Love the note about CBCS and the differentiators. I wish that helped CBCS fetch a relative amount of $$$ to CGC graded comics, but there is still a notable difference in price in comparable grades between the two. The free notes are so great for CBCS. I still convert to CGC from time to time until the prices of both become more comparable in the same grades....especially with higher end comics. I think the grader process is also something to note with CBCS
I have never submitted to CBCS. Only because the dealers I submit through primarily deal with CGC. I would like it if CBCS books fetched the same amount of money that CGC graded books do. Level the playing field.
As usual Regie excellent recap...90's books I just don't know...you and the Bloggers mentioned the census...so lets talk about that Spawn #1. CGC census has it with 6 books at an unheard of Grade 10 and over 17,000 other books in the census...( okay not a large number if your a Card guy...anyway) for us comic folks that's huge. A Grade of 10 is unheard of, and I am watching Spawn increase in value...if our hobby stays true to form when there is a higher Graded book then the one you own, yours is not as valuable as an investment as that higher graded book. To find an actual 10 in a secondary market??? In perspective there are just over 3400 AF#15 in the CGC census 0 of them are 10 or 9.9, there is only 1at a 9.8...I know they are older books etc...but 90's books were printed in volume. Going back full circle to the blog about who you are, a collector, an investor or a speculator, I truly hope that the interest in the 90's books are collectors and not someone taking out mortgages on their houses as mentioned in another video... my personal opinion only...its not a good bet.
@@Boxingbear Well as a collector myself I send many of my books to pgx and I could care less bout about the opinion of other collectors on pgx. I choose to make my own opinions instead of going with the masses that say CGC is number one
@@Mike_oliver1313 To each their own. The masses determine prices though, PGX books are not sought after and do not command the respect of the industry. So good luck with that when you go to sell.
@@Mike_oliver1313 In that case you have no worries. The story that was circulating about PGX was that their grading was awful and that when they first started out they were handing out much higher grades than the books warranted in order to boost the perceived value of comics that they personally owned, or that their friends had graded through them. BUT, the guys responsible for those shenanigans are no longer with PGX and the current owners are trying hard to restore the company's reputation and integrity.
Considering current prices do you think it makes sense to sell a grail book (in this case a graded Giant Size X-men?) I’m looking to buy my first house this year, and the book’s value increased 6 times since I got it just a few years ago. Am I crazy to let it go now?
I’d sell in a heart beat if it means it allows me to buy my first house... keep a comicbook vs buy a home shouldn’t care if book goes up from now.. should be happy with gains and hope house provides happiness to you and your family for many years
