Hi Dr.ChemDrawWizard, I really enjoyed your magic skills shown on the RU-vid. I just have a naive question on how to keep chemdraw structures the same size! I draw a chemical and resized it. Then, I tried to modify this structure after copying it. However, the new modification seems to be in the size by default? It seems the "clean up structure" button can help somehow, but still not what I want. Could you show me a solution? Thanks.
You can select the molecule, go to Object then Apply document settings. That will make the molecule consistent. Then you can resize as needed. When you resize, hold Control to resize the atom labels and the bond thickness as well
Thanks! You need to be on version 17 or higher. Touch the molecule with the cursor, move away, and press the keyboard arrows. Check out ChemDraw Magic 4 for details
Hi Jussi, Yes you can still modify the hotkeys.xml file. It is in the ChemDraw Items folder whose path you can find in File > Preferences > Directories. It requires you to go through the Program Data path, which is hidden by default. There is no hotkey to "Edit Curve"
Hmm, having trouble with molecules that have two of the same group (two R1 substituents). I want to only generate molecules were R1 is the same (symmetric), but ChemDraw will always mix match them (asymmetric). For example, R1 box contains Me, Et, and Ph. Desired molecules would have two R1 groups that are equivalent: Me, Me; Et, Et; and Ph, Ph. But chemdraw will give me too many structures with mixed and matched groups (e.g. Me, Et).
When I try to use the extended copy paste option from chemdraw direct it just pastes a long code onto my existing chemdraw page , than the structures I've ctrl-C-ed . Help???
Hello mate, I had the same confusion as you did. Thanks for you question! I just figured it out. You can go View>Other Toolbars>Query Tools and there you go!
Hi, I really appreciate you sharing great ChemDraw tips. The new ChemDraw is really fantastic, but do you know that there is a critical error? When you use a stoichiometry table with a small number like microgram scale, the software is closed without giving any error message. It's really a shame since this is one of the most frequently used function.
Please which versions have the Ring fill colours. I use version 18.2 but i am unable to access it ....plus i have a challenge with my Chemoffice professional 18.2 where i copy a structure onto microsoft office and it converts it to uneditable picture. How do i rectify this? thank you
Ring fill colors is available in ChemDraw Professional 19 and above. For your challenge, I'd recommend looking for suggestions on informatics.perkinelmer.com/Support/
Hello Angeles, Ring Fill coloring is only available since 19.0. If your institution/company has a site license you can find it here, download the latest version: informatics.perkinelmer.com/sitesubscription/
Sir, I am facing a problem. When I copy a structure from chemdraw to word it paste as an img which can't be edited and an error massage appear. There is a problem saving the file. Usually this is because the disk or floppy disk is too small for the file or is full, RAM memory is low, or there is a permission problem with the drive the file is being saved to. If the amount of disk space for a paging file is low, save the file to another drive. If the RAM memory is low, increase available RAM. If permissions to the drive do not allow you to save to that drive, save the file to another drive or request permissions from the administrator to save files to the drive. Note This error can also occur if the computer is running a version of antivirus software that is incompatible with the Microsoft Office or must be updated. how do I solve this problem.
Usually a Microsoft Update will solve the problem. I'd recommend getting the latest version, if your institution/company has access you can find it here: informatics.perkinelmer.com/sitesubscription/
