If it wasn't for blockage in my intestine i would've never of known I had colon cancer. My stomach area felt like it was going to literally explode. They said in surgery that my belly hissed loud like a Ballon when they cut me open. Now 5 months later I'm on chemo and staying positive trying to beat this thing! God bless

I was 33 when I was diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer in October of 2020. Lucky for me a tumor in my left intestine caused a blockage, abdominal pain, nausea and vomiting, because otherwise I probably would never have gone to the ER and had it checked out. I briefly beat it for about 8 months in 2021, but now I'm doing my second set of treatments after my initial 12 rounds. Thankfully I'm a strong person physically, mentally, and emotionally and I have one hell of a support system behind me cheering me on and offering whatever help I may need. Stay Strong and Keep Fighting 🥊😁🥊.

I'm 48 and i was told last year i had colon cancer after my first ever colonoscopy, they found a large tumour growing and took biopsies then i was taken to a room after recovery and told i had cancer, fast forward 1 year and 7 colonoscopies, ct scan and it turned out it was a lipoma. Had a final procedure called an endoloop which basically is like a lasso to cut off the blood supply to the lipoma so it falls off and gets passed naturally. what a rollercoaster of a year

I am 52 years old and since the age of 50 I have always asked to have a stool occult blood test done at my annual checkup because I know it is a possible worrying sign. This year the test came back positive and I immediately decided to have a colonoscopy. They removed 3 polyps, fortunately in time before they developed as malignant. So my advice from this experience is, from the age of 50, always do the stool occult blood test at least once a year, it's the best way to prevent this.

I had zero symptoms. Indeed, I passed my physical the month before I discovered during my first colonoscopy that I had a malignant tumor, Stage 3A cancer. The night before, I'd bought airline tickets to fly to Chuuk to go diving on the WWII wrecks in the Lagoon. My first reaction on learning I had cancer was to ask the doc if I could still go to Chuuk. :). He said, yes, after I finished chemo. I was operated on in August. Started chemo shortly thereafter. Finished eight months later. Ten months after the operation, I was scuba diving on the wrecks in Chuuk Lagoon. The morale of my story is that you may or MAY NOT have symptoms. So, get your butt scope. It might save your life. It certainly saved mine.

