I have been applying your use of different colors into my layering and what a difference it has made in my art. Beautiful ❤. I agree with you that with a blending pencil it gets muddy sometimes. I'm also not a fan of using white for blending. It dulls the original colour. You used it to highlight something. Then it works just fine. I use an eraser pencil for that purpose as wel.

Hi 👋 I just subscribed to your channel because I’ve never - ever - seen anybody use that feathering method that you do! And I totally agree that the ideal blends are the ones the colourist does themselves can do, without reaching for anything external like OMS, blending pencils etc. If you want to become a good colourist, you should be able to produce that without those aids. And I agree that colorless pencil blenders aren’t a good option because they do fade the colour slightly and any layers except those that are absolutely necessary should be used so you don’t get a huge buildup of wax on the object you’re colouring. And I completely agree with using a colour from the actual pencils you used, usually the lightest colour of the blend, to do the overall blending/burnishing. Blending with White is actually the same as adding White and usually adding White (especially with the more high end, highly pigmented and opaque - the better the White, the more it will fade your blend) creates a Tint of any colour on which you use it. I only use White if I am actually aiming for that - to create a Tint. Adding White is how you create pastel sort of soft colours. So yeah, I’m so pleased to find someone who has the same thoughts about blending as I do. 💖 from Australia 🇦🇺

Ah, thank you. I'm pretty adept at shading and such, but my color theory is trash. I've been trying for half the day to get right... intensity(?)... to a pink flower. The simple change of the first color being neon instead of deco pink solved the issue. 😊 Thank You very much and if you're in the states, happu 4th!

i have budget friendly wax pencils mostly with a tiny bit of prisma. I also just got a small set of polys. Will these layers still work?

Just an observation which I see lots of colourists doing the same. i think the first leaf you over did it and its beginning to muddy, where there was a couple of layers less the leaf was glowing. I watch chris chengs videos alot and she seems to be one of the only people who can keep adding and layering and it never starts to muddy.

When you put 5-6 colors always starting in the same place, don't you reach wax bloom too soon so that you can no longer add colors? How do you keep from doing that?
