Well from what I know they may have added extra buoyancy so that the ship rides higher in the water so that it doesn’t take on water or they might have pumps on the pumps all the water out that comes in but I doubt that because that’s a lot of water and I don’t think the pumps can pump out that much water by the time She got to sturgeon Bay
