Song: Remind Me to Forget by Kygo and Miquel This is my audition video for my 2019 color guard Captain tryout. This routine was completely choreographed by me with additions of mostly self taught moves.
We just learned the silk work you we're doing and I can't do it lol! YOUR RIFLE HONEY!!! IT'S AMAZING! YOU TOSSED THAT THING LIKE IT WAS A FEATHER! I'm truly amazed!
Listen, I never comment on videos but this is one I just had to comment on. Girl, you are so amazing and talented. The work and effort you put into to that routine really shows. Never give up on this. I loved everything about this whole video and I hope you go far. Even the attitude with routine amazes me. You could tell you were confident and you have such a high level of energy. You are radiant. Keep working hard and doing you because I am blown away with how skilled you are. Amazing job!
Outstanding job , i marched indoor guard drum corp marching band individuals ( sabre) back in the 80s. Yes im old 56yrs. For Mother's Day my boys just bought me a silk and 5.5 pole and I have 2 sabres, picking this up again to get in shape .
Nice choreographing. You have a great vocabulary and a solid sense of control over the equipment. Honestly, I’ve met some coaches who can’t do half of what you did in this video. My only piece of advice would be to make sure that the energy of the choreography matches the energy of the song. When the song goes soft, so should the movements. When the song is loud, your choreography should match it. Of course, this is just my opinion. Take it as you will.
Thank you so much for your comment! This was in 2019 and I've since marched 2 years of drum corps and going on my third. I would definitely change a lot of this routine now that I've learned and grown so much. Thank you!
I’m trying out for colorguard next month have had no experience whatsoever I’m really nervous but these videos make me super excited I hope I make it😁 Your so good I’m impressed great job!!
amazing choreography. I’m a freshie in college now but did guard in high school. It’s so crazy seeing all these videos of great color guard performances. I feel like I want to perform again, but also like I should be happy with my experience and just focus on college instead of getting tied up with DCI/independent winter guard. not to mention that I feel like I’m just not good enough. I never did saber, only rifle and flag, and I struggle at dance turns/spins cus I’m naturally more prone to dizziness. I get car sick super fast same thing with turns. videos like this keep my love for guard going. it’s an amazing decently long choreography. perhaps if there was a guard nearby where I live, or if my college had color guard, I would still be spinning.
Hey John! Take it from someone who was essentially self-taught on rifle, flag, and dance you can do it! I was HORRIBLE at dance, but there is so much you can learn from others and the internet. I've been in Drum Corps for two years now and going into my third, and it takes a lot of practice, commitment, and passion. If you can do that and keep to it then you will do unimaginable things in this sport. You've got this!
I'm in winterguard and I'm going into eighth grade so this is going to be my third year doing it. it is really cool that my middle school has a team and because of it the high school team is 10× better
It’s totally ok to make mistakes, but instructors want to see if you are coachable more than anything. If you can take and apply corrections with a good attitude, they’ll love that.
ENERGY!!!!!! If you are passive and don't have any energy, even if it's a slower song, then it isn't going to look good. But, keep in mind that your energy needs to align with the energy of the song.
Hi, how are you? Hey, I wanted to ask you something, I'm from Venezuela and here we have a cheerleader band and in that band several things are practiced among those Color guard flags but we do it with smaller flags, I wanted to know if you can tell me what material the flag tube is made of and how much each of them measures, please
Hello!! So the pole itself is usually made out of metal, and it’s six feet long. I’m going to attach a link to one similar to what I’m spinning in the video! :) www.bandshoppe.com/shop/color-guard/color-guard-flags/flag-poles-accessories/aluminum-flag-poles-58102/gold/default.html
So this is my color guard captain tryout video! Our goal is to create a routine that features our strengths, and you have the choice of spinning a weapon but are required to spin flag. I did end up getting solo color guard captain this year. :)
@@ellagienapp3002 ahh okay, our captains are decided by work ethic and leadership they've contributed as a part of the guard and have to be good a spinner. The staff works as a whole to determine the best people instead of auditions :) Thanks for clarifying and you look good!
@@Spaciousbow3572 That's awesome! And yeah we have to go through two different interviews, fill out a leadership application and ultimately the decision is made by our color guard director, band director, and assistant band director. Oh and our auditions of us spinning are also judged by three anonymous members outside of our band (a couple of them were directors from other states and drum corps members!) :)
