In desperation I got off of I-70 and Wadsworth and had to hold my windshield up with my sun shade because the glass was shattering into the car. Everyone around me that I could see was in complete panic mode. What a nightmare this was.

I remember this! It was near my house the clouds were moving really fast, we had a tornado warning but it never formed we just had a lot of rain and hail.

I do miss the Colorado weather, including the crazy storms. Thanks for sharing this!

One of the costliest hail storms in US history. It shut the Mills Mall down for a year. I live right there. Damage for the area was 1.5 to 2.5 billion dollars...I lived over by Safeway on Alameda where we got golf balls sized hail, but over by the mall, softball sized hail.....bad stuff. The hood of my jeep still has waffle dents on it.

I was there! I still haven't examined my car; I really don't want to know as it is not even 4 weeks old. Windshield survived though.

Just imagine how far those stones fall and on top of that the strength of the wind that lets them grow to that size!

I don't know if this was the storm I'm thinking of, but I was in a bad hail storm some time last year in Colorado. Everywhere you could get your car covered was taken. Under a gazebo there was a minivan, people were parked under a US Bank drive thru... Anywhere you could go was taken. I eventually pulled into an underground garage with cars all pushed in nice and tight. I barely was able to get under the cover, I got the last spot to "park". (Right in the entrance, you couldn't move your car, people were taking up the whole GARAGE, not just spaces. There was also a half foot flood.

I was driving home to Illinois from Vegas and decided to stop in Denver to workout. It seemed like the right thing to do since I had a long drive and was getting a little bored/tired. I was taking a shower and I heard it. My first thought was tornado but quickly recognized the rhythm as being hail. I came out to see every car in the lot trashed. Thankfully my car has a plastic body (Corvette) so the body and paint were fine. I had the least damage of any car in the parking lot with only a small crack in the windshield. When I stepped outside you could hear ambulance sirens coming from multiple directions. Apparently there were a lot of injuries throughout the Denver area.

You didn't hit your Bat(viper) with Ball (hail), that's why glass broken.....if you would connected it right it was Six (home run)....

A similar storm happened in West Covina on that same day! Except we had smaller hail and an electrical storm. It went on for five minutes. We never get that in Southern California!

That hail storm? It happened to me in Colorado when I was in school and it was hell there was water and hail everywhere, going under the classroom doors, and flooding in the school entrance. At least we didn't have to go to school after that :p

Nature in the raw is seldom mild.

Every damn summer in Denver we get a few bad hail storms but this was the worst one ever

We get a lot of hail here but small but it’s rare when we get big sized hail