Thankyou for this. I lost my mother to colon cancer in 1993. My uncle died of it and IN 1968. His son had a hemicolectomy due to it, and his son had polyps at 27 yrs. I have had colonoscopies since my mother died when I was 43. I have had polyps removed on three occasions. I am now 70 and and feel fit and healthy. I have these procedures every 3-5 yrs. They have saved my life. My daughter, now 43 had her first procedure recently and had a large polyp removed. ThIs gene is definitely passed on in our family and we are lucky to be living in the age of modern medicine. Don't ignore any warnings.
@ShoshiPlatypus
@ShoshiPlatypus 2 года назад
What a terrible and tragic family history! My heart goes out to you. But very well done, keeping such a close eye on your own health and having regular colonoscopies. I hope and pray you continue to be well. I don’t know where you are, but here in the UK we have colon cancer screening from age 60, and it makes me very angry indeed when people say they just throw the kit away! How stupid is that? It’s so easy just smearing a bit of poo onto the kit and posting it back, and it can save your life! This is how my ulcerative colitis was discovered, and my subsequent colon cancer may have been missed had I not had that diagnosis when I did. I was very cross with my husband during my colon cancer year (2015) - he started complaining of an altered bowel habit and refused to go to the doctor “until they’ve got you sorted out” he said! I told him he was crazy! He did go eventually, and had a colonoscopy and was diagnosed with diverticular disease. It could have been a lot worse, and he of all people should have known how important it is not to ignore any change in bowel habit or other symptoms. Your warning is a timely one and I hope a lot of people read it! I do hope your daughter will be OK.
@ShoshiPlatypus
@ShoshiPlatypus 2 года назад
@S L So glad you got off so lightly with your colon cancer! The kits are easy peasy to use and really no trouble, and the cost of not using them can be your life. I really don’t understand some people… Unfortunately my cancer was stage 3 so I needed 6 months of chemo (horrible) and I now have an ileostomy and no colon, but this is great because it completely dealt with my ulcerative colitis and my life has improved beyond recognition. I look on my cancer as a blessing in disguise! It was the test kit that enabled them to diagnose the UC in the first place (misdiagnosed for many years as IBS) and then I was put on high watch list for someone more at risk of developing colon cancer. It was because of this that my extremely aggressive and fast growing tumour (under 18 months) was found in time to save my life. How are you doing, Down Under in Australia these days? You are very much in our thoughts and prayers here in the UK as things look to be very tough indeed.
@ShoshiPlatypus
@ShoshiPlatypus 2 года назад
@S L Thanks for a great reply, SL! Reading other people’s comments on here, I think I’ve come through pretty lightly. Compared with my colon cancer in 2015 (and subsequent operations and post-op infection), my breast cancer this year was a doddle! And yes, we do have the expression “going through the wringer” although I suppose more often we say “going through the mill” which has the same effect - a general squashing - at least if you allow it lol! Wringers do produce nice dry clothes, and mills produce good flour for bread, so I suppose it could be worse!! I am glad things aren’t too bad for you Covid-wise where you are. I agree about the media - the mainstream media is absolutely horrendous and I think that’s pretty universal world-wide. We do have alternative outlets here in the UK where we get much more balanced reporting. I am actually very impressed with Sky News Australia which seems very balanced and honest - a far cry from our UK variety of Sky News, I can tell you, which is just as bad as the BBC. As for what they are reporting about us, as far as I am aware the supermarkets aren’t running out of food. I have a weekly delivery and there hasn’t been much of a problem - my hubby goes to another supermarket for me if there’s anything missing off the list and the shelves are full. I haven’t heard anything at all about petrol running out, either. These things are much worse in the USA with the supply chains breaking down and the container ships backed up off the coast. As for the NHS, that seems to be the only thing you are getting accurate reporting about - it’s a shambles these days. It is always on the verge of collapse every winter so nothing new because of Covid but they are using that as an excuse (as they do for everything). The structure and organisation of it is a mess and needs major reform. My dad worked for over 30 years in the NHS and retired in 1987 and even then things were pretty bad with low morale because of it, and I think he was glad to go when the time came, which was sad because he was an extremely dedicated surgeon. He was appalled at the level of waste and top-heavy management even then. At the moment, you can’t get a GP appointment because they are too busy giving people Juice injections. People are not getting early diagnosis or treatment for cancer and other life-threatening diseases and they are ignoring the fact that as many if not more people are dying from other causes than Covid because of their policies. They are moaning about bed shortages, but that is more to do with the fact that they have systematically closed wards and reduced staffing levels over several years. They built all those expensive emergency Nightingale Hospitals at the beginning of the pandemic and they have not been used at all. What we have now is a National Covid Service, not a National Health Service. It’s a scandal. The level of fear and paranoia being generated by the mainstream media propaganda machine is shocking and most people are welcoming all the restrictions which are totally against international human rights conventions. People need to wake up to what’s going on. Our PM is looking pretty shaky these days as people are waking up and discovering the hypocrisy and lying - the powers that be having Christmas parties with no social distancing etc last year while the rest of us were locked down and people are deeply angry at not being able to spend perhaps their last Christmas with elderly loved ones. His whole handling of Covid has been a mess with so many illogical and stupid rules. The world has gone mad. From a personal point of view I am glad that I got through my colon cancer before all this stuff began. I had absolutely no problem with getting immediate treatment for my breast cancer - our hospital seems to be exceptional, and I was able to get an initial GP appointment by doing an e-consult and they saw me straight away. I have no complaints about that but you hear horror stories elsewhere in the country. I am glad that neither of my parents lived to experience what is going on today - I don’t know what Dad would have made of it all, and Mum would simply not have understood any of it. Anyway, you can’t believe anything the mainstream media says - to get at the truth you have to dig deeper on alternative platforms.

My mother has been diagnosed with collen cancer. She now had to wear a collostomybag. We have no idea at what stage she's diagnosed with. I hope she does beat this. Prayed to God everyday to give her the strength she needs and that she can get the surgery to use the restroom again. It's been tuff for her to live with bipolar, I just don't want her to either live with a bag for the rest of her life or lose her. I hope God helps us and listens to our prayers.

