@@matt13ross Hi I am not sure if you seen my question, I would like to ask if you know yours buddy tuneup software and where can I possibly get it? Thank you very very much!
This was awesome. Good experiment! Pretty sure I'd get thrown in jail in California if I tried that. Also, thanks for switching up the music. lol. MUCH BETTER.
No I’m not gonna share this video with my wife because I’m going to buy her one of these trucks and then I’m going to straight pipe it and let her hear it in person instead of just taking someone else’s opinion through a video. Sorry but I need to try it out for myself and if she likes it then we’re good! 🤣🤣🤣🤣
A “turbo style” muffler tends to cut the drone and let the turbo noise pass through for the most part, I’ve done a few with the Dynomax 17698 and they sound pretty good, close to stock in the cab, nice on the outside. ✌️
Bro, that Dirtyminimax is not to loud and does not sound bad. It sounds great. I love it. I’d same I’m a new fan but I’ve owned them & loved the Duramax for a long time.
These vehicles today are so choked the fuck out it's not funny. I remember back when Stangs had like 4 cats. My eco diesel has 3 cats plus the dpf canister. I took off the muffler and did the Magnaflow tailpipe extension. I think it sounds clean and enough notice in sound from stock that I am happy. I would be curious to see what it sounds like with delete and downpipe.
When it comes to 4 cylinder engines, diesel and gas and ESPECIALLY turbo, I think it's better to stick with intake mods so you can hear the deep intake note and turbo whistle. If you're gonna do exhaust mods at all, putting out enough money for a proper deep voiced but quiet exhaust is a must. No engine sounds all that great past a certain volume level, but 4 cylinders especially get worse as they get louder.
Who did the tune? What kit? It’s unfortunate that today’s diesel has so much crap in the exhaust. There is a big percentage of HP lost in pushing the exhaust through the DOC and the DPF. And the soot that is pushed back into the EGR and intake manifold. But my concern is the warranty..... The forums are full of issues from EGR s plugged up to injector failure to holes in pistons to complete engines blowing up...... So I will wait till it’s out of warranty before deleting mine. Hope it lasts till it’s out of warranty,,, fingers crossed....
My 2006 liberty diesel I put a straight 3 inch and turned it out in front of the passenger rear tire with a 5” tip,it sounded like a little bread truck and bigger than it really was
I would love to change out the DPF and all the associated crap under there and give her a little more noise but since the big crack down, the EPA shows up at your door, kicks your puppy, takes your birthday away, And fines you a million dollars at the slightest muttering of the words “delete”. I’m sure there’s still a way to do it but I haven’t gone down that rabbit hole yet. I’m with you on the “keeping the muffler”. I have an old deuce and a half which were all built with a straight pipe stack and a screaming whistler turbo which ejects its battle cry right over the passengers head. I had that truck a week before I put a big’o Donaldson muffler on it. A muffler gives it so much more “growl” than a raspy screeching out the back. Awesome truck!
Can someone please tell me what and how a (TURBO BRAKE ) is? I'm no genius but would you just have to let off the gas and then that would slow the turbo down. Lmao
Mine has 4 inch pipe with Aeroturbine muffler and 6 inch tip. Sounds amazing and almost no drone. It's deeper than the 3 inch pipe and the tip makes a huge difference. Tried a 5 inch tip but it was a little louder and droned some
It all sounds like shit LOL. Dad just picked one of these truck up. Thought I would see what kind of dumb mods people were trying. Of course somebody is going to think a 4cyl can sound good. I'll probably just get him set up with a catch can, and maybe a boost/pyro gauge so he can re-live his tractor pulling days. Man it really does sound ricer cringe worthy.
That’s why I hav a dump valve on mine,,,, push a button and its quite 4 towing and stuff (QUITE MODE) a push the button and its FUN loud straight piped.👍👍👍
I LOVE IT, 4 cyl turbo diesel is so underrated. I like loud diesels though, and cab drone don't bother me to bad. Had a 4 inch straight piped lbz and had a drone but still loved every second of it
But I love it when he has a big load of cedar going up a hill, loudest thing ever but it's not an annoying loud it sounds really good. Huge duramax fan and the way they all sound
It’s way too loud? I think it sounds awesome, but each to its own!🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 If you don’t want that kind of attention then don’t get down on the excelerator while you’re in town!
Are you ready to live with a diesel? It's not necessarily more difficult to own but it just needs a little more attention. Your v6 is faster and a well proven motor. It just depends on your needs. I would say if you ever move up to a full size I would look at the new 3.0 diesels.
What did your friend do with the def tank? Drain it? Rinse it out? Leave it full of def? My canadian friend just ordered the same parts so he wants to know
Don’t mind it. Heck you can’t even hear it over 10-15% radio volume with the windows up. It drones at around 70-72mph then cleans up above or below that speed
@@matt13ross I mean I’m not mad at it. I’ve heard more obnoxious vehicles. It might sound better with a bigger turbo or a different exhaust manifold. It has potential though.
@@matt13ross aeroturbine makes one hell of a muffler/resonator. I have a 5” “5050xl” on my 21’ Cummins and it cuts down on the rumble at idle and the screech of the vgt turbo at warmup. Sounds clean down low, but sill has a nice bark when you get into the throttle. Zero drone on the highway and inside the cab it still sounds quiet like stock (unless the windows are down!). It even increases airflow so it’s actually a hp gain, proven on a dyno. I’d highly recommend it.
