I dont mean to be so off topic but does anyone know of a trick to get back into an instagram account..? I was dumb forgot the password. I appreciate any help you can give me!
@Bruce Sterling i really appreciate your reply. I got to the site through google and I'm waiting for the hacking stuff atm. Takes quite some time so I will reply here later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
That is my dream school right now! I am preparing my pre-screens by chance what pieces did you do for pre-screens and auditions just to give me an idea?
Roosevelt is like my dream school right now, can you offer any advice or recommendations? Do you like it there? If you don't mind I would also like your opinion on my pre-screen song choices? I got lost in your arms from Annie get your gun and A trip to the library from she loves me. Thanks so much!
thank you for addressing how competitive theater schools are!! sooo many people apply to programs and theres so many factors like what types theyre looking for and what level of talent theyre looking for and if you fit with the rest of the class theyre accepting. im an acting major and my year 800 people auditioned and only 15 of us were accepted and 1200 people auditioned for my schools musical theater program and only 18 of them got accepted
OKAY BUT THE FACT THAT YOU PASSED ALL THOSE PRESCREENS IS INCREDIBLE!!!!! i’m going through this process rn and i’ve only heard back from four schools for prescreens. i didn’t pass pace or emerson prescreens so that’s fun. but i did pass millikin and cap21!! thank you for posting this video because hearing a lot of rejections can be so disheartening. it’s cool to know that you can still go somewhere amazing even when you get rejected so much!
Thank you for bringing to light how difficult this process is. I am blessed to be going to Coastal Carolina for Acting with an ~8.5% acceptance rate. Not many know how truly difficult this entire process is.
Not only is it insanely sweet to see your reactions when you accepted into the programs, but you're showing a incredibly healthy example of how to take rejection. It can be crushing if you dwell on it but you move on to the next thing, exactly the way to deal with it. Congratulations and hope you are enjoying the MT College experience!!! Also 1:40 I felt that
i’m in my schools drama club, so i know its really hard to get in for musical theatre because all of my friends are auditioning, and i give you so much props for auditioning, and for having options!!
SUCH an important video! Brava to you for sharing such a personal and emotional journey for other young artists to connect to! Clearly, you are someone who will thrive no matter where you are. Can't teach that: that's authentically YOU! So many people do not understand the competitive and preparatory adventures of applying for musical theatre programs: thank you for highlighting that! Wishing you powerful success as you gather more ingredients to fulfill your dreams!
First, you are adorable! Second, thank you for putting this out there. My daughter is currently going through the BFA MT audition process. It's brutal, especially for a parent! I already shared this with another MT mom whose daughter is also auditioning! Wishing you all the best!
I'm a Danish college student but I love these videos! I haven't seen one regarding musical theater before - very interesting! Thank you for sharing this with us and congratz on your acceptances!
Thank you so much for posting your video. It really helps those BFA applicants to understand that there are more rejections and acceptances. Congratulations!! See you on Broadway!
I know this isn’t a super recent video and you already chose your school, but for anyone contemplating Millikin for musical theatre: DON’T. I went there for MT and it was absolutely awful. The theatre professors are absolutely horrible, I was told by a professor who only had me in one class that I “have no business being a performer.” Unless you are cast in a main stage production early on, the faculty sees you as useless and treats you terribly. This is not just an isolated incident, many students from before my time and after my time have had the same issues (I went there in 2013 and left in 2016). On top of that, the musical theatre program does not place enough emphasis on voice and dance. It does not help create well-rounded performers, which is why they don’t have many successful alumni. The alumni that become successful went into the program already basically trained. I’m not trying to be a downer, but everyone I went to school with wishes we didn’t go there. I just want to make sure other kids don’t make the same mistake we did. Anyway! Congrats on getting into and going to Roosevelt! That was my dream school but it was very pricey.
love the deer valley shirt (and ontario bowl sign hehe) but you should be so proud of yourself, considering how much work goes into the musical theater process and how selective it is! i hope you have an amazing time next year no matter where u choose!
This was so nice to see! I'm also a senior this year who went through the same exact process (though obviously our schools were different!). Did you go to Unifieds? That many auditions is insane! Congrats on your decisions!
@@rebeccamactaggart5410 Those few months must have been so stressful but lots of fun. I'm going to the University at Buffalo! They're a hidden gem school imo, I'm going for the BFA in Musical Theater
Well specifically right now, it's a little bit cheaper because of covid. So, you have to do virtual auditions. I haven't gone to a physical audition yet, but I've auditioned for over 20 schools.
OMGoodness. I didn’t realise your application process🇺🇸. Over in the UK you can only select 5 unis on your centralised application process. There are private performing arts schools & colleges across the country which you have to apply directly which is the favoured option for MT training.
I love this video!!! I wanna major in musical theater as well (: How did you figure out the right schools to apply for because for me its been hard finding the right ones that have good musical theater programs?
Lauren Bodnar I just did a lot of research online, and also had an MT coach work with me and she recommended places! For the most part I just applied to as many schools as I could find that seemed like they would be a good fit for me.
Hey guys as we’re getting to that time again just a reminder that your school doesn’t define you and that I’m proud of you just the same no matter if you’re going to community college or Harvard you rock and you’re gonna do great things
You are amazing! U just made me feel better. 2 days ago my mom finally gave me a chance to pursue my art. I already applied to 9 school and got into 5 or 6 waiting for the rest until march I guess. I'm a good student and can study anything but out of all I chose art and now I have to start my application all over again because the 9 schools I applied to were all for nursing. I have no idea how to start for my audition I basically dnt have no experience but u have given me hope that even tho I dnt get in I should keep trying. Thank you so much. I needed this.
i can’t afford to go to college for mt outside of canada, and canada only has like, 3 mt programs and they’re all on toronto😭😭😭the fear is real. we have a lot of drama programs but musical theatre is a real rarity here
Hey I am watching this as a 17 year old kid, just trying to get into bfa acting programs. I have only received one decision back and it was a rejection from Otterbein. Unfortunately rejection is tough but it is something that you have to take as a lesson as an actor. I have 5 more decisions to hear from, I got passed the FSU pre-screen and I am really excited because I bet there are probably many more girls applying then guys so hopefully that will give me an advantage lol.
Watching this from england and icl its very similar over here for drama schools except that there are 3 rounds of auditions and its STRESSFUL XD. Im in the middle of my audition season rn and its tufffffff
For anyone in the comments!! I’ve been looking for college decisions for majors like theatre and musical theatre. And this is the only recent one I found , if you guys find anything else PLEASE send me the link
what were you academic stats and theater experience to apply with? or audition material. i'll most likely be applying to bfa musical theater programs next year and i'd love to know what went into your apps!
I had a 3.72 GPA and i started theater is 7th grade! Most schools care more about how you perform at the audition than past experience so its not a big deal to have a smaller resume. I sang fly into the future and Mira for most auditions, but always brought my book with a bunch of extra songs to each audition.
Maya Elyse they were both very average, and the majority of schools I applied to gave me academic scholarships!, my gpa was a 3.72 and my sat was a 1210
Angela Hurley some schools you get an academic decision as well as an artistic decision, and some combine it, but for the most part you do have to get accepted academically, from most people I’ve talked to getting in academics to most school ( with a few exceptions like NYU and Michigan) was not an issue!
