Colorado Trail 2023 | Day 5
CT Mile 61.5 - 71.9
📍Lost Creek Wilderness - Kenosha Pass campground
It rained all night. Unfortunately- I removed all of my rain gear from my pack at the last minute. Thankfully- I was prepared with an emergency poncho, just in case! After this little storm, I didn’t feel comfortable continuing on without a rain jacket.
Today I met Drew, he told me about his bear encounter yesterday, so now I’m extra cautious and aware. We’re planning to hitch into Jefferson. He sent a resupply there & I could check for rain gear.
Neither of us have hitched before, so this would be interesting. After waiting on the side of the road for about 10 minutes, we were offered a ride from an awesome couple who was getting ready to leave. We were in Jefferson in less than 15 minutes. No rain gear found, but the cheeseburger I had for lunch was great. 😋
We hitched back to the trail and paid for a night at Kenosha Pass campground. It was early, the campground seemed busy but not crowded- for being a Saturday afternoon.
Later that night I got a random notification on my phone reminding me of the presides meteor shower peaking that night ☄️ and I quickly regretted not being further in the backcountry…
