Absolutely Spectacular Historical Archive....I visit Colonial Williamsburg at least twice per month..from Va. Beach....tons of Photos on the CW Friends Site...This film is an Historical Treasure...

The trees surrounding the green outside the governor's palace are so young. They're huge now

Hey those trees at the Palace were huge in the 1970s when I was at W&M; and the new brick buildings were called the Old Campus and the Wren Building was tagged as the Ancient Campus - Millington Hall was the ultra new Biology labs. A few years ago Millington was leveled and the new new multi discipline Science Row completed. But the oldest Dawn Redwoods and the tree that is the first higher organism to be cloned still grow to the stars......

Thank you for this! I visited CW back in July 1976 for the bicentennial, and at age 12 I loved the place. Going back as an adult is on my Bucket List!

Was there in 2018. It is funny to see the new 1930's cars driving on the cobblestone roads. Horse and carriage only now

I was there over the weekend. What a spectacular city! Can't get enough of it. Going back in March to sit in the Jury of the trial of the Witch of Pungo Grace Sherwood. Should be fun.

There are more Billionaires in America than ever before and many of which have over 100 Billion. How many people or Foundations today could purchase and restore more Historic areas, yet Historic Preservation is struggling all over our Nation. Many Historic Homes and buildings and collections are being disbursed.

It seems many of the billionaires today are primarily interested only in making more money. They do not invest much in civic life, like previous generations.

On funding Historical Preservation: Actually more than 800 USA Billionaires today, Rockefeller had the record for income tax payment that today would equal about $135 million. (Top Tax Rate then was 7.5% set just to catch the Oil Baron) Elon Musk just paid $11 BILLION in taxes. New record.

Dominic Zeno :1699 was when Williamsburg was established. That is the 17th century.

True, but the town as it exists today represents the 18th century. The Wren Building. which now appears as it did after the 18th century re-building, and one other house, the Thomas Nelson House, circa 1698 (and that now has the appearance of rebuilding done in the 1740's) are the only two surviving structures that can claim a 17th century date. The rest of the town has been restored to its 18th century appearance.

I live in Williamsburg. Lived here all my life. Its a warzone now. Gangs have taken over Colonial Williamsburg, the Kimball Theatre had to shut down, its horrible.

That's a LIE!!! I've lived here all of my life, 48 years and there are wannabe gangs as in all cities and there has never been a shut down you're claiming. You wanna talk about something, let's talk about how the slaves built these beautiful buildings...