Be thankful if you actually have symptoms, because I didn’t. I instead suffered from stage 4 Crohn’s disease, originally misdiagnosed as ulcerative colitis. My colon, a.k.a. large intestine, was so poor, that it literally fell apart, and ruptured while I was in the hospital receiving intravenous therapy at the age of 21. I was dead on the operating table for two minutes before they use the defibrillator and got my heart beating, so they could go on to perform a 10 hour long surgery to remove the remains of my shattered large intestine, where they also found colon cancer that was growing on the outside of my now shattered intestine and not on the inside, all the symptoms were being masked by the symptoms of the Crohn’s disease. In other words I literally had to die to save my life, because when the pathology came back it indicated the most aggressive strain of colon cancer out there, and it would’ve killed me in less than six months if it had gone undetected, and there’s nothing I could’ve done about it. Talk about irony! Yes it did hurt, a lot, in total, I’ve had 37 gastrointestinal surgeries leaving me with less than 5% of my entire G.I. tract, having my rectum removed and stitched shut, my entire large intestine and almost all of my small intestine taken away, but it’s remarkable how the human body can adapt to such drastic changes, I nearly died three more times, the doctors don’t know how or why I survived, but I’m still here, and I can still eat, not very much mind you, it’s the ultimate diet, Jenny Craig eat your heart out! I will soon probably have to go on TPN, a.k.a., intervenous nutrition, for the rest of my life, but it sure beats dying, and I’ll never worry about colon cancer ever again because I have no colon! That’s a very brief explanation of the past 34 years of my life, if you want more details feel free to ask whatever you want, I’ll do my best to answer and hopefully help some people, cheers and happy holidays to everyone!

My word, what a journey you have had. You are clearly a fighter! Well done indeed - you are an inspiration to people to keep going, you can defeat it. I thought I’d had a pretty rough time but my experience was a walk in the park in comparison. How do you manage your ileostomy? Once I’d got through a fairly steep learning curve, it’s been brilliant. I agree - no more colon cancer because no more colon lol! I had ulcerative colitis and then colon cancer in 2015. Getting the ileostomy meant no more UC, no more cramping, urgency, pain, accidents… it’s been totally brilliant. I have had problems with a recurring parastomal hernia (two repairs, both failed), but I’m living with it for now, awaiting an elective surgery which is now unlikely to happen at all, with all such operations being cancelled because we only have a National Covid Service here in the UK and not an NHS. You are right about the human body adapting - it is miraculous how it can still function when so many bits are removed!

My Nana died in 2012 due to colon cancers but she ate a lot and I mean ALOT of pork! Sousmeat , pork chops, ribs, liver wurst, and many other processed foods. I really wish I knew that this stuff was bad for her because I loved her so much she died a year before my high school graduation and it was so sad because I had a track meet the day she died. And when we got back to my hometown from the track meet I dropped my dad off at my Nanas house and I went to my high school because we were having a pep rally. Anyway my dad called me and told me she had died and I felt so bad because instead of me going in and saying hello when I dropped my dad off I sped off to go see friends at school. And I abandoned her in her time of need. I hope whoever is watching this makes the necessary changes so that colon cancer risk can be diminished so we can stay healthy. I love you all ! This is all correct . My dad had this horrible cancer ,he had abdominal distension ,fatigue and severe digestive problems which he mistaken as IBS . He was hospitalised after he felt very sick and vomited ,when they checked inside his body the found a large tumour in his colon that was blocking the passage and a few metastasis in his stomach ,he had a week’s amount of un digested food in his stomach hence why he was feeling nauseous , in the weeks prior to that he had dark urine and pale stools . When we found out we didn’t expect it to be cancer ,in hindsight he had all the symptoms mentioned in this video . He fought the battle for 2 long excruciating years where he deteriorated ,he was very strong and will always live in our hearts ♥️

In 2008 I was diagnosed with CRC. I had a new full suspension Mountain Bike and was riding to keep up with more aggressive (younger) riders. At the end of the day, I started eliminating blood. (estimate of 2 litres) This led to a visit in late evening to Emergency Services at a hospital. I discovered that fainting will promote you to the front of the line as they practice triage at Emergency Services. Before I fainted I had been bumped back in the queue by a homeless guy that arrived with bigger immediate problems than me. My new Mountain bike saved my life. Surgery was successful at eliminating the CRC. The other symptom I had was an unexplained weight loss of 10 Kg over a period of 3 months. I waited for 3 yrs to have a follow-up Colonoscopy and another CRC tumor was found. The same surgery was completed and I have been clear for the last 10 yrs. I have annual Colonoscopy procedures now. As I have Crohn's Disease, (no symptoms for 40 yrs since resection surgery) Chemo Therapy was not an option. I am Canadian so there was no cost for this medical care. (other than taxes of course) All procedures were done immediately except follow-up Colonoscopy tests which I choose the dates for.

