What a fantastic explanation of color for the color dummy like me that has 4 different color wheels in quilting supplies. It’s ok to laugh. I’m watching your video again.
Really appreciated this tutorial and NOW I understand why some colors play together in quilts so much nicer than others. Thanks so much for taking the time to make this video. You are appreciated!
This is the first time I ever understood the color wheel. I have watched this video three times now. I just ordered a creative color wheel on Amazon. You are an amazing teacher. . Thank you so much for the simple way you explained it all. I have always had trouble with color. I will use this video to plan every project from now on.
WOW! Just found this video, the best I have ever seen in understanding color. I am 85 and have had problems always putting color together. I make a lot of scrap quilts because the color just happens but I miss making blocks. Thank you, never too old to learn!
I think this was a very fun video. One of the chief complaints from customers and students is the inability to match colors for their quilts properly and are always asking for my help in choosing fabric. I enjoy helping them organize and create their master piece while at the same time I want them to possess the freedom and confidence of walking in our quilt studio and picking the perfect fabrics that suite their project. In seeing their projects come together so nicely they need to have an understanding of color and nothing better than the color wheel can give them just that. Thank you for the video and the thought process behind choosing colors. What an excellent skill to have.
Very helpful! The way you compare colors to nature and showing your quilt fabric choices brings this very theoretical subject down to earth! I will refer to this frequently as I quilt! 😊
It was great!! Understanding the color wheel is something I've struggled with. I don''t make quilts but I do paint ... with acrylics. You have helped me tremendously. I will be watching this over and over again until I fully understand it, so I can produce better paintings. Thank you so much!!! Have a blessed day!
I stumbled on this tutorial by accident and so glad I did. This was the best tutorial I have ever seen on how to use the color wheel. I am going to order one from amazon. I crochet, knit and sew and I never know what colors to pick. I usually pick the same colors as the pattern suggests. Well, now I understand how to think outside the color box. Thank you so much.
Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! Your explanation was beyond perfect! At long last I can understand what the heck artists teaching watercolours are talking about. Your explanation was well planned and very well presented. Please give yourself a pat on the back for me. Andrea x
Andrea Motta thank you so much Andrea! I always feel that my Oklahoma Drawwwwl is probably annoying to other people. But I tell you, it took me months to get the courage to do it because there is so much information there. Thanks again for your very nice encouragement, I really appreciate it!
This is a great video, I have struggled with colors all my life in any craft that I have undertook and you have made it all come clear. The creative color wheel company should be paying you because I will be buying one today and I am sure a lot of other people with do the same after viewing this. Thank you so much.
Thank you so much for your video on the Color wheel. You really helped me out I didn't know how to pick out the color on the material. I would just go to Walmart and get five different colors that I liked but then I never started the quilt because it look odd. Truly thank for that I look forward to seeing more of your videos. Janet
This just popped up in my recommendations, even though it was published a few years ago, and I’m so glad it did. I’ve been exploring how to use a colour wheel and the patient explanation in this video was exactly what I needed. I’m a fairly new quilter and have trouble figuring out colours...this is a huge help!
Had to share this tutorial with my sewing group on Facebook, fabulous. And also I have ordered the Color Wheel too. This will really help with creating my quilts. Thank you so much
That was great Janice!! You explained the color wheel so well. I will definitely be using it to make my quilts now. Takes the guessing out of it somewhat. Thanks again...
I love this Video! I learned so much from you. You’re a great teacher! I think I finally understand how to chose colors for my quilts. Now I’m excited to start a new quilt with this information. I just ordered my color wheel from amazon. Thank you thank you thank you!!!
I second the last commentor - best explanation of the colour wheel. Thanks so much. I make cards and this will help use my colour wheel which, to date, I have not used!
Phantastic very clear explanation and very nuanced explanation of how it is possible to work with the color wheel - Thank you so much for sharing - I am happy that I stumbled into your very fine tutorial
This is one of the best understood color tutorial that I have seen. Thank you so much for sharing. I will have to get my color wheel off the wall, that I am using for decoration and use it to explore more color choices.
I know I'm challenged when it comes to colors. I have saved this tutorial to my favorites under quilting so I can refer to it in the future. I also ordered the Creative Color Wheel. Thanks!
Linda Jacobs Oh how nice of you. I wonder sometimes if I can get across what I want to say. I bet you will like working with a color wheel. I would like to hear from you again sometime and see if it helped. Thanks again!

Well thank you so much Jane! I appreciate that. I kept putting off making this video because it was so hard to detail. I was getting lost in the explanation of it myself, so I was afraid listeners were going to hate it, lol. Thanks again! Happy designing!!
Learned a lot, Janice! Loved that you showed us some of your quilt blocks and embroidery projects to demonstrate how the colors do indeed work when following the color wheel. I'd like to get the color wheel that you used in your video. Which one is it? Thank you!
Hi Cathy. I keep trying to tell you the exact one, but RU-vid is not letting me outright give the link or even the brand. So you will have to decode this. lol. It's the creative. color wheel. that you can find at the "color wheel co dot com, it is about $10. Thanks so much for your nice comments!

Hello Praguecowgirl! I wanted to thank you so much for this video. You finally made it clear for me how to use the wheel appropriately. Most other tutorials stick with the basic primary and secondary colors but I've learned from you that it's okay to make selections from from tones, tints, hues and use them together for my coloring book projects. Thank you!!
This was incredibly timely and helpful as I have known that some colors POP and I love that look but I couldn't figure out why some colors didn't pop even thought I thought they should. Thanks so much for putting all that time and effort into your explanation!
Thanks for taking the time to truly explain this particular color wheel (it is the one I purchased). I feel as though I have a greater understanding. I am an active left-brain learning right-brain terminology and artistry. Very much appreciated.
Thank you for the video! I've used the color wheel but always felt restricted. Your description gives freedom to move throughout the spectrums and you have clarity in your teaching skills. Although you mentioned it wasn't your most fun video to make, it was great fun for me to learn from you!!
thankyou i have been worrying about colours as i am just starting to do quilting and sewing and wasnt sure how to pick colours, and this video explains very well,i have just got to get a colour wheel, now
***** I never understood color wheel but will watch this again when mine gets here so I can understand. I still don't know what to do if I choose a color and it has a pattern where does that fit in the scheme of my choosing colors? go I choose more of what's in the pattern?

Thanks for taking the time to explain color, i have attempted several designs, but just guessed at the color scheme, have watched several other descriptive videos, but yours made so much more sense!
Thank you so much, Joan, for your very nice compliment! I kept putting off doing this one because it was such a technical subject. I thought it would be boring, but to my surprise, it has been my most watched video. Happy quilting!
Hey. How can I get a color wheel like you have. I have not seen them at Michael's or Hobby Lobby. I sure would like one like the one you're using. Can I order one? Thanks. Waiting to hear from you.
This was so educational! Exactly what I needed. I ordered a color wheel and now I feel like I have a plan! Thanks so much. I feel like I naturally have an eye for color but often will struggle with projects. I get caught up in just picking prints I like and then not finding the perfect compliments. This will help tremendously.
I had just purchased the exact color wheel that you have. I knit (not quilt) but your video was a PERFECT tutorial of this color wheel. You did an excellent job! Thank you so much.
This is a wonderful tutorial. Info delivered at right pace, visuals good, and comprehensive --- overall so helpful in my goal of understanding more about selecting colors for quilts. Have watched twice already and will do it again and again until I know it inside and out! After first viewing I immediately ordered a color wheel like yours! Thank you so much for this video.
