in the rules. But I would love to know, as I’m always looking for new ideas and special abilities for these kind of enemy characters. …. I’m actually trying to decipher advanced hero quest rules as we speak, to eventually start a game!
Assassins give the dungeon master +2 on surprise rolls. If they win the surprise roll, the assassin can be played anywhere in the dungeon as long as it's within line of sight of the heroes.
Great finds and excellent additions to your collection. Jes Goodwin Skaven are hands down the best, pretty sure Einstein stated its one of the universal truths, also explains why GW designers gave up sculpting, you can't top Jes Goodwin.
@@AlwaysBoardNeverBoring GW could get every Skaven, Elf, Realm of Chaos Jes Goodwin miniature and rerelease them and they'd still sell, or scan each one and virtually rescale each to fit the scale creep and then rerelease them and we'd still buy them.
@@AlwaysBoardNeverBoring I'm just spending less time on youtube generally. It's an awful time sink if you let it be. Also starting up graduate classes on Tuesday again. Not sure why.
