And probably 5% of those tags actually get filled.

Especially at $803 per license. I’m going one last time this year but after that I’m tapping out. The trip plus fees is getting overpriced

Just a $ grab. Most of those hunters don't even see an elk.

Non residents should only be allowed left over tags. Game and fish departments need to quit relying on the non residents.

They can't because they make alot more money woth non residents paying out the ass compared to residents.

It’s finally here boys and girls, the day of only being able to hunt your state is here. The draw system and points have ruined hunting for all. Unless you have big money to spend you’ll be stuck in your state and maybe if you lucky draw a tag or two in another state in a lifetime. It’s at the point that I don’t know how much longer I personally am gonna let bureaucracy ruin a god giving right.

In NM you can go pay 4K to get a cow on public land with a unit wide tag given to a private landowner for a public resource that residents only get drawn for once a decade.😅

What should be of greater concern is the rate at which the current governor signs legislation to “protect “ all wildlife from hunting.

Well, those numbers aren't fully correct, Montana sold over 60k nonresident elk tags

NM also sells many many thousands of private land owner tags to mostly non residents. Not contradicting just adding context and a few thousand tags he isn’t counting

The Land Owners receive tags because they own massive acreage right ? in turn don’t they sell those tags to guides , then the guides sell them to out of staters ? Am I wrong ? 😑

Time to do what WI, turn it into an economic positive for your state. Every one of those non residential tags, the funds should go to the elk heard and its long-term health.

As someone that commutes for Elk every season I put in for tags in 4-5 states on average. I stopped getting tags in Colorado 5 yrs ago because the Elk are typically smaller and less healthy.

Colorado sells more non rez tags since they are the cheapest and most accessible. I think thats why CO sells more tags. As a resident of CO i could not justify buying an elk tag in another state and paying for the trip on top.

How much of that money goes towards things the state doesn’t even need? How often do they upgrade all their fancy gear? I feel like this is going to be the fate of Montana as well.. areas we have taken the time to learn.. fwp sends out of staters right to them. Had more Washington, and oregon plates in multiple districts than Montana plates.

Colorado hunting is going to the shit tank fast , I been going there for 23 years and it gets worse every year , # 1 problem is the over population of people and then it continues from there .

I tell people that’s the problem here in Utah, but they get offended. I mean people need a nice place to go live, absolutely, but you can’t vote for giveaways to developers and private game farms then see no connection between the loss of tags and the bulldozing of winter habitat.

It’s a math and possibilities problem… Colorado knows that a large present of their out-of-state hunters are not going to harvest. But they still get the money… It’s not that hard to understand. I’m 35 years old. I’ve been saving to buy property in Montana since I was 16

Personally I think nonresident contributions to help with Colorado’s State budget is out of control. 43.8 percent of Colorado’s State budget comes from Federal Funds, you know nonresidents…….. that is 43.8% of 55.9 billion. There is more to this story, most big game hunting in Colorado takes place on Federal lands owned by all, National Forests, National Bureau of Land Management tracts, National Grasslands, National Monuments and National Wilderness Tracts…….

In a number of states nonresidents have been dropping out of the game. I can't say that I blame them. Unfortunately Colorado will really see a game decline as the wolf numbers increase. That is an issue that rests solely on the shoulders of resident Colorado hunters. Way too many hunters in Colorado sat silent while the voters voted to bring wolves into Colorado. You lost that battle by less than 1%. What happened boys?

All of Colorado hunting has become complete shit. Good luck getting any public Land access. All the roads are closed and unless your in good enough shape to run a marathon with all of your gear you won’t see and animal. They want your money not your success.

The elk herd up here in montana is starting to go down and quality is going down but they any state seems to cader towards the out if staters cause that where they make there money cause they charge them and arm and a leg and a kidney where the residens only get charged a arm truly and the way the have managed the heards of elk and deer and stuff has not been great which is sad to say but i know me and a few others had sent complaints in to fwp and the next year we saw drops in tag numbers and saw them again this year droo the numbers so hopefully chage is here and things will make a turn for the better

They cant, they make alot more money off non residents. Tags are 3× more and it includes the money they bring with lodging and food they aoy for while there. So relying on the non resident makes the. more money. I dknt agree with it, but its the reality

See I don’t want to just hunt Wyoming, I’m planning on packing up and moving there. Michigan is depressing at best. And as for the rest of the people, idk why you see all Michigan license plates but I would also wager they all just loathe Michigan as well. 0/10 do not recommend this state for any reason unless you are a die hard fisherman

@@YMS12121 I have to say I would accept the winter weather. My location in Mi got maybe 10 days of good snow and that was our winter. Currently 50° and overcast here. As for the wind that does sound annoying but not a deal breaker in my books. It is sad tho that would make it super difficult to bow hunt anything unless you got close enough to smell it’s breath

New regulations are cutting the non-resident tags by a decent clip. I see more non-resident on the mountain than resident!
@jk-kr8jt
@jk-kr8jt 4 месяца назад
Why do you think that you're seeing more nonresidents on the hill than residents? Considering 80% of the tags go to residents. Is it that the residents aren't putting in the effort? Or is it that in many areas a resident will draw every year while a nonres may not draw that area for 4 to 6 years? Or that the resident is unwilling to hunt when the weather turns flat unpleasant? Could it be that the nonres has invested 20X the money and is going to stick to it? I'd really like to hear your thoughts. Thanks.

Whats the harvest numbers? Is he counting all the landowner tags too? What about predator kill numbers? What about building subdivisions on winter range? How do you come to a conclusion using those two data points? Like to know individual state numbers by percentages. So many factors contribute to heard numbers you can't just go off a couple of numbers that make your point look good. I get that most resident in all states wish non-resident tags would go away to give resident more opportunities but we all (states) have relied on funding from those tags. If that went away where does the department replace that funding? Not bashing but everyone should realize there are many factors that manage wildlife. Good try tho.😂 Good show Cliff! 👍 Keep forcing people to think outside the box.
