I like both Wilson and Rucker but this sucks. Big and Rich and Cowboy Troy gave it grit and toughness and hardness just like football is supposed to be. It's their song and no one does it better. ESPN and Disney have to bring their politics into EVERYTHING. Wilson and Rucker should have turned this down. Speaks to THEIR politics that they didn't.

@@caza728 I've rethought my position on the song and it's network usage since a year ago. It seems that the song has been around for more than 10 years. Big and Rich had their run performing it. They felt their time had passed. The network keeps using the song, so - might as well get new performers and a new arrangement. I'm backing off my political comment. I guess politics had nothing to do with the performer change.

@@caza728 In the time between last year and now I've rethought my position on this. Big & Rich performed the song for how long ..... maybe 10+ years? I didn't realize that when I first posted here. Now my thoughts are more along the lines of : Big & Rich had their run performing the song. It's just the nature of video production to want to put something modern and updated into whatever ongoing project lies around. For this intro, that update includes a performer change. I accept that now.

Look if you wanted to change the song then fine. I grew up watching gameday but now see big noon as superior because let's be honest they understand who they are catering to. They also don't abuse old people. Big and rich was the one thing you had left to get me to tune in for an hour before 10 a.m.

This version is absolutely horrible. My son and I used to look forward to hearing the Big & Rich version to get our Saturday morning going, and it used to put me into a great mood, getting me fired up for Game Day. Now, I mute the TV when this lame version comes on because it makes me want to throw up and go back to sleep.

This is all about politics. ESPN could have lined it up : just Lainey and Cad 3 doing the verses, and maybe bring back Cowboy Troy or some other rapper for the bridge. But, they didn't. They went with a 100% political pick, SJW Rucker, who has no business being in this song. Yes, this is ESPN going woke. They are TELLING YOU that they are cancelling the conservative performers, by bringing in the SJW performer. Edit : I will admit, the intensity of the song is still high - definitely lost the country swag, though - in place of a "clean, corporate" sound.

i will also admit, it's possible that Big & Rich were okay with the performer switch - they did say they were in a short response, but, bringing in Rucker is a very "woke" move. I like Rucker as a performer, most people like him, but he definitely emerged as an outspoken SJW around 2020.

Some advice for CFB and ESPN... It's not just the words, it's the spirit, getting with the times, the intensity and cadence of Big and Rich that made it special.... This doesn't put as much yin in my yang as past renditions. 2011 clears all others in my opinion.
