Those bulbs are better looking than anything we have in 2023.

I fully agree with you. The modern LEDs are really pretty hideous!!! LOL

Hi, fellow enthusiasts from the UK here. We use a bulb painting kit from a company called Conrad, it has six colours and is a must for people with big collections.

That's cool, I actually bought some bulb paint from England, but it only had the 4 basic colors. I was under the impression that it was opacque, when I bought it. After receiving it I realized that it was transparent color. Oh well. I hope you will consider joining my facebook page, as we now have several UK members that show off some of their goodies. It's always great to see things from other countries. Here is the link to our page.....Please be sure to answer the entrance questions,,,,,, facebook.com/groups/475901481145293

Doing it with just the bulb alone is fine because it helps out a lot more and make it look more precise so that we don’t have to worry about heading past the middle socket that contains the power coupling

Of course, it does recommend that you do it with the power on but for safer message I recommend you do it with the power off because it’s a lot more safer

Super interesting! I have been experimenting with alcohol inks and that seems to work well too. The issue is they come in small 1oz. bottles so you have to purchase many packages to get enough fluid to dip the whole bulb. Thank you and keep these interesting videos coming!

Glad you like the video. I have been using alcohol inks for the last few years. As Utrecht, Blick and Plaza. Not craft stores. Craft stores will only sell small bottles. I got much bigger bottles at my local Blick store. Pinata is the brand that they carry. You can also buy it online. Hopefully this helps. But Alcohol inks work really good.

@@c6lites Boy I really appreciate that info! I have a lot of clear or flaking bulbs I’d like to repaint especially in yellow and purple as they are rare colors in the day. Thank you again for the information!

I am a fan of your videos and knowledge of vintage christmas lights and decorations. By chance do you still have any of the Rudolph lamps you were selling last christmas

@@Josh-qb8fi Hi there, thanks for your nice comments. I didn't sell Rudolph lamps, but I did sell spinning lampshades for the Rudolph lamps. Many people have a lamp, but no shade, so I thought the spinning shade was a good idea. I made a large bunch of them and they really didn't sell. So, I really super sale priced them and sold all of them. I am now only making all of my spinning shades to order.....and now the price has gone up. They take a lot of time and I often have boo boos which I never really counted into the final price. So all spinning shades are now $200 each. I will be happy to make one for you if that price is ok with you. I think I started one back in the spring as a special order and it sort of got a faint stain on it. If I still have that one, I will finish it off and sell it at $100. You can email me at c6lites@gmail.com if you want.

Do you know if this stuff is lacquer based or water based? I’m guessing lacquer?

I believe all of this early paint was lacquer

@@c6lites Yes, that would be pretty evident by the odor. Thanks for the response!
