Saw a late model Chevrolet p/u today with rusted out rear fender wells. My 04 Dodge Ram diesel that I sold had rust in many places. Like my Ford F150 And wont have to worry about It rusting.

What hit it? A smart car or tractor trailer? Not sure how I feel about all these modern materials. I want mine build like an army tank. I'll pay a little more for gas to have a solid impact zone on my truck so they will know they hit something. Just my view. I like a metal box around me.

First thought don't buy a Ford made from aluminum. I work in the industry.

What is the thickness of the bedside panel?

I do like Ford pickups but that small repair on a steel body would be pulled out and som body filler and you would be all set. Replacing a bed side for that small repair is crazy. Not sure I would go with a new Ford.

I wish I would have found a shop like this close to me. Someone damaged my Ford truck and after my insurance's auto body shop replaced and repainted a fender and the hood I started having paint chip off the edges about a month later. Underneath I could see very shiny black paint/primer and after researching it looks like it came from Ford primed in black and the shop should have scuffed it with a gray pad before painting. I brought it to the shop and they told me that it doesn't come primed at all from Ford and that it comes bare and that they had to prime it and put on some kind of adhesion promoter. I think they are lying to me and that it came primed/ecoated and they didn't sand it and just painted it. Are they gaslighting me? They are claiming the paint damage is my fault. Thank you!
