Certain old CRT TVs are actually very sought after by retro-gamers. Something like the PS2 is now 20 years old and it can give some trouble to modern TVs. You can find dedicated adapters to convert ye old cables out into HDMI to the TV to take advantage of the newer technology, but they come with their own set of issues. You can also emulate old consoles, but for some gamers the there is always something that feel a little bit off with it.
Yep, I keep telling my kids we need a CRT to play my PS2 otherwise it just looks like someone smeared Vaseline over the screen on a modern tv. I'm interested in the upscalers but the good ones seem quite expensive and require a lot of calibration per console.
Good banter on this one lol. But you can’t hate the guy for having a CRT to play retro games, it’s the best way to enjoy them assuming you have the space. Gotta relive those memberberries somehow
lmao, holy crap, I actually know Kosta, he's a local dude here. Bought an RTS Wreck-Gar from him in a shady ass pool hall once lol.. I've told him for years, bro, you collect everything, it needs some order, but admittedly, not sure he has the space to display it right. You guys nailed a lot accurately though. Dude adores his kids.
Bobby I've seen shows of people assisting homeowners with building Bars, Man Caves etc etc. I would love if someone offered you your own show where you go in and help collectors build the perfect display areas. I would watch that faithfully!!!
How long ago was the built-in collection submitted? I know this guy. He is great. He got out of Transformers and switched to Macross. I have a lot of his collection and drawing of Menasor signed by none other than MR. Bobby Skullface that I got from him. Wonderful dad. Loves his kids so much!
dude needs the composite CRT for his old-school consoles and the legit scanline experience. No excuse for the tub of vaseline on the coffee table though! :D
Using an adapter to use old consoles on new TV's brings video lag which feels like your buttons take longer to work. It's especially important for games that still have a competitive scene like smash bros melee. Also some people prefer the look as the games from back then were designed for that image type and not the modern TVs.
My wife and I collect retro games, and the CRT is money for those old consoles. Especially true for 16 bit and older. They look terrible on newer LED and LCD TV's.
😂 forgot I had even sent in the pictures. Made a load of adjustments and changes in the past two years and have even cleaned out an old storage space as a dedicated nerd room. The two things that remain constant are the chaos and the most comfortable couch ever made. Would love to highlight the changes sometime!