@Gabe F I live in Alberta. We have no sales tax here, and our cost of living is somewhat lower than in the USA. Taxes on cigarettes, alcohol and gasoline, fund much of our healthcare system. Our taxes pay for many programs which are not offered in the USA, one example is, 1 yr paid leave when you have a baby, for either the mother or father. I can't believe I am defending taxation. The USA does many things very well but also some not so well. If my ambition was strictly to make money, I'd go to the USA. Some professions such as Medical Dr and Legal (Lawyers) make substantially more in the USA. Our family is on both sides of the border and I have dual citizenship. I chose to live in Canada. The city I live in has a massive number of USA citizens who live here long term or full time. There is also a huge number of people who travel here for medical procedures (and pharmaceuticals) that are not affordable for them in the USA. Your politics are much, much more entertaining though. I am retired and have been thinking of doing a BBQ pilgrimage through the Southern states. Suddenly I am a bit concerned if that would be safe. You should never give a retired person an excuse to talk. :o)

I'm very sorry for you loss... There's a big difference however between small intestinal cancer however, sadly her doctor most likely would of missed it because the best test for colon cancer is a colonoscopy, to date we can't go into the small intestinal track, colonoscopies only explore the large intestine because its large enough for the scope and there's not alot of twists and turns like you would have in the small intestine, each twist and turn has the possibility to become problematic so we don't explore the small intestine... We can reach the end of the small intestine called the Ileum, but we cant go any further then that. So this is actually very important to everyone, everyone should discuss with their doctors about having a Capsule Colonoscopy done. This is a capsule with 360 Degree cameras which rotates and takes picture of the whole digestive track from mouth to rectum... That along with some imagining tests with contrast is the only way to get a full read on a person's organs or in this case the intestinal track both small and large. Damn it... I'm so sorry for your loss this is tough. Sending you and your family much love

My husband wouldn't listen to me for months. He was in a ton of pain, was losing weight and couldn't poop. He has stage 4 colorectal cancer. They had to do an emergency colotomy. And, they couldn't operate on it due to where it was located. They have tried both chemo and immunotherapy. Neither worked. They are going to be trying a pill, we're still waiting for approval, etc from the insurance. If this doesn't work, they don't have much hope for him, just a few months at best Please, please don't ignore the symptoms. I'm adding this because a few people have asked for an update, or are offering prayers for his healing. On April 25th, at 6:03 pm, God took him home. He was just in so much pain. I like to picture it as Jesus saying, you've had enough pain. Your mansion is ready, so come on home. He always liked the Footprints in the Sand poem, so that's what was on the prayer cards from his funeral. As for me, I'm standing firm in my belief of a God that loves me and cares for me. I don't pretend to understand why He allowed this to happen, but I don't need to know, I just need to trust Him.

I was at work when my dad called me to say my mom was in surgery for a feeding tube, and a tracheostomy in her neck. At the ICU, she wrote,"I KNEW I WAS SICK FOR A LONG TIME." (Coffee ground substances were oozing out of both surgery sites.)AFTER SHE LEFT THE ICU, I stayed with her overnight during a week long chemotherapy regimen. She suffered! I helped her the best I could. She came home. I cleaned her tubes, and the coffee grounds were multiplying! She asked for ambulance. (Unlike her) They brought her to the ER. DEHYDRATION was their diagnosis. I told her I had to go to work but, I would visit her after. My father said there wasn't an extra bed, and she would be fine overnight. I AM SOOOO GUILTY! AT 3a.m the hospital called to say she took a turn for the WORSE. I never got to say bye, I love you, etc. Let's do the opposite! Let's take CARE OF OURSELVES! Had a sharp pain on my left side. went to the DR they did an emergency CT found out I had a 6cm mass. I had surgery two days later in fact they wouldn't even let me go home from the hospital just doped me up on percocet for the pain and said wait for surgery. After surgery they found the tumor was actually about 4cm at its largest point. the doctor took 30 lymph nodes all of them clean, i had a G1 well differentiated adenocarcinoma. So a very basic very slow growing low risk tumor. doctors said it was about a 6% chance it would come back over 10 years. They said I won the lottery because of the blockage factor they all assumed it was at least stage 3. but nope pathology came back with the best news a CRC patient could get.

