I’m going to attend UT in the fall and I am also majoring in civil engineering! Any tips for scheduling or what is your favorite and least favorite thing about the major?
I'm a current freshman at UT (psychology and linguistics tho, not civil engineering), and as far as scheduling goes, I'd recommend NOT taking back-to-back classes if you can help it. Even online back-to-back classes can be tiring, but in person back-to-backs can be straight EXHAUSTING bc ur having to walk super quickly from one class to the next. You don't have time to talk to the professor after class and you don't have time to decompress from the concentration a class requires. If you can avoid it, do. I also recommend figuring out when you work best! If you work best in the morning, you might want to have class in the morning so you can pay attention. OR, alternatively, if you work best in the morning, you might want to leave your mornings open for doing homework. Just experiment this summer with times of day to figure out what works best for you! And don't believe people who say NOBODY can handle 8/9 AMs. Sure, a lot of people don't like them, but that doesn't necessarily mean you will, too. Just focus on yourself!
I'm going to attend UT as an aerospace engineering major next fall! I was wondering if there are classes where all engineering majors are mingled together?
