Hey Hannah, my name is Jesus I’ve been watching your videos recently because I got admitted to Pepperdine for this fall through the Posse Foundation which is a full tuition merit based scholarship. Fortunately that’s my miracle Haha! Since you really listen to your subscriber’s comments, I was wondering what would you recommend a Freshman at Pepperdine to do or expect because I feel like it would help with the transition from high school to college. The school I wanna go to is 70k and my family is in that spot where I’m not in need enough for good financial aid but in no way can we actually afford college

That’s when it’s up to you. Try to get A’s and B’s then you won’t have to worry plus they’re loans grants and scholarships so I don’t believe that

Hey Hannah! I watched your videos on college so far and they are so helpful, especially the de-stressing segments. I’m actually a junior in high school right now and I have no idea what I want to do with my life. I’m having trouble on deciding a career path and what colleges to go to. I’m also getting really stressed because everyone seems to have a thought of what they want to do and it makes me feel scared. All I know so far is that I want to make a lot of money, love what I do, have great working hours, and have fun. I’ve tried noting my qualities and all I’ve noted is that I connected with people well. Based on that thought, my friends have told me that I should be a therapist, social worker, or psychiatrist and although those careers are great, I’m not sure what’s for me. Do you have any advice?How did you know what you wanted to do? Please help me out >~

Jen Cruz this made my DAY omg Jen!! Ok junior year can be so confusing I understand the struggle 😫 but it’s so amazing that you have ambition to find a specific career to be passionate about, that’s already passion right there and it’s gonna get you places!! I have friends who are switching majors in college rn bc it’s hard to find exactly what to do as we’re so young. Thank you for this comment bc I will make a video on this, but I’m so glad my destressing pep talks are actually helping someone HAHA and for now my advice is to keep on that trajectory of noting what you’re good at and what subjects you like at school, and looking into careers like that! I would look up “list of careers” too bc sometimes I just needed a coherent list of ideas LOL 💗 lots of love

i think you'll receive a lot of aid. i think it also depends on how many dependents your parents /guardians have, as well on other factors. good luck!! you got this

Defs less but the amount of loans you need depends on your income and other factors. You might be eligible for grants and scholarships

I just got in yesterday and Pepperdine’s like my dream school but the price, whew! I’m nervous because I really wanted to graduate without debt.

Congratulations girl!! I know, a big goal of mine coming into school was also to graduate with minimal debt. If Pepp is able to offer you more financial aid/scholarships then go for it but honestly if there's another option that requires less money then you might wanna go for that! And even taking a gap year to make/save more money could work too. I believe in you and that everything will be okay

Sabrina Ho I had a 3.8 overall GPA for high school (freshman year and senior year I had the best grades, the other years weren’t as good lol) and a 1220 SAT, I was also involved in dance company and orchestra at school. To be honest if I was you I’d try to aim for a higher SAT, I was waitlisted for Pepperdine at first but a spot opened up and so I was admitted. I think if you get a 1300 SAT and 3.5 GPA you should be fine. Also I took honors and AP English classes throughout high school which helped me write a decent essay for the application. I took 5 AP classes in total (2 last year, 3 this year and past last years exams). This is just my experience and everyone’s is different, I’m not the brightest student and didn’t get the highest SAT, I’m not valedictorian, and I’m sure you’ll get into some great colleges. good luck in all your endeavors💕 (also I didn’t get like a full ride scholarship, but it was a partial one that’ll help)

I’m going to Pepperdine for grad school. I managed to escape from undergrad with no student loans. Masters programs are notorious for being expensive and a lot of the aid just stops after undergrad. I won’t get my pell grant or cal grant anymore. Desperately trying to make it work!

Oh no!! The pell grant was really helpful to me last year. Girll I'm sorry ugh yeah grad school programs are crazy expensive. Trust that it will all work out though! You got this

Kayris Courtenay There were a few scholarships that I got that were specific to the school of education. I also plan on applying for outside scholarships! Good luck!!! ☺️

I don’t understand this one thing. So on financial aid packages books and other expenses are included. But don’t you have to still have to buy books out of your own pocket anyway? So why is it on my tuition? And is there a way I can negotiate with the Pepperdine financial aid office to get that off my tuition?

I'm not too clear on this, you can call/email the Pepperdine financial aid office about this but yeah books are included in the cost of other expenses. If financial aid gives you a financial package for "books" or other expenses then that's basically just paying for your books- you might pay out of your own pocket first but you'd basically be reimbursed by the financial aid package

Melany Anguilar yes i have, but personally for my classes the textbooks are never that expensive though. I know it varies for different fields and classes though!