In the back of my mind, I think I've known it was something like this. But I have no health insurance, raising my young granddaughter, and it seems I'm always struggling to work to support her a well as myself. I've reached the point where it's physically hard, even taxing, for me to do the physical work I do. I've had to give up one of my jobs because I feel like crap most of the time. But this has left me n nearly destitute. I can't afford insurance. No doctor will see me without it or if they do I will get low level treatment and end up in horrible shape. At the same time, my granddaughter doesn't need me checking out on her without at least a fight. IDK what to do other than pray, which I do much of that. the next scary thing is "something is wrong and it does not go away something is wrong down there" you then get scared and enter a state of denial. you know something is wrong but you think its a death sentence so you go on and on. sure enough years later there is cancer down there and most turn themselves in only at the last minute. Thats what I did because my choice was "i would rather be dead than have an operation scarring my body" what a stupid child I was. its now 25 years later but they said my odds were less than 5% that I would live past five years. well my body is scarred up but I am healthier now than I was when I turned myself in. Colon cancer is no longer a death sentence

Something needs to change regarding the screening age. Children, teens, and twenty-somethings are getting it. They are slipping through the cracks. I do not believe disease knows age. It may be more common in certain age groups but that doesn't mean we can't get it. They should be treating it with urgency if the symptoms are there regardless of birth year.

I just have to throw this out. A lot of you do realize that you're having digestive issues and cancer because of high sugar, high fat, high salt, and processed food diets. I would recommend that you try to eliminate as much of that stuff as you can. Highly processed and refined foods. Stay away from fake food, stay away from stuff that has ingredients you can't pronounce, try to stick with whole foods, natural foods, lots of fruits and vegetables, raw protein. I would highly recommend that you stay away from non organic foods, anything that's high in fat make sure it's organic. Most of the toxins are stored in fat. Try to stick with the healthy oils. Such as Olive oil, coconut oil, butter. I would also recommend that you start lowering your carb intake. Make sure not to eat naked carbs. Always eat your carbs with a fat or protein. Make sure that your calories are up there where they should be. Start cutting out the cheap process foods, the government funded foods, just stop shopping for stuff in the aisles, that are in a box or a bag. I would strongly recommend that you rely on fruits and vegetables as much as possible. Eat small portions of meat, about 3 times a week. I'm allergic to soy and corn which makes it very hard. This is part of what's forced me to make some major changes in my eating habits, along with having intestinal issues, GI bleeding, stomach issues, ulcers, H pilori. All I know is that when I change my diet I have seen major improvement, and I feel immensely better. I went through a major withdrawal. Because of the foods I was eating. Sugar is a major issue for a lot of people and is poison and destroys the liver, just like alchohol. Proper foods is a major issue for a lot of people, it's making us so unhealthy. Get back to the raw natural basics and rely on that heavily. I would also recommend that you learn a little bit about how food works, and how it's supposed to work together for a healthy system. For a healthy stomach, a healthy gut, healthy intestines. You know you have the food Pyramid right? It's Fruits, vegetables, meats, dairy, grains, and then you have sugar or baked goods. Just cut out sugar all together. You can get plenty of sugar in your fruits vegetables and carbs. It's also important for you to understand there's another food Pyramid, and that is digestive enzymes, acid, fiber, polyphenals, anti oxidants, nutrients, Pre pro and post biotics. All these things are very important for your gut health, for your stomach health, for your intestinal health, and you're just not gonna get those health benefits from convenience foods, fast foods, box foods, prepared meals, microwave dinners, stay away from garbage. You may find that most of your problems go away, and even if you have cancer, that it will heal and you will find that there is a major improvement in your overall health and wellbeing. There's also natural supplements you can take to help you out. Basically there's a natural supplement to take care of every area that I have spoken about. Everything from digestive enzymes, to anti oxidants. The only one that you can't really get from supplements is polyphenols, so you're gonna have to get it through food sources. Research this stuff and look into it. That why you can have a better understanding of what it does, and how to use food as medicine. You will find that food can be very enjoyable in it's natural state. Actually I have gotten to the point now where I find that the food that I used to like, is completely disgusting and unpleasant to my pallet now. Good luck to you all. I hope you all find good health. If you want some resources, if you want some RU-vid channels, or want to know the supplements I take to help me, then I'll send you the information. Also the doctors, the ones that you're going to for modern medicine. Their partners with pharmaceutical, and it's a big money grab. They're all interested in supporting their partners, and the ones that keep them funded. They're not gonna tell you anything that's going to shame Coca-Cola company, because they're funded by Coca-Cola company, alright. They're not gonna tell you things that is gonna take away business from government funded stuff, so keep all that in mind. They're not going to tell your cancer is a melabolic issue, because they see it as a genetic issue. These rules are set in stone for them, and they are enforced by people that are higher up than them. That essentially enforce the politics for their practice. The only way you're going to get useful help, unless you want to deal with surgery and chemotherapy, and a bunch of expensive pills, then you're gonna have to go and seek out professional help that doesn't rely on these practices. Such as a homeopathic doctor, or a herbalist, someone that practices natural medicine or do your own research.

