Mandeep Ji, thank you for highlighting this issue. I have 5th Gen City V-CVT with ADAS and I have faced a very scary situation with this CMBS system. There was an Activa that came in front of the car from a left intersecting road around ~50 meters ahead of me when I was doing ~50 kmph. The CMBS detected this immediately and put the car to dead stop within 2 seconds. There was a Creta following me which due to present of mind steered away in nick of time and saved a major rear ending. Honestly, there was no need of braking because the Activa didn't came directly in the path and there was still some clearance. I highlighted this issue to Honda today during my second service to at least provide a permanent disable of this feature via an OTA update, but they said they're helpless because in India Honda has complied to the government norms to auto enable this feature each time the car starts. The other features like adaptive cruise control, lane departure etc. are a boon on highway, too good to use. I use them every time I'm on highway and the driving becomes very stress free. If only the CMBS can be permanently disabled, this car would be one of the best out there today.
You can switch off road departure mitigation system permanently and it is helpful in bumper to bumper traffic. Your car will not apply brake suddenly if someone is around the corner. It will apply brake only when some someone is just in front of your car.
Also happened with me twice and caught me off guard. Honda has manual switch for CMBS on/off in city eHev, but in Elevate , it is removed due to cost cutting.
Thank you for your lovely insights Paaji. It is really not practical to keep turning off the CMBS everytime you start the engine. Yaar apne ko itni atchhi gaadi chalane ka mazaa lena hai naki baar baar CMBS ko off karna. It may pose risks if we forget to turn the CMBS off but hopefully Honda should be able to do something about this with a software upgrade soon. Let's hope for the best friends!
The car is very good,Average is very good, special. Value for money. But yes, this is the colleges breaking system. This problem has come with me. But I wouldn't call it a big problem. I think Honda company's solution will come out soon. But you will not regret after purchasing this car…….
मेरे साथ हादसा हो गया इस सिस्टम की वजह से इसमें अचानक ब्रेक लग गया और पीछे आ रहा कार वाला डर गया फिर हम दोनों में मारपीट भी हुआ पुलिस वाले से मैंने बताया कि ऑटोमेटिक ब्रेक लगा है पर वो माना ही नही की ऐसा हो सकता है
