It appears Longaberger is back to making baskets. The daughters got control of the brand and you can find them at longaberger.com and I was wrong they are made of Maple. I have several available in my Etsy shop many are very vintage.
My Etsy shops can be found found here: www.etsy.com/s...

When my MIL died 12 years ago we inherited dozens of Longabergers. I liked them; I’ve always liked baskets, but didn’t really know what I was getting. In the past decade I’ve come to LOVE them. They’re attractive and useful. I think I have at least one in every room. Most of them you don’t see because I use them for organizing cabinets and closets. But where they’re visible they’re lovely too.I’ve even found them helpful in gift giving; once or twice a particularly nice one has made a lovely gift for the right person. In fact, I like them so much that just the other day I bought one because I found it at a great price and it was just the right size and shape to hold my double pointed knitting needles.

This cracked me up. If I had a dollar for every time someone asks me about selling their Longaberger, precious moments, Hummel, etc.

LOL, If I had a dollar for every dollar I spent on Longaberger ;) AND I inherited my MIL's Hummel collection, fortunately it's less than a dozen pcs.

Dave Longaberger told me personally that he felt his daughters were going to ruin his company. He felt that their college degrees were making his two college girls greedy. Dave started the company to help his hometown grow, and to help his community. Sadly, Dave was right, and it makes me so, so angry. I was a consultant for ten years if you ever have questions. *they’re all made with maple wood.

That is very interesting. I've seen where they are making baskets again, and selling them on QVC.

Actually trends changed. TAMMY did try to keep the company running by bringing in a partner and selling 51% of company. Let the other company take control was the down fall. The company were nothing more than corporate raiders. They did some pretty shady things and robbed the company of funds. They did to another company at the same time and transfered the funds offshore to the Cayman islands. There is a Federal Investigation into it. TAMMY and Rachel never got paid the money they were owed when they sold their 51% stake....only partial amount, So they had to sue. But everything was liquidated in the Bankruptcy court...so they will never see a dime probably. Dresden and co bought equipment, etc. So they are now working with Tammy & Rachel making the baskets again. She really tried keep company afloat, but the shady partner financed their purchase through their own company. So when they filed bankruptcy, they were the first to get paid back....which is why they wanted to run company to ground to force sell off to pay them. They even tried to get Tammy to put the little bit of money they had paid her back into the company...so they could pay themselves and not the suppliers. Do a Google search and read all the SEC filings and Federal court cases. TAMMY just trusted the wrong partner and should have never gave up 51%, but they were backed into a corner and had to do it yo stay afloat.

My mom recently passed away and we are appalled by the number of baskets she had in her collection. She literally had dozens of them she spent $1000’s. Now we are left trying to figure out what to do with them. 😔

I'd suggest ebay or etsy. I've had good luck selling them on etsy but you need to be patient. Research what each basket is called, they are all dated on the bottom. You might have some rare ones, so do the research. Anything over 20 years old can be sold on Etsy. Good Luck.

I've bought dozens of Longaberger baskets at thrift stores in the past 10 years. Paid anywhere from 99 cents to 10 bucks. All in VG to new condition. Have tried to sell some on ebay or craigslist but no interest. So, they'll just sit for now. I, too, find them useful for all kinds of things.

You can't beat their quality, I find them at garage sales sometimes. You are right, there is little to no interest right now. that won't stop me though.

...and as a basketmaker from 97 to 2007, thanks for helping myself and thousands of others earn a good honest living. Being employed at Longaberger as a young adult helped me get a start in life, new house, car etc.. I still have all the employee baskets that I have personally made and have bought some out and about that I enjoyed making. Mostly sentimental and partly a debt of gratitude.

@@1320passOh, my goodness! That is so cool! I wonder if, in my dozens of baskets, I have one you made. I still love and use mine. I think I always will. I think it is terrible when I see people paint them. Say, you don't know if there is a way to safely moisturize the baskets, do you? I recently bought a used Sewing basket w/stand and I think it got wet at some point. It feels dry and the wood, a little rough. Thanks.
