Leaving this review for the Griffon Hotel here as it is managed by the Williamsburg Inn and the inn was solidly booked so we had to stay at the Griffon. Disgusting run down hotel that should be classified as a Motel. Management that doesn’t care about their guests. We paid for a $219 Griffin King Fireplace, With Pond View accommodation. We received an adjoining type room that was occupied by l noisy/drunk guests. We quickly requested to be moved, however the only option offered to us by Paula “the manager” was a downgrade or move to ANOTHER building. Given that it was late, we were going to stay in the room so Paula offered a $50 credit. However, the guests become more unruly, we did not feel safe, so we asked to move. We were moved to a room that was $199 -2 full size beds, it was a rundown room. It went from bad to worse. I asked Paula what we ended up with as a credit since we were forced to downgrade and she said NOTHING. We paid for the downgrade. There was zero compensation credit at all for the inconvenience!!! 1. Having to move to a disgusting room is worse not BETTER. 2. There was NO apology. from Paula 3. We were inconvenienced & absolutely NOTHING was done, no compensation, no credit- NOTHING. My husband is 6’2 it was terrible. We were forced into a situation because we didn’t feel safe. We were forced to stay near an unsafe situation or forced to pay for a dump. This was not the experience we wanted & Paula did nothing for us to ease the burden of us having to pack up 8 bags onto a cart, then walk around the building to another wing, in the dark, into a disgusting downgraded room. The tub is stopped up as well, so we get to shower and wade in filthy water. Do not stay at this property. The room had no quilt, no comforter NOTHING a sheet on the bed. I have to say this is absolutely the worst experience I have ever had. The website photos of the accommodations appear to be retouched or are from when the hotel was new, as they are a gross misrepresentation and do not resemble the room we received. Our room was old and out of date. No slippers or robes. No blankets or quilts. TERRIBLE!!
