Depending on how much room is left between the trash can and the top of the cabinet opening you can just go buy a cheap normal sized trash can at Walmart or target to put in the place of the odd sized one. It’s usually cheaper and easier to find trash bags and holds more trash this way.

Whenever I moved into a new place when I was little I had to sleep on the floor, I didn't have the luxury of going to a hotel. I'm not judging I'm just reminding that just because the situation isn't ideal doesn't mean you can't get through it!
