@@_alifeallmine_ yes! It’s a shame that they aren’t having anywhere near the success (on Mainstream Rock radio - they stopped having crossover, or “pop” singles success after the first 2 albums) they enjoyed during their first 10 years, because they still make great music!
I've seen a few interviews with Ed Roland, the lead singer and songwriter, and he's one of the most gracious and nice people I've seen interviewed. I love Collective Soul, too many good songs to pick a favorite.
collective soul had a lot of great hits in the 90s......very catchy songs...listen to SHINE then Gel,...then Smashing Young Men, December, Where the River Flows, .......then precious declaration,.... then the World I Know
Dude! The last vid I saw from you, I was under the impression you were done. Then, here you are with my all time fav Collective Soul tune. Yeah, Shine rocks, no doubt about it...but Heavy is da shiznit 😎
Collective Soul is the most genuine band out there. I had the pleasure of making a dream come true and meet my favorite band and they are the nicest guys in the world.
Love Collective Soul! They (Ed Roland) had a really good handle on writing simple catchy guitar based rock/pop songs. Very consistently good. Caught a good wave of popularity during the initial post grunge movement. I have moved on musically to heavier rock and metal since those days, but feel nostalgic and warmth to this band and its solid output. They were/are quite good.
Jeff Beck died today. I've asked for reactions to Jeff Beck songs but I haven't noticed you get to them anyway he was very unique guitarist no one sounds like
Glad you picked a live version because Collective Soul is one of those bands that kinda sounds better live, and that says a lot because their studio versions are already TOP NOTCH! I recommend you listen to Collective Soul's newer song, "Right As Rain", to hear how they're still rockin!
Love, love, love Collective Soul! One of my favorite bands! We saw them in concert with ZZ Top last July for my birthday. Best show I've EVER witnessed, and I spent my teens through the 70s, so I've seen a LOT of concerts. Collective Soul is probably in my top 3 best concerts I've ever been to! Would be great if you could react to one or all three of these. Easily 3 of their BEST: "Shine", "December", and "The World I Know" (links below). Thanks for this great reaction, Jamel! ✌💙✌ Shine - ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-_m0bI82Rz_k.html December - ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-6exsatE-DUk.html The World I Know - ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-n7TLTjqUyog.html
Jamel_AKA_Jamal, thanks for posting the three reaction requests from my wife Mindy. She's been a longtime fan of yours and has always wanted to submit requests. I hope you enjoyed the ones she chose. I love what you do as well. I appreciate your humility and kindness. You're a good person and we both think highly of you. I don't know if you will see this, but if you do I have two requests myself and if you ever get the chance check out Samantha Fish "Gone for Good" live at Telluride and then Joanna Connor Band "Walkin' Blues" live at Norwood, MA @ Carty BBQ. Thanks my friend!
I cannot believe I just found this reaction tonight. I've been following you since 2020 (during the pandemic) and I missed this! CS became my favorite band in 1995, I've seen them in concert 15 times. They are still my top two favorites along with Foo Fighters. They have so many good songs and putting out great music now! From this performance they also did a cover of Crazy Train that the crowd went nuts for!
3:28 "Hes not Heavy, He's my Brother" is my favorite Neil Diamond song. This song rocksm Great reaction. 4:01 lol Woodstock '99 despite all the criticism it gets was epic!
We’ve lost another iconic, legendary artist. On 1/11/23 - Guitar Master Jeff Beck past away. Jeff Beck was beyond a Master. A Guitar God that you have to hear to appreciate. Beck was the epitome of Making a Guitar Sing…no words needed. His career is a must read! If you choose to honor, I’m supplying a link of Jeff Beck and Rod Stewart & their iconic song “People Get Ready”. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-T43m6dcMk6U.html
This was before things got absolutely crazy at Woodstock 99. One of the first days of the festival. Good documentary on the disaster of that festival now on HBO.
Jeff Beck just passed away. You really should watch his DVD, Live @ Ronnie Scott's. Watch all of it. It's truly a masterpiece of a show and you'll be blown away. You won't want it to end! Trust me on this.
Woodstock 99 wasn't bad in terms of performances, there were actually some terrific performances. It was just badly managed and terrible conditions for the kids. Turned into chaos.
This is a great performance - they certainly proved they could perform live - but the studio version would sound better, simply because the sound is just naturally “dissipated” (for lack of a better word), being out in such a wide open area. The crowd noise also distracts, just a little, from the music. But it’s still a great vid. Good reaction, nonetheless!
Actually saw them at the Linn County Fair in Oregon about 10 years ago. The lead singer was very cool. Talked to the audience and invited some little kids onstage between songs. Then he told them they'd better get behind the amps b4 the next song cuz their ears could get damaged. He explained to the audience that he had kids. They sounded great too. 😁
Collective Soul is one of my favorite bands. I've seen them so many times in concert. Thank you for this video! Hopefully you can check out more of their songs. The World I Know, December, Shine...there's so many good ones!
These guys went to the same school as I did. I was in HS when they were in Junior High. I graduated HS in 1980. I had a feeling that they were going to make it to the big times. Even if we had no connection at all I would still have loved their music when it was released and played on the radio.💖
looks like a classic Rob Squad 0-for-3 day today...I've got a list of 100 better 90's bands...but only new reactors give a shit about unpaid suggestions so it's pointless...dude's still 'racist' against King's X anyway 4 fook sake 👍🤪🤭
This was such a great band back in the day. They were the closing act at the tech festival I went to in Birmingham, Alabama to watch Harry Mack for the second time. These guys are not good live, not anymore anyway.
I grew up on Zep, Sabbath and Rush. These guys continue to carry the torch. If you haven't seen them live, DO IT!!! Thanks Jamel, you should sample a few more, like "This" "Contagious" "Happiness" Not to mention "New Vibration" When Ed Roland walks on stage, the crowd stands and usually doesn't sit for the rest of the gig. 😎🎶
Collective Soul is still one of my favorite 90's bands to this day. Their debut album was really good and their follow-up, "Dosage" was really good as well. "Heavy" came from their 2nd album, as did "The World I Know" and a rarely-played song called "Dandy Life", which was on the soundtrack for the movie "The Skulls" and was sung by lead guitarist Ross Childress.
I admit I've only ever seen a little bit of Collective Soul live performances. The one I remember was with an orchestra, and was really good. But this is basically just like listening to the studio cut! I love this song, it's my favorite Collective Soul song, and I always wished it was about 2 minutes longer! Thanks for the reaction, Jamel!! P.S. Woodstock '99 was an unmitigated disaster but this was a terrific performance.
Wowz I can’t believe after all this time you finally play a band I like anything by them after 2000 is a must you just gotta play more there still going strong which is good for me as I’ve only known them for two years I’m just not old enough to grow up with their back catalogue but it’s all amazing
Love this band. Another band with a similar sound is I Mother Earth. They have a song called One More Astronaut. Also sorry on the stream yesterday I asked for a New Orleans is Sinking reaction but you have reacted to that, don't know why I couldn't find it before.
Collective Soul convinced me to stop being lazy and learn this song on the guitar. It's played in drop tuning so one day I finally tuned my guitar down to practice heavy. The goosebumps I got from hearing these powerful chords come through my amplifier made it all worth it.
Yay! Love this song! And u r so right. Ppl love to dish out probs to me as if I dont have my own. and id argue i have more than they do. but they just dish it out. worst is when they dont ask or seem to care what ur going thru… 😤
