In this three-part Photoshop tutorial, we will learn how to use Adobe Stock’s visual search to find the right images for your projects faster, as well as learn two color-matching techniques.
00:00 - Introduction
01:40 - Using Adobe Stock's Visual Search
03:45 - Color Matching Using Hue Blending Mode
07:30 - Color Matching Using The Lab Color Mode
You can use the first method to change the color of an object quickly and easily using the Hue Blending Mode. The second method creates a more accurate color match using the Lab color mode.
The color that we’re going to match onto the objects in our images is Greenery, the Pantone Color of The Year 2017.
Every year since 2000, the Pantone Color Institute has chosen a color that reflects the current cultural climate. The Pantone color of the year has historically influenced trends in all facets of design. Including architecture, interior décor, fashion, food, travel, and many others fields.

This is a fantastic tip and one I will certainly have a look at. However… THE simplest way to swap colours is by using the Channel Mixer adjustment tool. It uses the same colour theory that preceeded Photoshop. I'm really liking the tips from the other videos, especially the LUT's one. Keep them coming!

This is great and very helpful! I have a question coming off of this video...What is the best way to color match an actual swatch that is not on your computer (for example a piece of fabric) to an item in a photo?
@maginashun
@maginashun 4 года назад
Easy to follow tutorial. I guess the second sample point doesn't need to be exact because somehow mine ended up being completely off the color I wanted to change at some point during the tutorial but I kept on going. I changed the values just like in the tutorial and my subject color changed to match as intended but sample #2 values didn't change because they were off target. Which makes me wonder the step of taking a second sample point is even needed. This was simple enough that I think I can remember how to do it next time without having to make an action or refer back to this video. Thanks!
@atephoto
@atephoto 7 лет назад
You could also make an adjustment layer and "apply image" A channel to mask of layer then modify mask with a curve 😊After doing all this I use to convert to smart objects while in LAB to preserve ALL layers, then I go back to RGB. Works like a charm and its non-destructable.
@PhotoshopTrainingChannel
@PhotoshopTrainingChannel 7 лет назад
Awesome! Thanks for sharing!!!
@atephoto
@atephoto 7 лет назад
You're welcome! Love this video tho! Using channels as mask is a very fast way to isolate colors like that, you can also "apply image" and use Lightness channel to get a luminosity mask, then tweak the mask with (CMD+M / Ctrl+M) curve so you can define it just as you want. But yeah, the "Smart object" conversion inside of LAB changed my life totally. I can now go back in to LAB layers and modify long long down the road! :D You should show this to your subscribers because I think very few guys know about this! =) You should check my "mentor" Dan Margulis on Kelby training. He literally is the "father" of LAB color space and he knows every corner of all colorspaces :) I bought all of his training videos and his books, just fan-tas-tic, and I learned so much! :)

Sorry for mentioning my mentor, but he is soon forgotten... He is really worth to watch.. He also have some youtube videos from long long back =) Search him; Dan Margulis

Yup. Dan is the father of Lab. Has great videos and books on it. He's real nice too. I met him a few years ago.
@atephoto
@atephoto 7 лет назад
Thats awesome. I would be starstruck because I almost only use LAB for those "impossible corrections" thanks to him. I cannot wait for next movie now, I think the Pantone thing was a new a-ha for me. I used to do this a lot harder than this! Thanks!

@gerardomelara5659
@gerardomelara5659 7 лет назад
Is it better to color an object using this technique than doing it through color match option or doing it by selecting the color and ad a hue saturation effect and colorize?
@PhotoshopTrainingChannel
@PhotoshopTrainingChannel 7 лет назад
"Better" is a relative term. If you want to get a close approximation to a color then yes. If you need something that is not precise then use the other methods. No need to make it complicated if the precision is not required.
