The health benefits and uses of colloidal silver for poultry. What is colloidal silver, how does it work, and why you should keep some on hand for treating chickens.
Colloidal Silver is very easy and cheap to make at home. You can buy a good silver generator for around $130. Then all you need is distilled water. You will literally be making a gallon for around $1.
I only use dry sand in my chicken runs, it's important to have sand for them to dust bathe. For ease of cleaning, I just remove poops with a cat litter scoop. It stays pretty clean.
Hi Sarah. I hope you are doing well. Thank you for all the great information you provide to help viewers. My small flock of chickens (was 4, now 2 silkies) has been exposed to mycoplasma confirmed by state lab. I don’t know what I should be doing about the mycoplasma to prevent flare ups. Also, I feel like my silkies would do better if they had 1 or 2 more hen friends, but I hesitate to get more because of the mycoplasma. I know you aren’t a vet, but what have you done to protect your chickens who have been exposed to mycoplasma? Do You treat prophylactically with Denagard and colloidal silver? I just don’t want to lose another pet, at least not for a while if I don’t have to. I would be grateful if you could share some of your experience regarding mycoplasma. Many thanks.
I use the denagard for mycoplasma. It is nice that it has a preventative dose, so you can use it in the spring and the fall, when the mycoplasma tends to reoccur. I also do rooster booster vitamins and probiotics twice a week year round to keep them healthy.
Hi Sarah, love your informative videos! I’m new to chickens and not on Facebook. Violet, one of our year old chicks is acting very lethargic. She is still eating and drinking some. Is there a way to contact you through an email possibly?
