i keep it very real, raw, and vulnerable here, and I hope it helps anybody out there who may be going through the college application process. things don't always go as planned but the universe has a funny way of working things out-trust in the process!! and it's all about perspective ❤️
if you made it to the end, you'll see i included my mom's reaction to my ED. i decided to record it because i honestly had no idea how she would react, and watching it now i'm 🥺 also i hope i made my chinese teacher proud with my translations lmao
i'll end here by just saying again how grateful i am for everything. i'm so excited for the next four years and i can't wait to document it all (good and bad), so stick around if you want to come with me on this journey! i'm sure i'll be doing some crazy things lol. ok bye now, and stay safe amidst all the covid stuff!!

I never comment on RU-vid videos but this is by far the best college reaction video I've seen, I absolutely loved how real this was and it made me feel so much better about the coming months. Not to mention, your moms speech was amazing and I will definitely be coming back to listen to it when I get rejections. (Also USC is my top choice so seeing you get accepted made me so happy, congratulations on everything) :)

I never comment on YT videos but I had to comment after listening to your beautiful mother give you some amazing advice. Your heart was hurting and don't believe hers wasn't either. It is not easy for a parent to see their child cry or hurt. She was crushed for you. But she gave you the truth. Treasure her. You will be great wherever you decide. With a family like that behind, you can't lose.

You're exactly right when you say my heart was hurting-I got a little teary-eyed reading your comment, it put me in my mother's shoes. After I told her about my rejection, I thought she was more or less unaffected, but you made me realize that she must have felt my pain as well. Thank you so much, it truly means a lot ❤️

I've watched so many of these vids and this one is by far my favorite. You were super raw and encouraging throughout the entire process. Congrats on your amazing acceptances! When I applied to college, I didn’t get into any Ivy reaches and went to my much lower ranked safety school. I was so devastated and thought it would really hold me back. Instead, I got great grades, did a lot of activities and research, made a lot of great friends, and now I’m a couple months away from graduating from a Top 20 medical school. A lot of my classmates are working at companies like Google and Microsoft and doing very well. Where you go to college does not necessarily define your life. I hope you had a fantastic 1st semester at your college and are making the best of your time and college to set you up for success later in life. Channel the frustration of your failures into working towards success and the results WILL come.

completely agree - this entire process has so much subjectivity and randomness built into it that there are always surprises (both good and bad!) throughout. If things don't work out for your undergrad years, there's nothing wrong with that! you may very well find yourself in exactly the job / career / field you want to be after college (or even find yourself at your dream school for grad school!!)

MY MOM GAVE ME THE SAME EXACT TALK WHEN I GOT REJECTED FROM USC HAHA. Literally the whole “人生道路有很多条” thing haha. I'm headed to NYU this fall so I guess she was right. Good luck girl!! Go live it up in Cali:)

Making a first time comment on RU-vid here too. I absolutely love your mom and love that you took in what she was saying despite your disappointment. With your attitude, work ethic and strong support system, I imagine whatever road you're on it will indeed lead to Rome. Starting college in isolation must have been rough. I applaud you and your peers for navigating a truly horrendous time. My daughter will be applying to college in a few years. I may quote your mom when the time comes, because I do believe these bumps in the roads and course corrections make for the most rewarding and fulfilling journeys.

that's normal! it's good to be prepared, but personally I wouldn't worry about it too much as of now, you have time and your opinions/goals will probably change by junior/senior year anyway :)
