Also, Caretaker's work has both Boards and Hell Interface influences written all over it. Not surprising, considering Hell Interface would publish their tracks on Kirby's label.
@@JeanMarceaux oh did they? well yeah that makes sense, but i had no idea! as for the remix, i don't think its tame at all, it has the same eeríe, backhanded quality of all these hellinterface cuts, the ghostly lower pitched vocals, and how they work with the theme of the song....

The eeriness is inherently present on this remix, just like Soylent Night, it's just that in the coming years we've seen studio techniques that deconstruct the recognizable tunes even further, turning them into truly haunting experiences. Caretaker immediately comes to mind, of course. Funnily enough, I've listened to this remix more than I did the original, and I've started forgetting how the original even sounded.
@@JeanMarceaux yeah same here! Right now I also can't quite say what it was like, only that it was quite different. I actually found the original vinyl in a used electronics store in my hometown, back when I had only heard this mix, and I remember the surprise. Unfortunately the friend I left my bag with those vinyls hasn't picked up his phone for two years, so I don't know what happened to it.Guy is alive, but I can't find him 0.0 I remember another friend of his offered me good money for it, apparently its rare, or he thought it is.

The cacophony at 3:18 is tragic yet gorgeous. It becomes such a mess that it turns a corner and becomes united/simple/ beautiful. It changes to an alarm-sounding horn…..very terrifying

Who did this edit? where can you find the audio recording to download/buy? I know it's a remix Boards of Canada did (with their Hell Interface project) but this version is very much different from the version they released back in 1995!

Just listening weakly over my laptop, so the differences may be a little hard to pick out, but there were always two mixes of this; one of them appears on one of the Old Tunes-like tapes, and it's probably this version. The MASK one is way better.
oboqoo It is what ti appears to be, this trippier version is from Old Tunes, the version on MASK is different, crunchier beats and longer and a little bit less good.
+Krasius The vinyl you have is an unofficial bootleg. This is simply titled 'Trapped' on BoC's 'A Few Old Tunes' tape. It has no direct affiliation with their Hell Interface side project.
1. Get a Time Machine. 2. Go back to 1991, Scotland. 3. Ingratiate yourself into the Sandison family as a best mate over 6-12 months. 4. Casually ask Mike or Marcus for a dub of “Old Tunes Volume 2” one night at the pub. It’s got to be before they sign with Warp or they’ll deny the album exists. Good luck, maybe some day they’ll make a movie about your story.