Bonnie you put God Almighty without putting a comma and then adding and. and considering that Jesus Christ is not God almighty I would say that that is a serious faux pas.. Exodus 3:15 Divine name King James version Bible 2012.....400th anniversary edition. makes it very clear that God's name is Jehovah and He says that it is forever His name from generation to generation. So that does not equate to Him being Jesus Christ, who very clearly stated hundreds of times in the Greek scriptures is God's son and mankind's savior and the now reigning king of God's Kingdom...

I’m the only one in my family who’s had cancer - I’ve had it twice - colon in 2015 and breast this year. My family has always been pretty fit (until extreme old age). My husband’s family have all had cardiovascular disease - heart attacks, strokes, vascular dementia - and apart from one brother (the one with dementia) and my hubby, all have died. I did my best to take my hubby’s health in hand as the whole family were morbidly obese because of a shockingly bad diet, but it’s only in recent years that I’ve really got on top of it, discovering the whole-food plant-based lifestyle. He is now the slimmest that any of his family have ever been! Cardiovascular disease, type 2 diabetes, various cancers (especially colorectal) have all been proved to be diet-related. The standard western diet is a total disaster. Doctors just treat symptoms with drugs, procedures and surgery and never teach patients about prevention. Apparently they only get about 1-2 hours’ instruction on nutrition in their whole medical training. This is a scandal. Of course, they are all working with Big Pharma where the profits are made - these companies are not interested in preventative medicine or curing people - they make their money from the chronically sick. These diseases do tend to run in families and too many doctors put it down to genetics - of course it often is genetic, but very often it’s lifestyle - it certainly was in my hubby’s family. Well done for getting regular checks, and for passing on such good advice to your children too. You can’t be too careful.

If you are worry about your colon, consider stop smoking inmmediately. Your lungs will thank you for that , too. Lung cancer is also deadly. Also stop drinking. Cirrhosis its horrible. I knew a man who died from it. His belly was hard as a stone and full of varicose veins. Also threw blood from both sides By mouth and through his anus, you know, bloody diarrhea). Depends how many years you are smoking, the damage in your lungs is irreversible. If not cancer, COPD is the other illness have to deal if you don’t quit.

I'm 43 and gave up smoking around 36/36. I had to give up drinking and smoking as I couldn't do one without the other. Best decision I made. Yeah it's tough for a year, but you're an adult. So stop acting like a child and accept you can't always have what you want. There's no point having a diagnosis saying "yeah but"

In Canada after a certain age they send you a kit where you send a stool sample back for testing. My husband had his first colenosopy because of these tests. Polyps removed both time, but no cancer. My brother did have cancer, so I have had 3 colenosopies so far. Every 5 years. No problems at all so far. I am also sent the home tests. I know things are different in the states, but I bet some company down there does the home tests.

We have those home tests here in the UK too, Dawn. It was through my first one that my ulcerative colitis was diagnosed, and they kept a close eye on me after that. If I hadn’t had the initial home test, my colon cancer 18 months later might have been missed. I am so grateful!

