Well, check this out. Most residents in Colorado are so ILLETIRATE to Who ACTUALLY owns 90% of the Land within the state boundaries of Colorado. The VAST MAJORITY of land within its boundaries DO NOT BELONG to Colorado. It belongs to the United States of America. National forest, BLM, and National Park services. None of these BELONG to Colorado. Get off of Ur jackass high horses. It doesn't belong to U jackasses. My grandparents paid for it so Ur stupid ass could see it. Colorado is beautiful, and U jackasses don't OWN IT. Fu-- any jackasses who thinks they own it. Where did Ur ancestors come from? They slaughtered American Indians to live in Denver or anywhere else in Colorado. Go fu--k unselfish ass for telling me I don't belong in Colorado when I visit there. I'll come there when I damn well please to do so. Fu-k Ur opinion.

Colorado is a great state for camping! Our son lives in Aurora, so we go out there every year now and visit different places. Though we spent some time at Mesa Verde,we missed out on Durango due to Covid. We'll need to go back. The Million Dollar Highway is another trip we need to do. We'll be at Great Sand Dunes at the end of September this year as part of a 47 day trip we have planned.

My sister and I stayed at the Purgatory Ski Lodge in late September (off season) in 2016 on an 8 day vacation. I think the mountains across from the lodge are 14k...very nice. We also rode the Durango Silverton narrow gage railroad into Silverton. The day of the ride the skis were a beautiful blue and the sun made the yellow aspens that much prettier against the sky and mountains. It snowed the night before we left Durango headed for Denver. The snow covered mountains stood majestic against the early morning sky. We traveled on the 550 highway so having just a little snow on the road as opposed to a lot of snow was a good thing in my opinion.

We went whitewater rafting on Animas River, took the scenic train up to Silverton which was awesome, went to the Bar D Chuckwagon show/dinner, camped just barely outside of town in national forest etc etc. We got some great food in Durango and the best coffee on the trip.

We love that part of Colorado (South). We fly into Alburquerque, NM and drive up to Pagosa Springs--- it's shaves off a couple of hours compared to Denver. I won't drive North on the Million Dollar Highway between Silverton and Ouray. It's too stressful and scary. I'll drive it going South, as we "hug" the mountain tho. Never bean to Steamboat. We also like Frisco/Breckenridge area (closer to Denver/ West-- a couple of hours). We plan to check out Colordado Springs next trip. Love your video! Makes me want to go to Colorado now.... 🙂

I loved this topic, thank you for sharing. we did a similar drive from Durango to Silverton continued up to Gunnison Gorge went East on Hwy 50 (I think) and down to Pagosa through the most amazing twists and turns I have ever driven through. I have one question for you and your viewers. We stumbled into a tiny town that had the entire town government inside of a HUGE cave. The fire department, city hall, etc were inside of this cave, but I cant recall the name or area in that trip we took. If you know it I would love to visit it again when we retire in 1 year, 11 months, one week, 5 hours 😂

I would pass on Durango. It's expensive compared to Cortez, and the dog park is built on the old Uranium smelter site. Lake Nighthorse is placed where the old smelter put all of it's radioactive rock slag. A honest to god mountain of it! Some of the older homes are radioactive as well, because before every one knew how dangerous it was the Smelter offered these radioactive slabs of rock as free building material. It was cheaper for the company than hauling it off themselves. Source: Pinkerton Springs is named after my grand mothers grand father. I moved to Montezuma County as soon as I could. Definatly visit but not many who live there know it's past.

I appreciate your insights into the towns; however, the Colorado I visited in the ‘70s and would like to see again wouldn’t be friendly to RVs. Colorado is awesome for tent camping and hiking in July and August. Of course, things have changed a lot, I’m sure. My favorite campground was Collegiate Peaks campground in the NF near Leadville. We did a little of the touristy stuff and I really enjoyed the Durango-Silverton RR. But realize that when there are more restaurants per capita than SF, the tourists are the ones who keep them going. I just wanted to give an alternative take. Again, thanks for the video.

I have been to Colorado every summer since 2016. I live in Florida. You didn't include Leadville? Historic mining town at 10,150ft elevation, near the center of the state. Colorado's highest mountains there. 550 Million Dollar Highway southbound from Ouray is a blast. Near vertical drop offs into the canyon with no guardrails first couple miles. No distracted driving on this road! Crested Butte is another cool mountain town worth visiting. Salida on the Arkansas River. I highly recommend Boat House Cantina. One of my favorite restaurants in CO.

You keep misusing the term "a ton". You missuse that term many times in your vids. Haven't you ever heard somebody use or missuse a certain word or term so often that you get sick of hearing it so much that you tried to avoid being around them or hearing them! I'm sure that other people feel the same way. How about using the term "a lot" or "lots" more often instead of misusing the term for a specific amount of weight! Lots of people are afraid of leaving constructive comments. In a big survey they found out only one out of every twenty-seven people that did not like something ever said anything. So multiply each negative or constructive comment by 27. I worked in construction operating heavy equipment most of my life and it is amazing how many so-called professional heavy equipment operators don't know what the equipment is called that they operate. They call almost every piece of equipment by the wrong name, or by the wrong type, or by the wrong manufacturer excetera. It gets extremely frustrating and irritating! So far I like some of your travel videos. I lived in a travel trailer for several years when I was younger and I want to return to that.

@@AdventureEndeavor Not saying you are the ones from outta state visitors that are rude and trash this state out. We have so many that do. That it has put a sour taste in our mouth when it happens over and over. Hope you can pass that on to others. We respect what a beautiful place we live on. Sincerely smiles..
