None that I’ve found. I used to think that the AQ dacs sounded different but after doing many A/B tests in volume match, no.

The majority of modern dacs are neutral. They don’t have a sound signature, despite what the usual audiophiles say. Dacs have minimal influence on the sound, on the rare occasions they do. If you have a dac you already like and don’t have any specific need to buy a replacement, then don’t waste the money. Either save that cash for a rainy day, or buy yourself an IEM or headphone-which are a far better use of money than a Dac or amp.

One of the reasons why I hesitate to do firmware updates from companies like Colorfly, Topping, SMSL, etc. They chug out so much stuff that they simply cannot (and do not) support a product after release--so if you got a buggy firmware, you can't expect for a fix any time soon.

@@NoThemeReviews That is why Qudelix is so respectable. They basically only sell the Qudelix 5k and T71(a relatively new release), and they constantly give new updates.

You claim that if you volume match, there is no audible difference, i have a conter example comparing colorfly m1p and moondrop dawn 4.4, it is volume matched using a microphone and high frequencies are much more pronounced on dawn 4.4, is is very noticeable on recordings with vinyl crackles, it is very audible and sharp in dawn 4.4 but very smoothed and toned down on m1p, as if the treble knob on an amplifier was turned down by 6 db. I head it on s12 olina and ea500

You did an actual A/B comparison at the same time using the same IEM/headphone or you volume matched with a microphone one after the other or you used different IEMs and headphones for each? I can’t tell what your process was.

Plug s12 in dawn 4.4 , set normal listening volume, record pink noise in audacity (lav mic in zoom h1), now plug s12 in m1p, record pink noise in audacity adjusting volume in m1p until it visually match the loudness of dawn 4.4 recording. Listen to song with vinyl cracks pluging the s12 in both dac. Then i did the same with olina and ea500.

No my switchbox is 3.5mm only, here i compared 4.4mm but even with the 1-2 second delay for manually switching the 4mm plug from one dac to the other, the difference was easy to spot on high frequency sharp sounds such as vinyl crackles

@@NoThemeReviews please try this song in a/b testing a "analog" dac (m1p,ifi go link) vs a "hifi" dac (dc03pro, dawn 4.4,apple dongle) and check the vinyl crackles they are much nore pronounced and sharp on the latter category : ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-pdvFN_7NSyQ.html
