After last year and Cronin harping to the AD and the school that if they want to win, they will have to utilize NIL money and recognize it's no longer about who you recruit, it's who you can attract with NIL money. Basically throw the difficult admission process out the window if you want to win. Looks like having a down year worked wonders for Mick's getting his agenda approved.
Preseason rankings are like a**holes, everybody has one and there is no telling what will come out of it in a few months. They mean nothing outside of making sure you have baby wipes.
Off topic but I want to share.... Georgetown from UK transfer Jordan Burks will be an All-american and be a lottery pick next year. The guy outscored Dillingham at OTE. He is a beast....watch.
Hey Aaron, I think Reed Shep had the best 3-point percentage last year, not Brea. But I could be wrong about that. I think 52 is still greater than 50 but it's been awhile since I had a math class.
Exactly right. I don't understand the love fest that Alabama is getting. I'm not saying they can't be dominate but a lot of that perception is based off a Final 4 run that was Charmin extra soft due to upsets and an early weak draw.
It's all about momentum and continuity. They kept 4 starters/rotation players, and one of tne best coaches in the country. Also, they added one of the best freshman in the country and Cliff Omoruyi, one of the best bigs in the country. They really are that good.
@@KingofDiamonds85same thing happened last year with UNC. That team that went to the final four the year before. About 75-80% of guys transfer each year. You just don't know how team's will mesh. Men's college basketball is very difficult to predict now. You have so many more upperclassmen with NIL. This is more difficult to gauge than years passed. UK has maybe the most experience and most points scored coming in. I think UK is ranked preseason too low because they will be a Sweet Sixteen team with opportunity to crash the final four.
@@terrencelspain6681 They might be, it's early and that's the first action any of us have seen. Both teams looked good for an early exhibition. But just based on that tiny sample, there wasn't much difference between them and what 20-30 other teams are going to look like.
@@terrencelspain6681 If I get to see them, I probably will say that. Most years, there are 2-3 teams that have The Look, some years none do. Then there might be 8 to 30 teams that you're just splitting hairs, especially since the exhibition games just started. And are we talking about how they look NOW vs. March? So I don't get my panties in a wad over right now. What I'm looking for is the very teams that are likely to be a step above everyone else.
Uk at #4 but the entire sec is overrated. Like last year. And Arkansas at 2 nah. Unless wagner and davis can score 35 a game? Where they gonna get scoring from. And we know cal dont care about defense!
Arkansas is essentially Kentucky from last year minus the 2 best players. I don’t think many understand that. They did add David from the portal but still, he’s their only go to scorer on the team and Calipari will never allow him to take all the time away from Wagner. Will absolutely not happen. I think Davis will end up at about 22 minutes per game which won’t be enough scoring on the floor. Calipari doesn’t change, playing certain players will come ahead of the team, their draft development will come before the team, and that is just a fact. Arkansas will understand this by the end of the year. I get they’re a smaller program and will take what they get but cal will not adjust and he will not put winning first. In this league that’s the end before it starts. And Arkansas. Don’t question him at all. He thinks you’re just lucky he’s there. You go to war with him and he’ll tank you.
Alabama shouldve beat uconn except nate oats is one dimensional on defense. If they cant guard you straight up their defense falls apart. And it wasnt just they didnt have rim protection. They had alot of problems on defense. Fortunately they could knock down some threes and score alot. You dont win championships without a good defensive scheme and versatility.
Nate oats is calipari made over. Except they shoot a bunch of threes. And what i mean by that is length athletic score but no defensive scheme. It allows teams the shouldnt beat them actually beat them
@@KingofDiamonds85 yeah right calipari isn't even a top coach anymore. Oaklands coach said it best. They're one dimensional defensively. We couldn't have got a better draw. Known as a recruiter yet hasn't landed a top post player in 7 years??
No way. Calipari doesn’t coach well enough for that and he’s underachieved every time he’s had a top ranking going on 6 years. Arkansas is going to lose a lot, they’re essentially Kentucky last year minus the 2 best players. They have 1 go to scorer in the floor who can create and shoot. But he will not play over guys like Wagner in big minutes. Calipari’s team also has many defensive liabilities. Big Z for one can’t guard a light post. It’s going to be a good team much like what we’ve seen from Kentucky the past 5 years, but he’ll start having more and more trouble recruiting because he’s not at a blue blood and also because he’s gotten worse and worse. He’s also had quite a few highly touted players come through that bombed in the draft. This isn’t 2012 Calipari Arkansas will lose around 10-13 games and be a first or second round exit most likely.
Ask Alabama after the scrimmage with Wake Forest. I beleive the Deacons will win the ACC. No, iam a Va. TECH FAN . THIS GUY DOES NOT EVEN HAVE THEM IN TOP 25..Wake beat Alabama by 10 in the scrimmage. So that tells me this guy does not do his homework.
