When I saw the thumbnail I thought, oh just another HDR color grading video. But man, was I wrong. Some really important information here. Thanks for that. Happy holidays 🎄🎉

Must need a newer iPhone to get the codecs you show here.

The only thing that would make this video better was if the video was published in HDR (with HDR screen recordings)

Hi! You guys are the best! Been following ( and purchasing) for a few years! quick question: My FCP doesn't prompt me to change library to HDR WIDE GAMUT when adding Apple log clips. Im running the latest 10.7 on a Mac mini M1. Any info would be great! but if not, keep up the great work fellas!!

Here is where the confusion lies. in BMB App, the setting is Apple Log - HDR. This is confusing because it causes folks to conflate LOG with HDR when they are two separate things. If you shoot Apple LOG in ProRes (and not HLG), FCP has NO WAY of knowing that you intend to worrk with that clip in an HDR library, so you have to set the library color space to Wide Gamut Manually.

@@rippleguys Ahhhhh right! That setting in BM app is confusing. It should just say “Apple Log” and not add the “-HDR part. It’s absolutely 2 different things! As the Beatles said “I Should have known better” Thank you so much for your quick and perfectly succinct answer! 🙏🏼 2nd quick question: Should I always be working in an HDR WIDE GAMUT project when shooting in Apple LOG Pro Res?

Yeah your graded shot looks tons better in every way. Thanks for the explanation on the "Brightness" slider. I wish it was labeled as "Gamma" but I get the feeling FCP isn't aimed at people who know what Gamma is. Or perhaps it's just Apple's attempt to make it all less intimidating?

Great video! Question, I took some videos of an apartment with my iPhone 13 mini with the native Apple Camera, but they seem too dark and I have read that I need to keep the exposure under 100 and shadows above 0 based on the waveforms, but my waveforms in FCPX are showing up to 10K, so my question is which is the the correct range that I have to keep my exposure and shadows in these cases where my waveform shows up to 10K? Thanks a lot!!

If you are looking at the clip in the scopes while the clip is still in the browser (it hassn't yet been placed into a project), then yes, te scopes will show the full range of brightness up to 10K. However, once you place the clip into an SD (standard rec 709) project and look at the same clip in the scopes you will see the range change from 0 to 100. If you are delivering SDR, then that is correct - your darkest pixels should be sitting at zerro and the brightest ones sitting at or below 100.

@@rippleguys Hi! The videos are already in my timeline and shows in the scopes up to 10K. What can I do here? I would love to send you a screenshot of my project but I can't here 😥
@rippleguys
@rippleguys 7 месяцев назад
@@alono4473 You are working in a wide gamut library and you should be working in a standard library. You need to chnage the library color space to standard.

@@rippleguys Actually I did changed it but still the same issue with the scopes, no idea why isn't working 😓
@rippleguys

@@alono4473 Then you are working in a PQ project and you need to change it to a rec 709 project - I cover all of this an more in the tutorial I spoke about in the beginning.
