I've had their CD for years, and it's on my ipod in the truck, and I still sing (very badly) to it when their songs come through the shuffling madness of the digital selection of songs. Their songs and music never get old to me. Thank you, Collective Soul!
I have a new found respect for this band, they are true staples in the music industry. The guitar playing and emotion In this performance is brilliant ! Can't say enough.
I'm blessed to have them perform live at WARQ Columbia South Carolina in circa 1994, while I was an air personality. I have loved Collective Soul from their first Gel.
NOT a 90s band. These guys are so underrated. Blows Mumford and all the rest out of the water for acoustic stuff and hangs with the big boys on the rock and roll too.
I was a fan through the Ross Childress and Joel Kosche years. Still can't listen to the Jesse Triplett stuff without it making me kind of sad and pissed at how they fired Joel.
I tell people every time I get the chance: "You remember Collective Soul? Guess what, they're still making music....and more importantly, they're still making GREAT MUSIC! As a matter of fact, they NEVER STOPPED MAKING GREAT MUSIC. I like to call them "The little band from Atlanta that could". Because so many of their "90's alternative" peers have either broken up, or worse, committed suicide. Eddie Vedder and Jerry Cantrell are really the only other high profile figures from that era who are still prolific at their craft. But Collective Soul never left. Ever.
I caught Collective Soul on their first tour and fondly remember their wall of guitar sound. To this day, the only band I've seen with three electric guitars going at the same time!
This first song really resonates with what's happening around the world! So relevant, amazing writing and always loved Ed's voice! Thses guys got it!God bless them and their families! Got the chance to see them love in Duluth,Minnesota in 2008? With Blues Traveler, and LIVE. Thanks for the music!🎶💕👏🙏🏼
This acoustic version of Observation of Thoughts is so good. Describes my struggle with faith perfectly. Collective Soul should make an unplugged album.
Ok Ed, I wrote that last comment after the first song. Then I heard you confirm it..."God Bless Collective Soul"....So excited to see you Saturday in St. Louis.
She said is .... one of my favorite songs, still single after my divorce since 1996. "Dosage" is an awesome totally ...a great heavy album. Of course its good!!! I said I wanted it played at my final funeral. Oh...trust me...
Nice job Ed. You are so underrated.Glad you can team up with Emerson from Tonic on your benefit. You and your band seem like really a great group of people.
They ended the show I went to with this first song, man talk about chicken skin! You NEED to see these guys live, they put on a great show, Eds charisma and his willingness to let the other guys shine, with their solos, you can tell they still love what they do and who they are.
I've been a fan of Collective Soul for 30 years. When Ed brags repeatedly about his live stuff having no overdubs I can't help but think of how they rely on such a massive amount of backing tracks while they play live that every member can stop playing and the sound hardly changes....
OK.. 1. I love everything about this.. and 2. The world is full of billions of humans, but seeing Ed, instantly makes me think of Steve Guttenberg (Audiophiliac).. Crazy how people can share traits!
Muy buena banda realmente. Es conocida mundialmente pero sin el éxito que realmente debería haber tenido. Excelentes clásicos que perduran en el tiempo. Ojalá los pueda ver en vivo en algún momento no tan lejano
I've listened to CS since their first album, they've been a part of my life musically for the last 25 years...not only for their talent but also because they were different from most rock bands...CS had "clean" music lyrically with references of faith and God...why now Ed has put profanity into his writing I do not understand...love you guys and praying for you.
defstar why do you have to throw the religious stuff into this? I have loved this band since the 1st album. Now you're just making it weird. All bands progress....just let it happen. When we get old, we get pissed and don't give a shit
I have to agree with defstar...I love CLEAN music...and the "Lyrics" that CS since I was 23 helped mold me into the GOOD person I am TODAY! Im kinda unsure of the new rebel CS? Yes TOTAL TALENT there, I just have a hard time "digesting" the new language. Pretty much 99% of the bands OUT There ARE Profane, what sets CS apart now? I liked the UNIQUE CS take on WILD FUN ROCK & slow meaningful Ballads with NO PROFANITY
defstar Agreed and previewing the new songs, there is a pattern developing with profanity. I think Ed is trying too hard to make a "hit" album and unfortunately being a little more Edgy with the lyrics will probably achieve that. Bummer because this would be a great song with using God's name in vain.
Ed Roland is a bit of an enigma. He frequently mentions he's the son of a preacher and was raised in a home of faith, he references spirituality often in both his interviews and in his lyrics.....yet insists on dropping the F bomb both on stage and in interviews.
Brian, are you saying their live in Morocco record was their greatest record? I have to totally disagree with you if you do...Dosage will always be their greatest moment. I was their biggest fan in the 90's, but ever since their music doesn't even come close.