With my family it was womb and breast in the woman, stomach and bowel in men. My cousin Micheal died of bowel cancer at 24 and his father my uncle Bill died of the same cancer two years later at 54. Apparently my Gran always said that she would walk in front of a tram if she had cancer. Sadly most of that generation suffered in silence, kept it to themselves till it was far too late. Happily there is not the same stigma as we live in a much more enlightened world. So, keep up the vigilance and stay well.

If cancer runs in the family and hereditary we have to change the dna through healthy lifestyles like eating healthy(no kfc no mac d and no hot dog) like fruits and green leafy vegetables doing regular exercise avoid tension/misery enough deep sleep(min.8 hours) be friendly and smile more often.May be our parents had an unfortunate time because those days were hard.
@ShoshiPlatypus

How true. In recent years they’ve discovered epigenetics, and you can change how your genes work, through a healthy lifestyle. I wish I’d known years ago what I know now - I could have avoided all those years of ulcerative colitis and then colon cancer. My hubby and I now eat whole-food plant-based and it’s brilliant. We’re both maintaining a healthy weight and he’s managing his diverticular disease pretty well too. There is nothing like Real Food! I don’t call that junk stuff food at all - it’s ballast at best, and poison at worst! You are so right about a positive and happy attitude too, and being friendly and smiling! Such a tonic! Having had 2 independent bouts of cancer, I always say I try to keep a healthy Sense of TUMOUR lol!! Unfortunately with my ME (chronic fatigue syndrome, which has many weird symptoms) I never get anything like 8 hours of sleep a night - more like 4 or 5, and being partially disabled with it, I can’t take exercise, but for me, diet and mental attitude are everything - we just have to do the best with what we’ve got, don’t we. Keep smiling! It doesn’t just do you good, it helps others too! (The trouble is, these days nobody can see you smile because you have to wear a horrible mask all the time… but don’t get me started on that subject!!!)

This feels like the same person talking to themselves. You can't cause epigenetic change to your DNA by eating fruits. Start taking NAC 1000 mg daily, and don't eat fruits with seeds. Stop eating raw or undercooked meats, and avoid saturated fat unless it's from an animal protein. Alcohol and cigarette smoking are the 2 biggest culprits behind colon cancer. These changes in diet are only designed to be anti-inflammatory into the gut. Eliminating alcohol and cigarettes cemetery is what helps the most.
@ShoshiPlatypus
@ShoshiPlatypus 2 года назад
@SilverSurfer Quite right. It’s actually a misnomer in this case to call it heredity. My hubby was told his high BP and cholesterol were “hereditary” - running in the family - but once I got his diet in hand - we have now been whole-food plant-based for about 2 years - his weight plummeted, and so did his BP and cholesterol, and the doctor was amazed at the difference. His whole family were morbidly obese and they have nearly all died of cardiovascular disease (heart attacks, strokes) and his one surviving brother has vascular dementia. My hubby is the fittest of the lot, and it’s all down to diet. It’s all too easy to label health problems that run in families as genetic when it’s the lifestyle that’s at fault.

Little over a year ago I caught covid, and had other health issues appearing out of no where.. During that time I felt deathly sick from covid. I was throwing up, sweating, cold chills, stopped urinating and passing stool... delirious and I remember one day rolling around in pain in bed then I felt what resembled an explosion go off inside my lower left abdomen. When I felt a large painful pop, I had passed a scary aggressive stool through my pants and underwear... it followed up with an unbearable amount of pain that knocked me out... when I woke up a few hrs later I had started bleeding a lot. Took 1.5 month straight of large amounts of blood and golf ball sized blood clots to finally sort itself out. I was so bed ridden that I had to build up the ability to even walk to the store across the street with out fainting.. I lost a lot of weight, my hair started falling out, mental health declined... eventually I thought I was getting better and it was good for a few months... now it's coming back and this time I'm going to actually seek help, have it documented by a doctor.. really wish I would've done it before... I'm only 27 yrs old and I honestly feel like 28 will be my last and I really dont throw that around lightly.. I've been having a lot of health issues surfacing and doctors assume that it's just a menstrual cycle meanwhile I only get maybe 2 periods a year :(
