One day I realised I sucked at relationships. I mean I always kind of knew, but one particular day I thought ‘what are you doing???’. You see the thing with me is that I am, or was, terrified of love. To me it looked painful and I did everything to distance myself from it. But I also hated feeling alone… So over the years I found myself being with people, just to be with them. A couple of times I just put up with being treated like crap because to me, it was better than being alone. Thats why the first verse of Collide was written. It was a way of me saying ‘Im not doing this any more’. I wanted something real and I knew it was out there somewhere.
Thats when David came along.
You know when people talk about love and say ‘it happens when you least expect it?’ well I felt like I’d just walked into the road and got hit by a bus. Hence the name Collide. He came out of NO WHERE and it was terrifying. Amazing, but terrifying. It was then that I realised everything I’d experienced before happened so that when I met the right person, I knew.
And thats the story of Collide.
